When you are ready to install a video card in your desktop computer, the first thing to always keep in mind is the size of the graphics card; mainly because you want it to fit inside the case available opening.

When you are installing a graphics card like those from nvidia let say, you will have to deal with the size they come as by default which is always more intended for custom built desktop computers; however if you are like me who want to use a branded computer like my dell inspiron 3847 desktop let say you are dealing with limited space inside the case.
With that said going with a branded desktop I always recommend the EVGA Graphic Cards more so than others, main reason is for their reputation on the unique design modifications they do to the video cards to the overall design; where some of them come with one cooling fan and others with dual fans so you have a choice on which one based on size will work best for you.
This very example was true when I wanted to install an nvidia geforce rtx 2060 graphics card inside my dell inspiron 3847 desktop computer; with that in mind I chose the Ultra KO Model which offers me the two fan design as well as overclocking capabilities; this particular model also comes in larger sizes however those as said is more intended for custom built desktop cases.
Overall the EVGA Nvidia Geforce RTX 2060 KO Ultra was about 7-8 inches wide, which actually was smaller than the original geforce 1050 ti that I had installed about a year ago; even though it was smaller it was actually newer so it worked out doing this upgrade.

When installing any graphics card though is important to also install a power supply, considering how loyal I am to affordable well reputable companies; I decided to go with EVGA due to their line of nvidia graphic cards of all sizes and also due to their line of power supplies and even desktop cases too so it was a great brand to choose for my gaming customization.
The only three requirements for upgrading your desktop with a graphics card is simply having a pci-express slot on your motherboard which most desktop computers do, and then replacing your original power supply with a more voltage driven one like up to 500 watts on the minimum; and then your last requirement is making sure the size of the graphics card you choose will fit in the opening available inside your case and this is not so much for the power supply as they are all designed within the same dimensions for a desktop.
Besides the minimum required and the specifications to keep aware of, of course you may go beyond that like I did by adding cooling fans; even an led strip light inside to give it the look and feel of a custom gaming desktop.

I originally order this desktop with the i7 processor which is the latest it supports. anyone running less than the i7 you can purchase the processor I listed on the video description as is the one I have. hi. the gtx 1660 is good. is actually an upgrade from the 1050 ti. however more gamers and games in general are moving into RTX Graphics card now. I have listed a 2060 at reasonable price on the video description. I recommend listing your card for sale on amazon and then or before ordering the 2060 which is a low starting entry into the RTX Technology.

i have this exact same Dell model, and a RTX 2060 will work fine with it? how big of a power supply do you need? will DDR3 ram work fine with it? also how much of an improvement is this over the 1050ti?

oh my goodness. installing the 2060 was a huge bump because keep in mind is an RTX not GTX so the graphics power went up. Power supply ideally a 500W is plenty. these are products I listed on the video description so go get them. regarding the memory I would for sure max it out to the 16GB capacity. I also listed a bundle on the video description. I was able to play most RTX games with this desktop by simply upgrading to the 2060 RTX. of course my experience is different and it comes down to hardware. I was running an i7. 16GB. SSD. 2060 RTX. so try your best to max out as much as your hardware after the 2060 upgrade. this desktop is well worth the bump.

I have that computer. I do not have molex connectors on my STOCK power supply, just sata types. So I will do a molex to sata adapter. Also I am trying to use the 2nd FAN header on mobo [it has power but is not mentioned in the manuals no where]. Maybe a 92mm fan pulling air in from behind the front grill.

hi. this pc supports a 92mm on the rear. the side panel can support a 120mm. and the motherboard supports several 3-4 pin connectors to power them without needing to connect to power supply.

Was everything just plug and play, or did you have to change the BIOS? I have an Inspiron 3847 with an intel I&-4790 CPU @ 3.60 Ghz, with 16 ram and 2TB hard drive. I Just instal a Visiontek Readon 5450 but i want to run Microsoft Flight simulation and i dont think i have enough power. I dont want to mess with the BIOS cause i dont know anything about software. What do you think?

good question. in this particular upgrade the customization was plug and play. connect it all and let windows detect the hardware. the most you need to do is of course install newer drivers for the graphics card. you better subscribe for more gaming videos

I am puzzle, how can cooler master fans run on a dell motherboard since non dell fans cannot run in that set up?

hi. is actually simple. i connected the side panel 120 fan to the power coming from the power supply. then the motherboard supports 80mm which is the default size. it also can handle the upgrade size of 92mm on the rear. i connected this fan to the board fan connector. the last thing i did to make the 92mm match was to install one on top of the cooler master cpu cooler. that one was also connected to the motherboard for the cpu fan. all recommended products are listed on the video description

Hi. I’m looking to get a side panel fan just like yours to help with cooling. Would you happen to remember what hardware was used to mount the fan? Also, what thumbscrew size did you use to replace the factory phillip ones that hold the side panel in place?

I mounted the fan using the screws that come with it from the outside of the panel to the fan. using the fan that fit the size of the opening vent.

Hi. I connected the fans using board fan connector. You may also use an adapter when you run out of the board connectors

Thanks or this great video. What do you think is the best graphics card for this computer i already installed a power upgrade. im looking to upgrade but i cannot find the rtx 2060 for under $900 almost 3 times as much as original price. i have a gtx 1050TI but it is struggling with new games.

hi. that is correct. the 1050 ti is a limited card. light games mostly. your best upgrade at the lowest price is a 2060 rtx card. and you are right people are selling them high due to the shortage in graphics cards. ebay have cheaper options go here ebay.us/kSnZib

hi. good question. well I purchased a 120mm cooler master red led or rgb etc. and I knew that the side panel had a vent and so I thought let me install one here. I only needed to mark my fan and then slowly create my screw holes into the cooling fan and slowly got the perfect fit. the cable was is long enough to travel to a fan connector.

yes this fan connects directly to the motherboard using the standard 3 pin and if you do not have any of those available on the board then connect it using a splitter adapter to the power supply like I did

Hi. well it was quite simple actually. I purchased a 120mm cooler master fan found on amazon at amzn.to/2JJAMXs and then i screwed it in through the side vent. Before I did though I made sure to position the fan correctly first and then I slowly forced my screw in one by one.

yes you will require a power supply when you upgrade to the 2060 upwards. the only thing you have to be concerned about is fitting the card within the 10 inches space

hi. i do not monitor FDS. I do tell you this though that the gameplay on high settings played well on call of duty modern warfare and battlefield etc. the combination between the i7 and this 2060 is solid.

well yes for casual gaming. the 1050 ti did OK for low quality settings. if using nvidia experience application all my games were optimized automatically for 1080p the 1650 is newer so should work well. do not expect 1440 or 4k though or ultra settings.

lol. good question buddy. first of because I like having this sort of fun. I like to be creative. Second is because I'm planning to sell it so I thought that adding more value to it would help it sell even more. If you've watched my other videos I had added a cooler for cpu. I now have custom painted it. and also now added a better graphics card. believe it or not yes I could have gone with a new case but at this point I may just go built an entire desktop or order the new g5 desktop from dell so those plans are in motion for me to decide on. my theory buddy is that I paid $1,100 for this desktop back in 2017 because I ordered it with 16gb. i7 processor etc. maxed out. I would hate to sell it for half that when it works perfectly. lastly too was giving it more value if I decided to keep it and if I did choose to sell it. you liked it though huh? lol

I gave you a dislike simply because you can't even see the socket on the mobo the video card is going into- which I think is a pretty critical thing to show. Iin the future please consider having the computer standing up normally, or having the camera directly overhead the socket.

Hi Hernandez, I got this computer, stock by the way It’s the one with an i5 in it (forgot which version) 8gb ram 1tb hdd And gpu is a Amd ryzen hd 7000 series (pretty old) And stock power supply I was wondering if you could tell me how I could max this out without replacing the cpu and power supply? I was thinking 16gb ram upgrade And adding a gtx 1650 Not sure if this is the right path to take or what? Any help would be appreciated!

great question. as mirza mentioned. whatever graphics card you go with will need to support less than 300w and not just that not require a power pin connector to the card. as these types of cables are typically not present on a case standard psu. my recommendation to keep things very low is to yes max the memory to 16gb and you can find a good bundle at amzn.to/3qkm89m and also in addition for your information any graphics card 1050 ti which is as good in a sense to a 1650 will not require a power pin. allowing you to keep the stock psu. you can find a 1050 ti at amzn.to/3agqFEe besides these two you have some decent hardware to run under 16gb and the 1050 ti without needing to replace the psu
