Hey My friend I just wanted to say thanks for taking time to go thru this and share with the community. I just purchased the GP66-11uh32 a few weeks ago when it went on sale at New Egg and have been going thru the process of upgrading my ram to 32 gb of 3200 and a 2nd 2tb SSD. I have been cautiously researching and fine tuning to try and achieve the best balance of performance to thermal stability in hopes of giving my laptop it's best chance for a long and happy coexistence together. Your efforts really brought some valuable information and insight to get me that much closer to my achieving this balance. Going to hit that 👍 and give a sub which I don't often do but this has been a great source of specific tech for my machine that I haven't come across on any of the other high profile content creator's yeet. I'm upgrading from the MSI ge73 to the GP76 with a 3070 next week. This is the only video on youtube that I have found that goes into the bios. Its pretty much like the GE73. thanks for doing the video.

Priceless video that really helped with my GP76 i just got. Was able to overclock my Memory in the Bios, but sadly it didn't stick with your settings (guess I lost the Ram Silicon Lottery, but will see how my Cpu and Gpu did with UV/OC tuning shortly), but going a bit up to 18 CL , 20 Trcd/trp, 44 Tras my 2nd try worked fine. Presumably can get even higher, but not exactly an expert on memory tuning so will keep it at that for now and will see how much gain it brings to my stock benchmarks (aida64 memory test had a huge boost w/oc and gear 1).

You can force ultra-performance by doing a gpedit and then putting the GUID: Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> System -> Power Management->Specify a custom active power plan

Hi, I set my gear ratio to 1 but the "Memory bus" doesnt seem to change but latency has reduced by 30 ns. Mine is stuck at 1463 when on gear 1 but 1600 on gear 2 . Have not tuned other timings. Yours shows 3200 . Any ideas?

Do you suggest overclocking or rather undervoltage due to the smaller chassis and thus preventing higher temps while gaming?

Throttlestop should be able to stick your UV/OC tunings when you start up automatically (Task Scheduler needed) since it seems that Intel Xtu isn't sticking them for you @29:35 . But maybe not. Could be some setting you have that is being rejected, hence it defaults back to normal clockspeeds. Might be worth setting everything back to default (memory/clocks etc) and then changing things one by one and seeing what sticks post reboot and what "breaks" things back to default. Could be related to the Balanced vs Ultimate power profile for some reason. Hmm atleast it keeps the All Core overclock regardless though. For me that is the most important thing anyways. Ok i hear what you said @32:10, sounds about right.

How would you compare and rank those 3 different versions? Is the 100% DCI-P3 display better than the RTX 3080 on the 100% sRGB? Hi, I got a Ge76 11800h rtx 3080 and have a question. Is this normal? 8 of the 16 threads are peaking down to 801mhz for a split second and then goes normal. With the 10870h I never had that.

Can I change it to Gear 1 without changing anything else? And would you recommend undervolting for gaming because that's what this laptop would be used for. If you say can yes and I do it in the bios will it stick or will it change since the laptop changes to balance after every reboot. Thanks for you help very informative. Setted gear 1 :) performance +5% also ram 1n or 1t it is faster, i think when u set ram voltage from 1.2v to like 1.3 it is changing but there is no info in system, but when u drop ram timings to like cl 15 then your laptop wont start with 1.2v but give hier voltage and it works fine i guess up to 1.3v without radiators, i wonder if i set the ram multipler to 27x which is 3600mhz will this settings work out for me with latency like c20-22, with furry impact 2666/cl15@3200/cl16 with just 1.25v but it might work 1.2v, did anyone tried 27x133?

Can you confirm the speaker fuzz(when audio is playing) from the right side of the keyboard/speaker? like if you play a youtube video and turn down the sound to 1% in Dgpu mode. Also hybrid mode has color tone changing/transparent windows. Atleast the 4 ge76 i went through had them. I had the 10750h and 10875h models with 3070 and 3080. I only ask cus i know the GP is basicly a GE with a different chassis. Also had issues with 99c within seconds of gaming. and barely dropping below 95c on cpu lol. MSI really has been a letdown and trust me.. i really wanted to like these laptops.

I was with you until about 24:20. Then you lost me. I have a stock gs66 stealth 10sf. I did a system benchmark test from userbenchmark's website and it said everything was great except my RAM which was in the bottom 6th percentile and I should try enabling xmp. Which is what I was trying to do. But I'm just beyond confused now. 😢 Also my bios doesn't have gear 1 or 2 option...

Great video man! I had it bookmarked 2 months ago waiting to get my laptop, and I got it yesterday. Your exact memory values didn't stick for me, each time I change them to your values, then save and exit, it keeps resetting itself to the default profile. The only thing that did stick is the gear ratio. Can you guide me on where to start fiddling with these values or which values that might be the problem? And what to change them to? Since I really have no experience in memory optimization. Also. by any chance, have you missed out on mentioning something in the video that we should change beforehand which make these values stick? As I see in the comments section, others also mentioned that it didn't stick for them either. Thanks in advance.

This CPU is absolutely garbage. I have it and it throttles after even just 1 minute down to 3,4 ghz which cuts the fps down by 1/3. I cant even undervolt this shitty cpu. My laptop with 9750H is faster due to it is able to hold at least 3.8 ghz
