To make the Sauce at home: • Instant Pot Paneer But...
Butter chicken was invented in the 1950s in New Delhi at the MotiMahal Restaurant. The restaurant owner was displeased that there was tandoori chicken pieces left over that were going to waste, so he re cooked the chicken pieces in a tomato gravy! Thus the butter chicken was born and it spread all around the world.
Following in its original spirit, I realized that store brought Tomato Basil soup was very close to the creamy sauce used in the Butter chicken. I usually get Tomato Basil soup from Costco when its available and when I repurposed the leftover soup with Grilled chicken my kids loved it!
So I wanted to share this recipe on my channel and I hope its helpful to all the new folks who are new to their instant pots or Indian cooking or both.
Ingredients Required:
2 Lbs of Tomato Bisque/Basil Soup
1 Lb of Boneless chicken cut into small pieces.
1 Tbsp of Red chili Powder( as required)
1 Teaspoon of Garam Masala
1 Teaspoon of Coriander Powder
Salt as per taste
1 teaspoon of Kasoori Methi or Fenugreek Leaves. (optional)
1/2 cup of Butter (adjust as per taste)
