Yes, the HS10 is typically anchored. Some larger enclosures can rest in the cargo area/trunk without screwing them down by their sheer weight, but smaller subs like this require being screwed down. We include brackets for that, as well as hardware.

Does that receiver have a subwoofer output and a dedicated subwoofer level control on the screen?

@@KICKER-AUDIO no sir.just the typical bass,treble,left,right,etc..... nothing labeled sub option.I have everything set to 0.only thing i have changed is the way its played.It's set on "classic". I have the PT250 with a built in amp 10inch sub in box.

Not including any line out converter or load adaptor you may need (depends on the vehicle - our Tech Support will be able to answer that), it is effectively plug and play.

You probably don’t know shit about installation. For an aftermarket radio with RCA outputs this is the wrong product anyway.

Mainly because most people will tie into to speaker wires.

More often than not, these are added to factory systems. Those with aftermarket head units are more likely to have bigger and badder gear. If Kicker put RCA connection people would complain it have no speaker wire in.

@@firebirdude2 They could include a set of plugs and attached wires, you know, like everyone else does. If most are installing bigger and badder systems, why do most if not all similarly- or lower-priced subs come with RCA jacks built in?

I’m confused with the rca deal! So I have an Alpine Ute-73bt in my foxbody, would like some bass nothing crazy like high school days. So would the rca go from back of head unit to the speaker? Also what are ppl saying about tying into speaker wires?

@@yoter06 Most of the other subs I looked at came with the option of connecting to the car's existing speaker wires as well as a pair of RCA jacks to connect to the head unit. If your sub has a set of RCA jacks, and your head unit also has RCA jacks, it's a very quick and simple connection between the two. It saves a lot of hassle digging out speaker wires from behind the car's panels, and figuring out the polarity so you don't hook them up backwards and lose a lot of bass. In your case, you would run an RCA cable between the jacks on the back of your head unit and a sub that has jacks. You would not connect your RCA jacks on the head unit to the speakers because the RCA jacks don't output enough power to drive speakers. They're strictly for connecting to an amplifier, or powered subwoofer.

The wire for "switch" can be tapped into a source that comes on with the key turn, is that what you mean?

12V means it uses the blue remote wire to turn on/off. DC means it looks for signal on the audio input wires and the blue wire is not needed.

Either is fine.

You'll probably experience more noise and distortion from speaker levels, especially at high output power. Most people won't notice though.

@@amoctez2 with properly set gains, why would it matter whether I use a speaker input or RCA converter; also, what innerds does a LOC have that reduced signal distortion?

You using sub out rca's or rear. Out rca's?

Gain is not a volume knob. It is to adjust the voltage to your input. Bass boost on zero.

Pretty much any Kicker dealer can install this. Its very straight forward for an experienced installer.

Not even close as there is almost zero space under the TM3's front seats. You can barely slide a sheet of paper under them :-). I'm guessing you don't have the factory subwoofer so you could always install a sub in the factory location (behind passenger side panel in the trunk). 8" underseat subs fit there pretty easily, not sure if it's big enough for the HS10 however.

If you are using speaker wire as inputs, you do not need to connect the remote turn-on. It will turn itself on/off. If you are using the RCA output of an aftermarket head unit, you will need to find a 12V wire in the car that turns on/off with the car. Connect the blue remote wire on the HS8 or 10 to that.

For most vehicles, you wont need anything besides the tools to install it. You will, however need to know hot to find the proper speaker wires (not all of them have bass). Our thought process is this: the HS10 is typically wired high level, so no RCA should be needed. The money saved in producing parts that will be largely unnecessary are costs we don't have to pass on. As far as it not being a 10" we can understand the confusion. The cone is in fact a 10" cone, we simply made a custom basket to allow for a thinner enclosure. We didn't skimp on speaker, we just saved a bit on size to make it easier to fit in more places.

@@KICKER-AUDIO What is the cone diameter and what is the range allowable for it to be considered a 10" woofer? I would think as many people in which order this have RCA outputs as those that don't. And if that wasn't the case Kicker wouldn't have gone through the hassle of creating an adapter. No competitors do this, they all have both. I can't imagine the cost to Kicker would have been much. When I said $1 i wasn't kidding, I bet that is at most the cost increase to of added this, so charge another $5 for the unit and you get a 5 fold return and are more competitive with the market. The alternative is the end user pays ~$15 for an adapter harness which is another connection failure point, more cable to hide and makes your unit cost $385, not $370. I'm not alone, even crutchfield reps agree with me and think this is petty. It lost you guys a sale at least in my case, and I doubt I'm alone. FYI...

There is no universal standard for measuring cone diameter. We created adapters for people who don't have our amps, as we deliver one of widest input voltage range tolerances in the industry. There are few instances where people have to use an LOC with our amplifiers, as we generally accept from 125mV all the way up to 40V. This largely negates the need for an LOC, which (especially in analog and lower cost output converters) can induce noise and affect frequency response. especially at higher volumes. Our converters are not analog, and are completely flat from 20Hz to 20kHz.

It would be much better if manufacturers quoted the SD (cone area). But I suppose most people wouldn't understand that.

You have three choices in that case: cut the RCA terminals and solder them to the harness we supply, get a separate RCA cable and cut the ends off of one side, or get this KICKER KISL adapter: www.kicker.com/2-channel-speaker-rca-converter

@@KICKER-AUDIO Oh. So do you still ship it to Germany? If so why do the distribution guys say different? I've asked some of the biggest German car audio stores and they all tell me the same thing... The HS10 has "end of life". This is odd. I ordered the HS10 via e UK webshop now, I hope I can get one this way...

You would have to determine the RMS and ohm load of the sub. You would also have to find out if it is self-amplified.

Well, cabin gain of most vehicles starts to kick in around 70-90 hz (depending of size of car) which increases the output below that at about 12db/octave. This is why these small SEALED subs can actually be audible down to 20 hz. A sealed enclosure also happens to have a 12 db/octave roll off which allows them to play pretty linear below their -3db point. So, even if this sub has a -3db point at around 50-60 hz it will sound pretty good in an automotive environment.

There are several reasons that could have happened. Defect is certainly one of them, but wiring/setup is also a possibility. Did you contact our technical support department for help? support@kicker.com is their email.

@@KICKER-AUDIO sure did contact you and was told I needed to contact the installer (audio express). Being my second unit in 2 years a defect is certainly against the odds. Oh well, water under the bridge at this point.
