Mate what’s the latest on this? I was considering buying JCR for my 992 GT3, I am based in the UK, I asked him for details of his factory, his quality assurance process etc. He went defensive and basically said if I ask him questions which he can’t answer then his product is not for me. I believe the guy just cooks up some Chinese made stuff somewhere with local welders and charges a premium for products which gradually impact your cars performance. With my GT4 in PDK from another UK based manufacturer I had a drop of around 20hp. Great sound but the day I put back the OEM exhaust back on, I could feel the car flying back again.
My understanding is that these spoilers decrees down-force and should be removed for balance if the rear wing angle is increased for more down-force. See page 7 of the "Driving on the Race Circuit" book that came with your car.
the Turbo S is great for driving around on the street but once you take it to cresol you'll wish you were back in your GT4. I anticipate you'll be trading the Turbo S for an RS variant of a GT4/GT3 within a year.
sensational car and much faster. You need a decat and X pipe to get a good sound. Please keep us posted about your thoughts. I have a brand new 718 spyder, I will see if I enjoy the roofless this summer. Otherwise I might go for a 991 turbo S or maybe a 458 Italia.
I am absolutely in love with it, Golden Yellow Metallic was a special color delivered only for this car. The wheels are gloss black with golden yellow metallic painted pin stripes. Gold/Black is a well known color combination representing exclusivity
Ah dude sad to see you don't have the GT4 anymore. I actually came to check your videos because I just put the JCR Manifold + high air flow catted link pipes on mine. Literally just got it remapped at a very reputable place in the UK and I made exactly 0 hp gains. Same as you found I think the JCR claims are false, at least on a dyno :) I thought about trading mine for a 991.2 GT3 last month, even went to test drive it, but I couldn't bring myself to part with the GT4... I still think it's the best looking of the GT cars, and the GT3 didn't feel much better either, just different. Congrats on the new car though, it does look very good. The quad tail pipes look much better than the 2 oval ones.
man, I can't tell you how many people have told me this! JCR marketing is so strong that I got attacked for just stating a basic fact backed with data. It's really hard to make meaningful power gain with NA engines. That said, I hope you are at least happy about the sound!!
@@blendlinegarage42 haha I saw that, I read all the forum posts 😆. I was very curious to see if he would post some evidence but clearly there isnt any... what a pity. Thanks, yeah sounds good but i kindof wish I got the fabspeed headers. Had a bcracing backbox but changing the backbox gave mega drone. Back to OEM backbox and sounds good now 👌
@@mattsandford I talked to folks at ninemiester (also based in UK), they are fairly confident they can tune your car to get gains from JCR. I highly recommend them.
@@blendlinegarage42 Thanks man I'll chat to them. I need to reach out to them at some point anyway to get some of those awful looking silenced tips for tracks with noise limits... :D
generally yes, I see Exclusive Series go for $280K-$300K but like I said in the video I picked mine up for only $200k which is a steal. GT4 was traded back at MSRP ~130K and I had another car traded in to close the gap (cayenne coupe). Now I need another, less expensive daily vehicle :)
Hey, I live in the UK so I have a EU rear bumper - interesting video. I didnt realise there was a difference until watching this. I don't think it would bother me though! Always interested to see what you do next. I watched your exhaust pipe videos too. I settled on the JCR Manifold + race cats + oem backbox + bmc air intakes. I found changing the backbox just introduces too much drone and cabin noise (I was using the BCfabs backbox with JCR system but it was stupid loud). Have you heard the fabspeed manifolds though? I haven't heard them in person but over video they sound amazing. I'm getting mine remapped for the new exhaust system in a few days, and the MR forged rims. After that I'm probably going to get RPMTechnik crown wheel and pinion set to shorten my gear ratios (mines a manual). I thought of getting the MR coilovers but I'll see how it feels after all the other mods. Thinking of a carbon rear wing + air intakes + bonnet as well since I'm already rocking the GT Silver and black theme which looks pretty good! Cant wait to see what you do next, keep it up!
Your dyno result says nothing about the so called lost horsepower after installing the jcr exhaust. Utterly nonsense because you test on another dyno than JCR. 10hp is probably the result of the flywheel setting on your dyno or more resistance in the dyna. Perhaps different altitude or a full fuel tank. 10 hp is not enough to make conclusions
Well documented bro! Love to see this kind of content. On my e90 335i I went with the Euro-spec headlights because I hated the amber reflectors inside the housing.
yes, thats the setup. Skip to 2:35 for sound inside cabin, it's muffled due to wind but you can get the idea, it sounds very vibrant inside cabin as well
This is a lot easier than I thought. Hopefully I don't forget to disconnect the battery lol. I am getting magnetic one soon. Thank you for the video. There was a moment of crisis when your voice dropped significantly but it recovered later.
Recently saw a GT4 for sale in this exact same spec, Python Green with gold rims, except it had carbon ceramic brakes with yellow calipers. It was a CPO car with a great price tag. I hate it I missed out on that one. I just love the green + gold combo...
hmmm. all the hard or interesting parts were skipped. sorry but knowing how to remove the trim removing and actually installing the filter would have been good on video.
Thanks for the video but plz oh plz lay off the hand gestures... Likes rubbing on everything and touching everything with the hands while talking. Drives me nuts. It looks kind of funny and not funny haha!
Great video!! I was wondering if you can point me to where you got the gold Porsche Race stripes? I see that Porsche normally does not offer this color.
thank you! it used to be a site called renndecal but sadly porsche threatened to sue them so they stopped printing them. I think you can get the porsche factory ones for 992 Carrera in aurum and they should pretty much fit 718s the same way. Also most of reputable decal shops can print these decals but matching color and details (like the width of the stripe) is hit and miss with some
What a fantastic sound. A GT4 is definitely my "attainable" dream car. ❤ (need a save up a bit as I've just splashed out on an '05 DC5 Integra Type R lol).
Do you think I can fit a generic 2.5" pipe over the muffler outlet in place of the tips? Trying to figure out if I can install turn away pipes to lower the volume for certain track days.
We couldn’t hear most of what you are saying as the annoying music on the background is covering up most of your speech. Not sure why the music is playing.
@blendlinegarage42 - I plan to install a JCR OAP. Do you think I can perform the job with the following limitations? 1. Using mechanic ramp (backing it up to the ramp; not using jackstands) 2. Without removing rear wheels (since I'm using a ramp)
Got new 718 GTS 4.0. Would you recommend upgrading the 'link OAP' first or upgrade to this 'valved race pipe'? I'm leaning towards link OAP first simply because of current budget (can afford it now). I also feel that other brands don't make as good of a product (especially OAP) in titanium with nice heat shield wrapping. Otherwise, I would've gone with SOUL or Fabspeed for a cheaper setup. Do you have a recommendation that can compete with JCR's?
yes I would def start with OAP, If you need a little more, there is a hack for keeping the valves open down low in rev range involving a pair of shaft colars (its well documented on rennlist). The combination of the two mods make the car sound amazing and if you still want more go with exhaust. I think flat6 motorsport has a great set of heat shield oaps but not in titanium. i would pay the few hundred bucks and get the akra heat shield oaps. search rennlist marketplace and there should be an add for a company that still sells those akra oaps.
yes from 2800-3300 is pretty boomy, but you can do down/up one gear and its all good. mostly an issue when you are crusing in 7th gear (pdk) but if you down one to 6 it goes away (at cost of higher mpg)
Car sounds amazing! I’ve been eyeing the JCR exhaust but can’t decide between the silenced and non silenced pipes. I don’t think either will pass Laguna Secas strict dB limits either way. What are your thoughts on the silenced and non silenced versions?
do you have overaxle pipes? without them the jcr backbox is pretty quiet! the non silenced is still valved so it has a quieter mode. If all fails i think there are adapter silencing tips you can install
@@blendlinegarage42 no OAPs yet and that’s where I’ve considered keeping the stock box and maybe doing OAPs instead. Guess I’ll just have to buy them and hear it for myself. Thanks for the input!
@@AirsoftFanatics if you want volume, go with oap, if you want tone (high pitch gt3 style) go with JCR backbox. But the combo is pretty loud. There is also a hack on rennlist with stock exhaust where you put a colae on the valves and it keeps them open below 4k range and makes crazy impact. Id prob do oap and valve colars first before spending big bucks on jcr if i were you.
Sounds great man. Would have loved a vid with rear OEM exhaust (box) still in place though... I'm thinking of only doing the OAP and leaving everything else stock.
