So nice to see a good old fashioned basic recipe for corned beef and cabbage. But updated for the insta pot. Although we never cook carrots or onions with ours. We have never cared for the flavor profile. I may just try it in the instant pot this year. Going to watch your other video now. Oh, have you showed people how to choose a corned beef for cooking?

Irish Rose For choosing, go to Whole Foods. Pick the last package of any meat up. It's corned beef. 👌🏻🍀 You have already won the pandemic game. Take that last packet of meat that was on the shelf and go triumphantly to the checkout. At home check out RU-vid to find out how to cook your prize. I just about cried when I found your channel. I grew up cooking with my Nan, but she was not big on recipes. So many of your cooking methods, products used, and the care you put into your food reminds me so much of her. This was a dish that I always wanted to make after she passed but I was intimidated by it. I am excited to give it a try! Thank you so much for sharing all of this. Truly!

I love the look of your corn beef and cabbage dinner and seeing it reminded me of the first time I ate some while in the Air Force. I had never eaten it before going into the military, but immediately fell in love with it and the chefs made corn beef regularly and kept us well fed with it. They usually just served sliced corn beef with something like mashed potatoes and gravy and it was one of my favorite meals. I found it difficult to find any where I live here in Arkansas and while growing up my grandmother and mother never cooked it.

Mary, made my corned beef in the Instant Pot - I did put a can of Guinness and then added water to come up to the meat otherwise followed your recipe. I’ve cooked corned beef many times on the stove as well as in a crock pot. I have to say this was by far the fastest and easiest way to cook it! The veggies were cooked to perfection- absolutely perfect, the meat came out delicious!! This recipe is what I’ll be using from now on! Thank you😊

I put onions in with the carrots and potatoes. I place the cabbage on top of that or in a completely separate pot if it won't all fit. This year's meal was great. I am happy to have your instruction for cooking it in the Instant Pot though! Next year I'm cooking it this way! I also like your recommendation for quick release much better. Hi Sweet Mary, I have my corned beef in my pressure cooker right now and it smells sooo good that we've decided to have our dinner for lunch - can't wait to try it. Thank you for remembering the small details when you demonstrate your methods and recipes. I inherited a pressure cooker but have been too scared to use it until today. You took all of the guess work out of it. We watched your video together and approached the pressure cooking together and nothing's blown up yet! My MIL would be happy if she could see us using it at last. You and your men stay safe and well. We're watching your part of the US every day it's all a bit scary. I live in Western Australia where we have no active cases now, so it can be done. Much love, Margaret.

Mary, thanks to this video I FINALLY will start using my pressure cooker, which I did not fully understand how to use - and was scared to use - until NOW! It has sat in my home a long time, because NO VIDEOS I WATCHED explained how it operates in a way that reached me and made me feel I would be safe 😮😢 with it! And sooooo many vids DO NOT explain what "against the grain is" nor make sure their camera work REALLY shows the cuts CLEARLY so one can truly see the grain. In other contexts, "against the grain" can mean PARALLEL TO (as in "leaning against a wall, or against a body as in a hug) -- whereas in this context, it means PERPENDICULAR TO. TY!❤🎉😊😅

I just want to give a great big THANKS OF APPRECIATION for telling us what appliances you are utilizing in your recipes. So many times I am wanting to purchase an item that I am seeing on a video and there is no mention of it in the video or in the video description. I am of course speaking about lg. type appliances for the most part. So, I appreciate it so very much. I appreciate ALL you do for this incredible channel and all the super hard work that you put into it. Your joy in helping others learn about this subject just comes right through the screen and into our homes. It is such a blessing to LOVE your work. I am sure you know that but I just wanted to tell you anyway. Your a gem Mary and Texas is blessed (once again) to have a beautiful soul like yours within it's borders. Have a very Happy Thanksgiving with your friends and family and God bless you.❤

The "two levels" you are referring too is the fat layer that's located on the point end of a brisket. The point end will always have this layer. This is typically where two muscles (I can't remember the proper names) fold over each other. The flat will not have this layer. You can tell which is which by observing how the brisket looks. If the brisket is flatter and more uniform looking, it is most likely the flat. If the brisket is thicker and more irregular looking in shape, it's probably the point. Splitting a point at the fat layer is what I typically like to do as well. But it's perfectly fine to simply cut it as is as well. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
