I'm a 48 (almost 49) year old guy in Ontario, Canada and I've made this version of the Instant Pot stew a few times now! The first time I did it, I put in a bunch of fresh dill as you suggested. It was really good! But the last couple times I just put in the dill they sell in plastic boxes. I'm going to make it again today. Sometimes I still coat the stewing meat in flour and a few spices as other videos suggest. Sometimes I forget to buy the tomato paste (I think last time I forgot it and substituted with a bit of spaghetti sauce). This time I'm going to add frozen mixed vegetables at the end.
I changed it up alittle. I actually put beef bone broth. It was AMAZING. This is my only go to recipe for beef stew. And its SIMPLE. No flouring the beef(I don't add the flour mixture at the end either because the starch from the potatoes is enough) no wine. I found out that adding wine and worschesire only makes things to pungent and gives heartburn! Just simple fresh ingredients. Less is more. My friend BEGS me to make this stew for him when he flies into town. He travels the world for business loves fine dining and this is the ONLY beef stew he will eat. Thanks!
This is the most delicious recipe. I used organic beef broth added seasoning to veggies in pot. I mixed broth with tomato paste and 2table spoons of corn starch , a splash of worcestershire sauce, and seasonings. I added it to vegetables then added meat. I poured red wine 🍷 ( Cabernet Sauvignon) 1/4 of the bottle mixed everything. I skipped the peas. This is the best recipe I have ever found that taste so Incredible! Oh and after I cooked in intsapot I placed in a crock pot for 3hours on high and served with sourdough bread. Thank you for your lovely family recipe! The dill and fresh garlic just made it even more delicious!
I have to say I struggled with the idea of not browning the meat first. I've never NOT done that, but finally I just said "screw it" and in everything went as instructed. It was so freaking good I could hardly believe it. Hubby isn't crazy about dill so I left that out, but otherwise followed the recipe to the letter. It almost makes me glad winter is coming so I can make this comfort stew on a regular basis🥰
Made this for lunch/dinner today and it is FABULOUS. Way better than slow cooker beef stew, the Instant Pot cooks it perfectly. I love that you use all natural ingredients, no oil, very clean recipe. It was thick enough without the slurry, very very good! (I'll confess I didn't add dill or garlic or anything, it tasted so good as-iis!)
I've been watching a bunch of instant pot recipes in the last week trying to learn the ins and outs and find the good chefs, and yours is the first channel among them that I've actually chosen to subscribe to. I like your authenticity! Also, I have no idea how on earth I could source that much dill! Our grocer sells it in 1oz packages!
Wow! This was the first meal I ever made on my instapot! (Not include the two hard boiled eggs...that's not a proper meal.) It was an astounding success! Thanks so much for putting this fellow Canadian (I'm in the Atlantic provinces...the other side of the country) on the right cooking and instapot track! I'm truly grateful.
I have just done your recipe, let me tell you this is so delicious!! the fresh dill, since I was cutting it, the smell was inviting to eat immediately. This is the best recipe ! Thank you!
I cooked this stew and it was so good ! I’ve never had dill and I can’t believe the flavor in it. I added a few ingredients of my own and it came out amazing ! I highly recommend this recipe.
I cooked this stew today for the first time. Love it! I've tried quite a few Instant Pot stew recipes and this one is the best so far. I really like the dill added at the end. It gives an amazing flavour. I've always loved dill but I've never thought to add it to a stew. Thanks for posting.
Omg! My wife and I loved it! It is very easy to make! And you can add anything you like to it. But I did exactly what you did but no cornstarch. Thank you very much!
This recipe was excellent! You’re certainly right - fresh dill makes the recipe. My polish family uses fresh dill with everything, it’s definitely a hidden gem of Eastern European cuisine.
Hello! I made your Delicious stew for lunch since it’s a cool day in Fl. I did brown my meat in my instapot with a little flour. My husband ate 3 bowls, he said it was delicious! Thanks for sharing!
Hi Olena, you are so right that this recipe is good for cold weather . It is like that now and your stew is a perfect choice for supper plus I have some beef in my freezer. Thanks , you are always helpful for ideas and your cooking is just fun. 👍
The fact that you didn't edit out the end where you burned your mouth is what made me subscribe. not only did you make a delicious dish but you also showed that you are human, you are as imperfect as the rest of us and I love that. Greeting from North Carolina :)
I just tried this for dinner tonight and LOVED it. The dill and corn starch really made a huge difference, I will definitely be making this in the future. Thank you for sharing!
Got this one going right now. Smells really good. Those are the potatoes I used. I made my own stock with this thing and froze it for later. Now it's in there. Yours looks delicious.
Love this. I did add my secret ingredient. A tablespoon of grape jelly to the top of the tomato paste. Smeared it like you suggested. It turned out great. Ty.
Thanks for the recipe. Nice to see землячку :)) недавно переехала в сша и понятия не имею как они готовят в этой штуке. Сейчас попробую по вашему рецепту. Спасибо!
Tried this (as my first Instant Pot recipe too) and it turned out great! I really appreciated the simple, easy to find list of ingredients with nothing extra. Thank you!
Finally! I found this video again! 😊... I made this when this video first came out and I loved it! Then I wanted to make it again but I couldn't find the video! ... Now I will SAVE this video to my favorites list. Thank you for posting! Hope that you are safe and doing well.
I made this last night and it was so good! The frozen peas thing was new to me. I like my food peppery so I only added more pepper, with everything the same. So good. Thank you.
I think this is pretty much the American Recipe also, though I've never used dill,......I just needed it for the Instant Pot, timing! Thanks, its perfect! 👍😊
I have been craving a good stew for a while now. I watched your video and decide to try it, I was truly surprised how those flavors melded hands down this is the best stew I have ever made. My son absolutely loved it also. Thank you!
And i thought I was the only one who didn't add any Worcestershire Sauce to Beef stew, lol! That turned out looking amazing, gonna have to try using your method to thicken my gravy without sauting my meat in flour before adding any liquid. TY for the recipe and recommendations.
Made the beef stew it came out delicious very tender a slight sweetness to how I usually make it, maybe due carrots and peas but very good indeed. So easy to make also thanks.
Thank you for delivering this clueless bachelor a simple and delicious recipe to cook for himself. The music you chose was excellent too, felt like I was cooking in a Guy Ritchie film.
Even better than bouillon cubes is BONE BROTH which not only imparts wonderful flavor, but a super immune boost. Thank you for keeping it simple… just what I needed. 👍😘👏
Thank you for this recipe. It is truly amazing, the amount of work needed to put in (very little), for the end result (something extremely tasty). I love how using cheap cuts it tastes great. I've hated dill my whole life and this recipe has changed my mind completely on dill. Thank you!
Love how you left the part where you burned your mouth!! Because that is real life! Haha. I am going to make stew for dinner. It snowed in Colorado yesterday and today (September 8-9) it was 100° 3 days prior! Crazy weather calls for stew!!
This looked really good and you made it look so easy. Thank you. Girl...you should have let that cool. Oh my goodness. That’s what I tell my granddaughters...start tasting around the side, not in the middle. I’ll have to try the dill. Thanks for that tip.
Happy Hump Day, guys! I'm super excited to share this recipe with you because I feel like I have lots of tips and tricks for THE BEST beef stew ever. And also make sure to watch till the end for a tip on keeping your Instant Pot shiny. And you might even enjoy how I torture myself on camera at the end... Cheers, Olena.
I have an oven stew recipe, and every thing goes in raw, it takes 3 hours in the oven, I will do It in my new instant pot, thank you so much. And a lot faster.
Couldn't find fresh dill, but the parsley worked well. We cooked the stew two days ago, and froze some of it. Yesterday we thawed it in the microwave, and then heated it in a sauce pan. Fantastic! Couldn't tell it from the just refrigerated portion. Today I am trying to Freeze Dry two small trays, about 6 meal portions, and will let you know how it turns out.
Just tried the recipe and turned pretty good, this was an easy and better way to do the stew. Funny I am from Brazil (living in Boston) but this reminds me of my mother stew too. Thank you ;-)
Haha I just followed your recipe and it was the easiest thing I’ve ever done!!! Thank you!!! It’s still cooking so I can’t share my thoughts on the taste, but I’m sure it will be amazing!!!
Can you get the same result with canned diced tomatoes as with tomato paste? Making this tonight, but without dill. I'll try that next time, as I have none. This looks very good. Great video! 😜
I've got this cooking in my instant Pot right now minus the dill. My house smells amazing. Cant wait to eat! Thank you. Next time I'll try with dill. :-)
👋🏼 What a beautiful Lasagna! I can’t believe you make that in the instant pot. Ive really been enjoying watching your videos. You’re channel has so much to offer. ❤️This looks delicious and your clear presentation makes it look so easy. ❄️I am definitely going to try and make this but modified for my families dietary needs. Wow! I wish you much success with your channel. 🧑🍳You are very talented. I also make cooking videos and I just love that we can all learn from each other! 👍🏻 Thank you for sharing your skill with us.
