👌👏Adam, I am the author of the book, "Blood Under False Pressure, the Truth About High Blood Pressure" and you are one of the few who have given a common sense approach to the Blood Pressure misconception. Blood Pressure itself is not the problem But a symptomatic issue, The real problem is america's health issues in our body is causing a Blood Pressure rereaction. Change our diet and change your life. Fix our diet, stress n anxiety, health problems, hydration, infections, inflammation, and vitamins Deficiency than your blood pressure will fix itself. Thank you
That's not a practical answer to our hypertension epidemic. Millions of retired people with no job stress have alarmingly high blood pressure. I know many of them myself. The answer is a better diet and vigorous exercise. We've known this for decades.

Whenever my blood pressure is going to be measured I do deep breathing up to 15 minutes before: breath in slowly, hold for 10 to 30 seconds, exhale slowly through the nose, repeat two to four times. Done! Result will be that the person taking the pressure will praise you for your perfect blood pressure - every time.
@@brulsmurf Agreed, this is an issue: what really is their BP. Although, whenever I go, I end up sitting in a waiting room with screaming kids, then have a delayed appointment. So I ended up buying my own monitor.
My blood pressure is normally 120/80 or there about. However when I have it taken by medic's it goes sky high. I don't feel anxious, so why does this happen ?

I started doing the breathing exercises when I first found you on utube(not box ,but naturally).I have familial and severe white coat syndrome BP-not a great combination!! I am 78, have a very healthy diet and exercise and I am thin!.At first I had to think about the breathing exercise before doing it or remind myself to do it. now, about 8 months later, I do it without thinking about it throughout the day wherever I am,in the car or whenever I am alone. It is just natural now rather then an 'exercise'.Not only does it help BP but it is also very relaxing. Thank you so much.
So do I. BP normal at home but when going to the MD, it goes up 🥴 So glad to know I’m not the only one in the world this happens to but praying for the whitecoat anxiety to go away🙏
I used to have white coat syndrome... until, I started eating leafy greens...and drinking more water To ounces if body weight divided by 2 Get a steel water bottle Fill it with COOL not ICE water It hydrates better

Doctors say I have the highest sustained blood pressure ever recorded. My normal blood pressure has been around 260/140 for 16 years and once the emergency room couldn't even measure it, they just charted it at 320+/240 and my nose and ears were bleeding. Last year I was taking as many as 16 medications per day but had no change in my blood pressure so I stopped all the meds after 6 months with no change in my B/P. I've tried every type of medication known with no change. My renal arteries have been checked 6 times and are perfect, also my kidney function is perfect. A few years ago I had surgery and was given dilaudid for four day and this is the only time in 16 years that my blood pressure has been normal (120/80). I went to the doctor this week for a checkup and my B/P was so high that they made me sign a release to even leave. I'm 62 years old and I've lost over 50lbs going from 240lbs down to 188lbs this year but it didn't help at all. I also walk 2 miles per day and eat a very healthy low carb diet. My blood pressure was 120/80 my entire life then just went off the chart in less than one week in my 40s. If anyone has any suggestions it would be appreciated.
Cored massage turns out to be very effective for me. In just a minute it can drop BP from 135 systolic to 115. Much faster than just sitting down and relaxing (which often only drops the already quite low pulse). Box breathing usually calms the pulse down for me and serves as a mental focus aid. But that massage is top notch!
116/69 @ 57 yrs old Eat fresh whole veggies/fruit as part of every meal. Also drink over a gallon of water every day. My Negatives are I do eat fast food from time to time and drink that dier mountain dew every day!!! 😮
WOW, that REALLY works like a charm! I was so sceptical and now that I've checked I'm just stunned! (However it really works for a very short time, literally just minutes).
Great video. Thanks. I permanently lowered my high blood pressure down to normal values by simply reducing my coffee intake from 5 cups to 1 cup a day. Breathing in deeply and exhaling slowly (about 10 seconds long) 2 or 3 times works for me as well.
Breathe through your left nostril and exhale through your right nostril for 5 to 10 minutes.Close your right nostril with your finger while breathing in. That is yoga!
@CindiP-nm6mb if it increases while you are doing it it's normal. Do the exercise then wait a few minutes while breathing normally and check bp. Don't check bp and do the exercise at the same time. I've noticed this helped me.
@@val-xo7ud I do not do the exercises and take my blood pressure at the same time! I do the exercises wait a few minutes and then take my blood pressure. I know better than to do them at the same time.
Adam- Thank you! One comment you made but didn't elaborate on may just change my life. You said "breath in through the nose, it stimulates nitric oxide production which helps dilate the blood vessels which thus lowers blood pressure". I've got BP issues I can't figure out. After using ChatGPT to ask if stimulating nitric oxide production is different for mouth breathers, I realize I've got to retrain my breathing habits right away. I've been a mouth breather for decades. Might be a good video for you to do, if you haven't already.

Hi Adam, my blood pressure is always high, but I don’t have diabetes, don’t smoke and eat fruit and vegetables. I don’t exercise at all because I’m in a wheelchair and I can’t walk. Can you recommend me exercises that I can do in my chair to lower my blood pressure. Just to add, I breathe in and out before I have my blood pressure checked as well. But, it doesn’t make a difference to my blood pressure readings. My Urine Test is clear too, so there is nothing wrong there Thank you very much for all of the content. I really appreciate it. Loving the videos. 👍
Your blood pressure is exactly where it needs to be whether it is high or low. Your body is attempting to perfuse all areas of the body and sometimes increasing the pressure is necessary to make that happen. As long as you are stuck on artificially defined number ranges to indicate “health”, you are not a true healer, and don’t have an understanding of how the body works or what it is doing.
Absolute love this. I am a 100% on your wave length. At 60 I’ve been pro science and pro alternative in my career. Truth is it’s a balance and this gentleman gets it. Awesome
@@ooohlaa13 Yes breath in for 4 seconds, holding the breath for 7 seconds, and exhaling for 8 seconds. Its from yoga, full form is get comfy laying down or sitting in a chair, place the tongue on the roof of the mouth, tip touching the front teeth. When you breath in slowly you should notice your stomach rises first called diaphragmatic breathing, Which we do naturally as babies, as we age, we get lazy and chest breath. When you breath through the chest you get tense and only use the upper part of the lungs. So, relax breathe in slowly through the nose to the count of 4 stomach diaphragm lifting first then chest utilizing the whole lung, hold the breath count 7, (you may get light headed first few times) pursing your lips force all the air out chest drops first stomach last, should hear a whooshing for count of 8. Repeat 4 or 5 times, work up to 5 to 15 minutes. This method also lowers heart rate and blood pressure. 😊🙏
@@DIDYOUSEETHAT172 oh thanx have done lots of yoga and various breath but he specifically said with his recommendation of one of them just the chest portion??? I will try them all the 8 exhale feels like a lot and makes me cough thanx for the specifics Blessings.
@@ooohlaa13 Yes the lungs have lobes, the left has two (to make room for the heart) the right has three. Breathing from the diaphragm is the most practiced for relaxation, mediation, blood pressure. Concentrating on the breathing into the upper lobe, 'chest breathing' is to to clear congestion. Good health to you. 😊🙏
Every single person i know that had high blood pressure and then dieted to get their bmi into the normal range also brought their blood pressure into the normal range. Myself included. Most dont want to do the hard yards and end up on pills instead. If you are not overweight and have high blood pressure you need to see a doctor, if not try weight loss before taking meds.
Box breathing was a revelation for me. I don't have anything to read my blood pressure but my pulse dropped by 8 doing box breathing for a few minutes. It also seemed to sharpen my focus. Possibly, I am just looking for more benefits. Thanks for the video.
My blood pressure last time it was checked was 160 over 90. I've had a stroke and have a completely blocked left coradid artery. So I assume my blood pressure will always be high. What say you? NM
I’ve never done something similar anytime my blood pressure is high, especially in another country due to heat exhaustion. My blood pressure is usually 122/78. I feel like yoga always brought me calmness. So it was always something I did over time. Something I learned when I had to do blood tests. At some point I just noticed so if I’m anxious or super hot and someone needs to check it twice. That’s what I do
Thankyou for your advice! I don’t want to go on BP medication so will use this for next 12 weeks before I go back to Dr. (and lower salt, sugar and bad food choices!)
Good video put they so many videos about how to low your blood pressure down ,and you don’t know Which one is good . So for me I just do my regular exercises and eat well . Or depends your body And your age for your blood pressure , so do what is best for you .
A Kaplan-Meier analysis found that the 4-year survival rates for people with normal blood pressure, prehypertension, stage 1 hypertension, and stage 2-3 hypertension were 98.2%, 98.4%, 98.3%, and 97.3%, respectively.
So I tried the Carotid sinus and it did lower my systolic about 10 points to 133. Ok, but not great. Next, I tried the breath-holding technique. This lowered my BP further. But the best is when I drew in deep breaths through my nose and slowly exhaled through my mouth. Dropped it to 114, which I have done in the past. However, this drop is only temporary. Why does a deep breath through the nose and slow exhale through the mouth lower my BP? Is it because I am inhaling more air that produces nitric oxide? if so, is my physiology somehow inhibiting NO when breathing normally?
I am surprised to say that this worked. My whole family has BP issues and it is believed fhat it may be a false signal of low BP and our bodies are compensating by jacking it up. Im under a med review right now and even though medicated my BP was 170/100 this morning. One cycle of neck massage and box breathing brought it down to 154/100 and a second cycle… 134/100. Is it possible that the false signal is somehow related to the carotid nerve?

I’ve done everything suggested to lower BP. Reduced sugar, salt, carbs, taking flaxseed, beetroot, magnesium, D3 with K2, eat lots of green, leafy vegetables, practice breathing as instructed, exercise two hours per day (which includes walking at least 3 miles), and more! My BP stays @ an average 135/80. My BMI is 19 and I have no day-to-day health issues other than tinnitus, which affects my sleep. I do not want to take any meds. What else can I do?
@@AdamJStoryDC I just finished finished watching your video and have incorporated nearly every item into my life for the last year. Personally, I love beets, spinach (cooked & raw), garlic, green tea, but don’t know much about ginger and have not tried fish oil supplements yet. The only other item I can address is stress, but I’m retired and most of the stress I used to have has been eliminated. I’m fully aware of white coat syndrome. I take my blood pressure twice a day at home. However, just thinking about strapping on that cuff gives me stress, so I guess I’m SOL. I’ve tried every relaxation method out there, but my BP stays around the stage one hypertension level. Every now and then I’ll get a normal or just elevated reading and I’m thrilled. But that’s not often enough….
@@AdamJStoryDC Because my doctors consider it to be high. And my Omron BP monitor screams in that red font - Stage 1 Hypertension twice a day. I’m 67 and have seen some other videos by doctors saying that really isn’t that high at my age, so maybe I should ignore the indications that it’s too high? In addition there are times when I can go for two weeks with readings around 110/76…
I lowered my blood pressure from an average of 148/88 to 122/78 all by switching to an all meat diet. And, contrary to what my doctor assumed would happen, my total cholesterol went down. My LDL went from 239 to 200, my triglycerides went from 98 to 81 and my HDL went from 40 to 47. Also, my GERD disappeared, my acid reflux was gone, my blood sugars are now between 70 and 100 instead of 155 to 200 which is what they were before and I lost 47lbs... so far. All meat, no plants, no grains, no sugars... just meat, eggs, heavy cream and fat heavy cheeses.
Another good breathing one is up the hill down the 4 up the slope gentle in belly breath…6 down the slope on gentle out breath through the nose. I have been doing this for 5 minutes twice a day and it is very helpful for anxiety or worry. I had to draw a little ski slope with the 4 on the way up and the 6 on the way down…bc it wasn’t my normal staccato crazy half held breaths….bp came down from 140/ 80 to 115/ 70….i can now tell when I need to do a few reps …its great up the slope…
So that gentle massage is stimulating the vagus nerve which is often compressed around C1 to C3, this is usually ignored in most MRI reviews in my experience, and especially important after a trauma to head/neck area, that’s an excellent point, it can restore the regulation of the parasympathetic nervous system, excellent video.
I may be the only person who became confused when you referred to "the" carotid artery, singular, then demonstrated the massage in black and white on the left side, opposite to the right side you began with. The diagram didn't make it clear (to me) either, that we have carotid arteries on both sides of the neck. Anyway, just a point of clarity. I'm hoping these work for me, and thank you.
I have high BP when measured. One of the issues I have is that I find the device on the arm to be very painful and about 1 in 5 times I have to stop mid-test.
i have high blood pressure without any symptoms even sometimes my blood pressure goes up 180/100 without any symptoms and i don't feel anything is this normal thing and i don't take any medications and what should I do?
Get to a doctor. People avoid doctors out of fear of finding out there is something wrong. Or fear they will be forced to take medication. The doctor will monitor over a period, comparing measurements, then decide if it is chronic, or some other cause. Then if needed will recommend medication. The choice to take it is up to you. Sometimes the best route is minimum meds combined with natural methods, and in time some people even get off meds completely. Always remember though if meds do get involved to consult with your doctor for drug interactions with any supplements or food.
@amm2472 High blood pressure without symptoms is normal. That's why it is called the "silent killer". Certain people have symptoms occasionally, like headaches. Go to a doctor... 180/100 is very high and can have very negative consequences that you won't notice until later.
