@@TahoeSteve after I watched you video I order my set and I finally installed on my 08 Silverado, I can't describe you how much this exaust system looks ,I order the speed engineering full double exaust with headers, takes a little time but worth every second I expend on it, thanks again because for people like you that have the patience to make this type of videos people like me we can try us own upgrades.

You bet brother! My project is a bit more involved so I reached out to Speed Engineering and they are awesome. I want to put true duals in my Suburban. Below is their message to me for your, and your subscribers, info. Cheers! Thank you for your interest. The headers and true dual exhaust systems can be found below. The longtube headers are offered in either a 1 3/4'' or 1 7/8'' primary tube diameter. Both are currently on backorder. Our true dual exhaust systems will be designed for the pickups. They can be used on the SUVs with some modification. The hanger locations will be different between the two, it will require modifying the hangers on our exhaust for use. You would be looking at needing the Extra/Crew cab version of the exhaust for the added length. The '99-'06 trucks have a rear crossmember for a driveline support bearing, so the connection pipes have a hump in them. Just get shorty's, it wont make much of a difference on a stock motor anyways, alot easier to deal with and it's not 10,000 bastards to get to it when the starter shits and needs replaced

+Chris Arnold I had ~ 3/16 to the front driveshaft. Keep in mind i got the 1 3/4 headers. if i had ordered 1 7/8, would have been toooo close for comfort.

I had shorty headers on my 97 5.7 Z71 with Flowmaster mufflers and it sounded nice. People would say that they could hear the Flowmaster muffler but that it was more aggressive sounding than other trucks. The more aggressive part was from the shorty headers. I now have a 97 5.7 c1500 and I'm going to do the shorty headers again but this time I will remove the factory 2" exhaust and replace it with 2.5" all the way back with Borla straight through mufflers and a H pipe to eliminate as much restriction as possible. And I'm going to have it as a true duel, no 2 into 1 at any point. Stock engines get very little benefit from long tube headers so the extra cost, clearance issues and hassle of install isn't worth it.

you're right. unfortunately for me, hindsight is 20/20

Locks in moisture and heat within the manifold and causes major oxidation issues, not the best idea really, it actually heats up the exhaust charge, which is not what ya want, more heat=more volume, which equals less flow potential

Alexander Cronk yes, I did an engine rebuild several months before installing the headers and I did have two broken manifold bolts.

Tahoe Steve hey man been watching some of your videos and they’re a lot of help.. one question though. Have you ever had a problem fueling up ? I have a 05 Tahoe and I have a problem fueling up it’s seems to act like the tank is full and in some point if you leave it pumping alone it would stop fueling as if it was full and fuel would come out from where u pump .. if you can help with any advise towards that I really appreciate it

Pre cat o2 sensors are re-used. After cat sensors need to get "tuned out" with a professional tune.

Edgar Montoya I'm about to install these exact headers on my 06 5.3... do I need to get it retuned immediately after for "tuning out" the o2 sensors or will it be OK for the time being? thanks

You'll be good for the time being but it's good if you want to retune it again

Wayne - thanks for subscribing. For the rear O2 sensors, i just did not re-install them. Afterwards, I got a professional tune (check out www.blackbearperformance.com/) and they "tuned out" the rear O2 sensors so the idiot light stays off.

Not that I am aware of. The pipes I installed (Speed Engineering) are meant to be ORY pipes

Engine's ARE the same but you have better options for long tube headers. I think the pickups can get true dual exhaust. Check out www.speed-engineering.com and check. i would go true dual if i had the option, but on SUV's the gas tank is in the way

Alex--------On my '88 GMC 4x4 pick-up, I used short tube headers by Edelbrock. I used Edelbrock because I live in Calif. and the E headers have the smog provision. All other headers don't have the smog requirement "air tubes" But, I used short headers with a "down pipe" on each side that goes into a "Y" pipe to the cat converter. A couple of header bolts were a bitch to get in. I also changed to one inch long bolts and not three quarter inch. The shorter bolts like to loosen up. I torque the one inch bolts real tight and they don't get loose. I bolt the headers into aluminum AFR cylinder heads. THere is plenty of clearance with the down pipes. THis was a great video.

Bryan - yeah - The factory exhaust manifolds are very well made and shorty's might get you an extra 5 hp. I'm lucky to live in a state with no emission inspections so the long tubes and ORY pipe made all the difference in the world. And it sounds like an angry beast (but not obnoxious). I can't speak on behalf of the Silverados, however, on the SUVs, the driver's side comes VERY close to the front driveshaft even with the 1 3/4 version. Perhaps someone who has done this install on a Silverado might chime in..

The egr? It just send some of the exhuast gas back to the cylinder to be burnt again

Dylannnnn1 Do welds I have the same headers on my Sierra. Clamps suck & let exhaust out definitely after a while.

I ended up getting the driver side in from top was way easier slid right in after I removed steering wheel rod... mine was an 06 Silverado 1500 btw if this helps anybody.

Hard to say because I put in a larger aftermarket trans cooler around the same time as the headers (running 2 trans coolers). I can tell you that (with all that) I never run hot, even in summer. Hope that helps.

Mine runs about 140° Idk if that is hot or hotter but it sounds like a reasonable number

Hunter - Your setup will be completely different. As a matter of fact, you have it better than us SUV guys because you should be able to go with a true dual exhaust (vs a y pipe). I recommend checking out some of the vids done by Silverado guys. Best of luck!

@@user-qu8xi6zl1n since its uncatted then the back o2 sensors are not needed. They only regulate COT so after install you can just unplug them and you would have to have someone tune them out the system. Turn off COT and then if you want the check engine light off then you would have to disable all the alarms for o2 Sensor #2. The o2 Sensor#1 are for your STFT and LTFT and needed up front. Best part is it gives you a bung for your wideband on the YPipe

Your truck will be different because (I'm pretty sure) you do not have a Y-Pipe. Check out amzn.to/2SVR15S for more options for more vehicles.
