Installing JCR Non-silenced Valved Race Pipes on 718 GT4 (+ Baseline Dyno)

Finally got around installing JCR exhaust. My plan was to go through the break-in period with OEM exhaust, push the car just a little bit for the ECU to pick up the new mappings on the top of the range and then do a baseline dyno, install the JCR exhaust and redo dyno to see if the gains are truly there. In this video I have documented the installation process but tune in for dyno comparison of baseline and JCR exhaust.

yes you wont regret it.. the fitment sucked for pdk cars even with the after-thought bracet

It sounds great and well done! Love it with the valves open. - From ATX :-)

I'm on a wait list in Canada to get a GT4 allocation... I'm pretty much convinced my first mods will be the JCR silenced race pipe and JCR OPF delete silenced with the Cargraphic Valve Control Unit. I'm a little dissapointed that the JCR exhaust is not 100% OEM fit at that price point.. Sounds amazing tho', congrats!!

I agree.. equally disappointed.. also make sure to tune in for the dyno results.. they are suprising to say the least

nice video. got question here, why dont you use OAP from JCR as well ? thanks cheers

Are you in the DFW area? I think I saw you at a PCA meet. Would love to hear the exhaust in person. I have a white one with Soul Sport Headers and OAP. Sounds good but trying to decide which “X” pipe exhaust to get next to get that higher pitch. Leaning toward Kline since it has full 2.5” ID from header to tip.

yes sir, DFW. Hit me up on insta @blendlinegarage and we will plan something. Curious to see/hear your setup as well

Do you think I can fit a generic 2.5" pipe over the muffler outlet in place of the tips? Trying to figure out if I can install turn away pipes to lower the volume for certain track days.

Got new 718 GTS 4.0. Would you recommend upgrading the 'link OAP' first or upgrade to this 'valved race pipe'? I'm leaning towards link OAP first simply because of current budget (can afford it now). I also feel that other brands don't make as good of a product (especially OAP) in titanium with nice heat shield wrapping. Otherwise, I would've gone with SOUL or Fabspeed for a cheaper setup. Do you have a recommendation that can compete with JCR's?
@blendlinegarage42
@blendlinegarage42 Год назад
yes I would def start with OAP, If you need a little more, there is a hack for keeping the valves open down low in rev range involving a pair of shaft colars (its well documented on rennlist). The combination of the two mods make the car sound amazing and if you still want more go with exhaust. I think flat6 motorsport has a great set of heat shield oaps but not in titanium. i would pay the few hundred bucks and get the akra heat shield oaps. search rennlist marketplace and there should be an add for a company that still sells those akra oaps.

Sounds awesome! I just installed the same exhaust, and I keep getting a rattle from one of the resonators touching the main pipe. I tried adjusting it, but it looks like it keeps moving back after a cold start. Do you know what torque spec you applied to tighten the top clamps?
@blendlinegarage42
@blendlinegarage42 2 года назад
ah man, those clamps can be tightened for ever without providing any real resistance. Sadly there is no torque spec.. tighten it and then some more.. try to twist tue resonator and if it moved/budged, tighten more. Kinda sucks

From my research, the simplest and most effective sound upgrade is just replacing an over-axle pipe. Do you have any reason you didn’t go that path? I am expecting my gt4 in April next year.
@blendlinegarage42
@blendlinegarage42 2 года назад
Yeah mostly because I didn't want to risk changing the back pressure to the engine or give dealership the excuse to void my warranty in case of any engine issues.. Also I hear a lot of people complaining about too much drone with OAP. with the JCR non silenced and factory OPF, I get a more higher pitch sound compared to other cars that have both JCR and OAP (OPF delete). Those cars sound more throaty and not as high pitch (the ones I have seen at least)

did you receive your gt4 yet?😮😊 mink c im receiving my Spyder in May i cant wait i have been waiting probably as long as you and maybe a tiny less cause gt4 are more popular then spyder ...i wanted a gt4 myself but the list was longer

I'm interested to buy/install the same JCR exhaust. Has it made a noticeable 'real life' difference in tone (hard to convey via YT) and how would you describe it? Also, I've hesitated till now as I hear some of these aftermarket exhausts can create a droning at cruising speeds (2,500 - 3,500 rpm), have you experienced droning at all?
@blendlinegarage42
@blendlinegarage42 3 года назад
great questions. Noticable difference in sound yes. In performance (whp/wtq)? well i ran into some shocking results that I am looking to share in my next video (trying to confirm a few things before publishing). As for drone, yes there is absolutely drone around 2-3k. The workaround is to not cruise in high gears. If you drive the car sporty (keep it aboce 3k) there is no drone
@blendlinegarage42
@blendlinegarage42 3 года назад
to answer your question on how I would describe the sound, it def has higher pitch on the top of the rev range, some minor pops and crackle when you let off accelerator and more of a rumble when you start the car. To be honest, factory exhaust with valves open isnt as bad as everyones saying but it is subjective i suppose.

Does this modification kill your factory warranty on the drivetrain? Kind of silly for a little more sand
@blendlinegarage42
@blendlinegarage42 3 года назад
It does not affect the warranty. I checked with dealer before installing.
@atlasrex

@@blendlinegarage42 that is odd as my dealership told me if I had a major engine fail Porsche would almost surely use the exhaust change as a pretense to avoid a costly rebuild or replacement. Exhaust system is an integral Part of the smog system and impacts engine performance. The advice I received was wait until the warranty has expired at least before playing with the engine or drivetrain -- read the terms of the warranty- the fine print. Ask your dealer to write a note and sign it saying your exhaust system replacement does not invalidate any benefits of your warranty.
@blendlinegarage42
@blendlinegarage42 3 года назад
@@atlasrex so there are 3 different parts in the exhaust system. Headers, over axle pipes (OPF Filters) and the muffler. The header, cats and OPF filters are instrumented and monitored, they have higher impact of the back pressure of the exhaust. With all those in tact and factory, you are virtually not impacting the back pressure by replacing the muffler part only. If you had any engine issues, they would have to prove that it had to do with the muffler and that is virtually impossible. Headers are different story.
