Installing Kicker Hideaway Subwoofer in the WRX

That green wire looks a little thin for the power, why are you not using the red wire that is supplied?

In my Jeep there are extra spots in the interior fuse panel. I hooked mine up there with a 15A fuse, makes the install way easier since I don't need to fish through the firewall.

With the RCA input do you have to switch to low input on the sub?

You need to get someone with an oscilloscope to set the gain. Otherwise I wouldn't play with bass boost other than to turn it off, the crossover you should set around 80 to 100hz. That power wire is going to fray if you leave it against the bare metal, it needs to be passed through the grommet you ran it beside. The remote wire you tapped is a short circuit risk since you cut the excess off after tapping, it needs to be taped up. Other than that I enjoyed the video. Hope this info helps you.

Nice walkthrough. Too bad they don't make cable management channels in cars like they do PC cases. Speaking of; maybe it's my PC speakers, but I can still hear the WUB-WUB's through your camera mic.

Obviously you are not looking to join a bass contest but do you these are worth it?

Would you recommend this subwoofer? I've already replaced the factory speakers in my Wrx with the Kicker upgrade speakers and tweeters, which is MUCH better than stock, but wanting a little more bass

Any way to fix it in place instead of having it roll around everywhere?

Gain should usually be 30% and crossover just shy of 100. But it's personal preference. Just if you go too high, it'll blow.

Is it better to put in cabin than in the trunk?

That power cable is way too thin, the red part is already the minimum gauge.

Man please do some research on audio before making a video showing people what to do... Sure that janky and mega thin power cable might work for the hideaway, because it's only like 100w's or something. As for where to put the positive terminal, it doesn't matter. It's all making contact to the terminal, and your amp isn't strong enough for it to matter anyways. However anyone watching should NOT follow what this guy is doing. Did you check to even see if your amp can support high level? Does the high level input on your amp have RCA? Or is it a different connector? I just don't understand the reasoning on wanting to save every penny on a car you enjoy driving, and enjoy taking care of.... Like idk if you're like my Dad and have that Asian way of thinking that "oh that specialty cable made for amps is just marketing fluff to charge extra money. I'll make it myself" although half true, there's a reason amp power kits have beefy gauge wires, and there's a reason why LOC exists, and theres a reason why proper cables exist for all this stuff. So you don't end up with a janky setup that can have potential risks. Like you're obviously very proud of your car and what not.... Treat it like you do. Don't cheap out. From modifying a bunch of cars... Trust me. It's just better to wait and save up money and do it properly... Instead of trying to save a penny, and doing it jank and potentially causing more problems. As for the gain and all that.... Just read the manual and it'l ltell you how to set your gain and crossovers.
