It's a nightmare to install as a rear-facing car seat. We tried everything recommended -- towel, different positions, etc. -- and no matter what we did or how much we tightened it, it ALWAYS moved waaaaay more than 1 inch in any direction. We got ours for free as a gift but this car seat is so difficult, we might have to buy a different one.
Using this as a spare seat for my cousins baby girl in my car... The recline level is INSANE!!!!!!!!! I would NEVER personally buy a safety first seat...
I have used every muscle in my body to get this carseat to stay tight and locked in using the lower seat anchors and no luck..and what the mother of god do they mean by try a different seat position? ... i will be returning this junk
Taking mine back I cannot adjust the shoulder straps and have tried everything and true for the passanger in front no leg room; it works ok but again I got no inst booklet and cannot adjust the shoulderstraps?? the strap in the back does not seem to work??
I completely agree. You cannot safely anchor when rear facing. And using a towel to assist with anchoring is outrageous! You are violating safety protocols in doing so as the manufacturer does not test with a towel. Do not buy for rear facing. I returned mine a purchased a much safer car seat.
Nearly impossible to install in the "rear-facing" position of my 06 explorer without compromising the front passenger, or driver's legroom depending on which side of rear seat it's installed. This includes trying it in the center of rear seat as well !!!!!!!!!!! Oh, and the fact that the instructions suggest to use a rolled up towel under the foot of seat to get it level to ground is redonkerous!! SHOULD NOT BE ADVERTISED FOR NEWBORNS AT ALL, ABSOLUTELY NO FOR REAR FACING!
Every vehicle is different and the seats are all different. Some cars have more slanted seats, therefore they recommend using a towel to get the proper recline. Except for the very expensive Radian and Chicco Nextift, most carseats will recommend using a towel if needed to get the proper recline.
Many Certified Child Passenger Safety technicians will tell you that not only are rolled up towels or pool noodles perfectly safe, they're recommended if you can get a better install with them. Better install equals safer child. You're the joke.

Nope wrong never use both one or the other . you should be sued for giving false information to people and endangering the lives of their children please take a car seat safety class ;)
