Just how far I can push it safely not trying reach its limits but just getting pretty close, I am installing a ultra flow with injectors just never really seen any opinions on the ultra flow only flow max +
@Alex-i176 ultra flow usually ships with race thrust bearing, I drove the uf for 6 months with more than 36 psi . It was a very solid turbo. Got beat on several times a day, only driven hard. Made 732whp on the old ultra flow, pretty damn good if you ask me
Kern, I did pure 800 swap over the last 2 weeks (first thing I’ve ever done on a car besides a cat back) and you and kies are the only reason it happened, thank you. 😁
Thanks for this video man. There arent a lot of install videos like the ones that you put out. From the quality to just the humor. Appreciate you brother🫡 Shoutout Kern 💯
Will be super interesting to see what you get out of this on a conservative track tune with Less backpressure in the exhaust housing/exhaust manifod and the newer higher flowing 76mm inlet. I am curious what your WGDC numbers will look like on higher levels of boost versus my Ultraflow set-up. May want to consider some enlargment of the exhaust after the downpipe to keep the flow rates up there. Add all this new stuff to the fact that Shawn is going to start offering T51R mods on the DAW turbos in the spring and it's a great time to be a DAW customer!
Great video! I know Shawn and the crew at DAW are probably cringing every time you refer to their turbos as "hybrids" 😂 Dont get me wrong, I love my DAW UF.
So I got a FlowMax withe the UF compressor wheel and race thrust assembly right before this came out? which one do you think spools faster? Shawn told me the v2.5+(UF) is still faster, but idk
As someone who had the flowmax then went to the ultraflow I think you’ll regret not going ultraflow from the get go even though you probably got the turbo for free from Shawn 😅
11:22 “With bigger … [everything] … it will allow it to spool up quickly” Genuine question: with larger ports and the same amount of exhaust gas and a bigger turbo, wouldn’t it spool up less quickly? The airspeed would be lower wouldn’t it? I understand that the top end will improve but I don’t understand how it wil spool up faster. I think that’s why we have variable geometry turbos that will mimic a small turbo at low rpm and change to a large one at high rpm. I’m just an armchair ‘expert’ so please correct me if/where I’m wrong. Tia!
spool is based on a lot of factors. higher flowing turbo needs a higher flowing exhaust housing and manifold to run efficiently. if you run to big of a turbo with too small of a housing, it will hurt flow. this is one of the biggest issues with hybrid turbos that simply reuse the stock exhaust manifold. this is the same reason a bigger intake can flow more air.
I was thinking of going this direction with the DAW for running pump gas on a b58tu. Do you think the zf8 would need building at these levels? (91/93 octane)
I got a 435i a bit ago and now I regret being a cheapo and not buying a b58. I already spent extra fixing issues that could’ve been spent on a 440i. :/ the b58 sounds so much more reliable and looks easy to make big power. Turbo upgrades on n55s require wayyy too much work to just do it in a garage like this. You live and you learn I guess.
I got a m340 and honestly I just run it stock. I got mhd and xhp purchased but I don’t use it. I rather just keep stock reliably. I don’t care about being the fastest because I know there is always someone faster. Enjoy the car for what it is
They both have their pros and cons, is the b58 better? Yes, but the N55 is still a great engine you can get 500whp very reliably just as easily as a b58. You'll never be happy if you don't love what ya got brotha
@@elijahlane411 I can't think of a single n55 pro over the b58 besides it being slightly cheaper. Yea you can hit 500 hp with a n55 but it does require a whole lot more work and you're definitely pushing it. I still def love my 435i but I be watching so much b58 content bc thats whats being uploaded lol
I have the same one. Trying to install it now but the oil line at the bottom of the turbo is a pain. I was also told this turbo will be better than the last generation UF.
@Kerm417 So with the troubles are you still happy with your DAY Ultra Flow X? Can't decide if I wnt Ultra Flow or 6466/6769..... Any feedback would be much appreciated
Happy to see this built . I do hesitate between ultraflow version and turbo systems stage 3 rated for 700 crank hp I saw some stage 2 turbo system ran 100-200 under 5 sec and run 1/4 in 10.00s I will wait your feedback Thanks
i am not going to be going for records with this turbo so this isn't the place to get that info. but i will share results for daily driving and track duty when i head to the road course this summer.
Just letting you know my exhaust flange nuts came out with the studs when I removed my turbo. I ended up researching about it online, the advice I got was when you re-screw the studs back in the with nut on it apply a bit of threadlocker and hand tighten it back on. If you guys have a better method let me know but this is what I was recommended just thought I’d share what I ended up doing.
I want to delete pcv on my M240i gen 1. Do you recommend the ross racing V1 kit ? Just the hose from pcv? Without catch tank? Is it enough to dont worry about pcv failure again ?
