Stack depth in this hand makes this a dicey double barrel. What do you think about the caller's turn jam?
@johnf1772
@johnf1772 6 месяцев назад
I like it...the one unknown here, is hero doesn't know if villain is ahead or behind the exposed all-in. I think at one point there's an assumption that both players beat the all-in...maybe not. It's a different dynamic if both players know they beat MP...then they're both just worrying about the other and playing for the full pot. But if one of the players knows they're behind MP, then they're only playing for the side pot. He may feel inclined to "get what he can" and bluff at the side pot. What if villain has QTss or 65ss and he jams on you? You calling? It's a weird situation...the jam has good fold equity that lets you free roll on the main pot (where you're already ahead)...but a check/small bet gives a worse hand a chance to push you off.

Can you call the floor and have the player who turned his cards over removed had he won the main pot or came back in? If he’s going to play games and ruin the integrity of the game this time then he’ll probably do it again. Do these card rooms keep some type of history of players like this?

I love a jam preflop, but it's funny when once in a while the first limper calls with AQo and you look like a maniac, which is great. You gotta really know Button's tendencies here, but ya it's a lot of small to medium pairs and Ace-Broadways. The way the caller played the hand told a consistent story and gave him the chance to inflate a side pot and take it down later rather than just isolating and taking some of MP's money.
@efg1311
@efg1311 6 месяцев назад
The thing that’s missing from this dialogue is the hero’s table image. I would have liked if Bart asked him about what the caller thought his TI was to the other players, especially the cold caller. To be honest, this looks like a bluff to me if I’m the cold caller and paying attention to the pre flop action. If it looks like the 4-bet to $140 was genuine and actually was simultaneous with the donkey exposing his cards I guess you have to give him some credit for potentially having a big hand. But if it was more deliberate and looked more like the re-raise came in only after the exposed hand then I think a good player probably re-raises the smallish flop C-bet

It seems like on the flop and turn we should look at it as if the side pot and main pot are all just one pot (as long as a K or 5 doesn't come). So we're effectively jamming 320 into a pot of 530 on the turn so the villain is getting just shy of 3 to 1 on a turn call, since he presumably has better than king high if he's thinking about calling the turn
@Nikkithedog-t6b
@Nikkithedog-t6b 6 месяцев назад
So many thoughts. Let's start with the comment about not assuming a preflop move from the villain can really be likely. It's bottom level against Florida players so absolutely nothing about the correct play can be assumed. The hero was simply lucky the button had nothing instead of the number of hands he could have had and called with up to and including 2nd pair or draws. The all in K5 essentially became a splash pot preflop so it's only significant in boosting pot odds.

Exposing a dud of a hand after going all-in and *someone is re-raising* is one of my favorite things to watch. You get a LOT of information about the other players still in the hand and you get to laugh and watch the drama unfold. One of my favorite goofy things to do in live poker to get a good read on the other players.

Bart is genius around the 6 minute mark. To take it one step further, it’s either a call, fold or jam. But a 4-bet for 1/4 of hero’s stack is the worst possible play.
@EllieBanks333

Things worked out great for our hero here. I cannot say I'd ever play it like this though. For me this is just fold or jam with A9 pre. One thing hero had going for him here is that the button is obviously a nitwit. Considering what the hero actually did here makes post-flop weird. I'm not sure I see any choices for hero. What value hand ever checks flop here? One could argue that hero might go for a check-raise with value I suppose. But what hand does BTN bet-fold? What value hand ever checks turn here?
@1vailchris

Bart keeps saying it doesn't change anything, but that just isn't the case. There is a meta that if hero can literally beat K5 and get the side pot villain to fold, he's gonna have 88% equity going into the river for the main pot plus have won the side pot. That definitely adds an element over a standard hand. So respectfully, have to disagree with Bart on that fact.
@JohnSmith-nx7zj
@JohnSmith-nx7zj 6 месяцев назад
Yeah I don’t agree. If the guy’s hand wasn’t exposed it’s totally plausible he could have AA/KK. So if the button was sitting there with KJ he could be way behind on the main pot, and so if hero jams he’s getting a worse price. But since the MP idiot exposed his hand, the button knows if he beats hero’s hand he wins the main pot AND the side pot.

MP purposely shows, incentivising hero to try betting flatter off what he expects is meh hand. Just saying that's why this action should be penalized more severely, in case possible collusion. Again Not this example but consider....

Am I a nit, if I fold to the $70 all day long? First, a crappy ace is a crappy ace, and it's especially crappy 4 ways. Second, any hand with a Broadway card plus a 9, is extra-extra crappy. Take my $14 and enjoy it. I have better ways to make money at poker than 4-betting such an easily dominated ace, suited or not.

If you play poker based only on your hole cards, and don't utilize any of the information available to you, then yes you can fold this "crappy ace." But with the dead money and the info you have in this hand, this is a raise/all-in.
@JohnSmith-nx7zj
@JohnSmith-nx7zj 6 месяцев назад
@@ticenits1926but once someone goes to $70 the benefit of having a “nut drawing hand multi-way” goes way down because the SPR will be so low. If hero, button and UTG all call the $70 the pot is $280 and they’ve got less than $500 behind. Most of the time won’t flop a flush draw and even the times you do, you’ll struggle to put enough pressure on a top pair hand to get them to fold. So basically you’re just trying to hit your flush and then have very little left behind to actually win when you do.
