I bought Day of Defeat just for this video...
Correction and notes:
* Demo 21 seems to be a recreation of Eida's screenshot from the "interloper investigation part 3", when he was thinking that the Umbrella Man was showing up in other games. Interesting.
Thanks for MatthewPherigo for pointing this out.
* Actually there is something notable about data89, after looking bit closer
There's a Dev comment for a G E, talking about why it keeps trying to build mazes. And how the ball at the end isn't the best prize. Also inside the map's description it says "FSKY_SVR_GEN"
* As more then one user pointed out, the odd sound effect could also be for interaction rather then teleporting.
* Upon further viewing of demo 104, maybe it's less aimless wandering and more so that it hit a wall? So maybe it did hit another map, it's just we can't see it.

* There's two odd demos that I didn't include in the video. These two demos only oddities was that the skybox was flashing different colours. Nothing too odd, but just going to leave a note here about it.

2:15 this demo is from the perspective of the uman, in a screenshot Eida showed about "they are showing up in other games too." See the beginning of his interloper investigation part 3. Maybe there are demos for the other screenshots.

Oh, actually that thought never occurred to me, good catch. And you do appear to be right for the most part. After recreating both the view point of demo 21 and of Eida in Gmod, it matches up mostly. The only discrepancy being that with demo 21 the character that we're looking at is facing away from the gate while with Eida's screenshot he's facing towards the gate. Very interesting indeed, thanks for pointing this out.

@@thelastvicar1651it’s very disturbing that the perspective is a recreation of the event, rather then a demo of the game he was in at the time. And that we can see that genuinely it was trying to communicate with eida and not just watching him

This really makes me believe that using the command to pull demos is less so generating them, and moreso "reading" memory. Because if these things happened before, and now we are seeing other POVs, then what does that imply for said entities we are seeing the world from? Remember Eida had access to fsky and the tools they had, so it makes sense to see data involving him in demos of my assumption is correct. It's possible we might get a Type 7 directly from the umbrella men perspective if the type sixes aren't that already.

There's nothing notable about the data map inside of hammer except a game_text that just says "Why does this one keep trying to build mazes? An checkered ball isn't really the best prize? - FOR G.E" and that the map's description / title box says "FSKY_SVR_GEN"

"FSKY_SVR_GEN" - hmmm... FSKY Server Generator? Sounds like FSKY had some kind of map/demo generation system... also "this one" would imply that there's multiple variants? Maybe it's like modern AI, where theres different models that work slightly different?

@@commander3494 i looked at all the tf2 maps, the internal map name is always fsky_svr_gen, official map name usually coming afterwards.

The addition of the gamebanana map is quite interesting, and I think confirms what we understand about Interloper. If all Source games/maps take place within a single space, it stands to reason that community maps are, through some unknown process, also 'incorporated' into the unified Source environment.

I think the dod map that’s custom being included was probably just an error on the creator, there’s not that many maps in dod played a lot but that one is used in the few remaining servers. He probably just thought it was official cause it is the same quality.

I don't agree for two reasons, firstly Anomi has gotta be spending weeks or even months working on these and theres so much detail and source knowledge that I genuinelky doubt that anomi would make a mistake that silly. Second of all custom maps have appeared in other demos, half life 2 had a demo on a map called fear inc that honestly looked like babies first hammer editor level

while I understand he spends a lot of time on the videos, this seems too small of a detail to be anything other than an error, but also, arg devs are known to run with stuff they mess up on, or add it as a real part of the story since people noticed. we'll wait to see if his character himself notices this in the next episode, or if it'll stay a hidden detail. so far the story seems to use new maps only when it is something made by one of the people investigating interloper, or are maps seemingly randomly generated.

@@pingas2467 Half life 2 has a demo that uses the map literally out of Beta HL2. It's not an error, it's a deliberate choice

Maybe in universe they just had the map installed and interlope happened to pull from all downloaded maps and beyond. Like that weirdass custom map with scare inc

Hey, thanks man, I do try when I put my mind into things. And if any more Interloper demos come out or anything simlair to my liking, I it another try. No promises though. As you should've heed the warning of my channel banner. Also hey, there's nothing wrong with going theory goblin. I agree and have the same thoughts that some of these Interloper demos are more shadows of past events being recalled. the odd thing about this demo 2:11 is that the bot is eidamona because in eaidamonas interloper investigation part 3 you can see screenshot from day of defeat and we stand right in the place that was showed by eida

My theory on these "Type 6" demos is that it's the perspective of an umbrella man interloping around.

3:13 I do have a feeling that demos such as these may or may not be from the POV of the umbrella man given the fact we teleport around in a janky manor similar to the way he teleports and moves around. These might be recordings of the umbrella man (presumably) searching maps for any Dynamic NPCS or having captured one, as only one demo starts off and ends with teleporting spontaneously in one location of the map, that being Data88, the player never moves to a new random spot or direction the entire recording, and Data104 is the only demo that represents the capturing process, by the form of a bot being deleted by the player, and then moving out of bounds eternally.

good job on the video, i havent seen anyone cover the dod demos untill now. i thought i was the only one but i guess not. i think data68 is the most interesting out of all the demos. it targets some graves for reasons unknown

I do admit, I did notice that while making this video. But yet again, it seems to focus on things at random. Like in one of the demos, it watches and follows the movement of the waving flag. Now there still could be some significance to what it tries to interact with, but as of now things are really murky with these type 6 demos.

The sound effect is not for teleporting It's for interaction. The pov is trying to mark or delete items, marking for deletion. Like a chemical cleaner erasing anything but the one material that's resistant to it. Like sterilising something from contamination. The maps also have triggers, unused items, out of bounds items. We can't see them but I bet you, these things can, the DMNPCs see hint nodes and move towards the after all. ... What if the AIs/DMNPCs have been deemed "corrupted" ever since fsky was shut down?

I add one addendum to this, a theory. None of these demos are actually happening in the maps or games. It's all happening in the shadow world, which we could only see from RTX What we these from these games is more like... A memory, an imprint, a ghost of what is supposedly happening over the other side, the Fsky side. When the demo is recorded, it's just pulling data from s.interlope. A lot of the time it's not real time. Even type 5s are just a memory of what was. The two times when a "live" interaction happened, RTX became Menu_int, and then again, it became the shadow world. Both were akin to a window and allowed us to witness another side in a sense. We know there's things on the shadow Menu_int that do not exist on the actual games linked to it. I wonder what that world actually IS. just what manner of source mod is powering the DMNPCS, the umbrella men, the csgo type 5 apparition. Just WHAT was Fsky making? And what does Lilico factor into this?

One more: Anomidae (in-ARG) lied and has the SampleTool, but he saw something that has him in a bind, he slip up showing the skybox source mod when he came back. Like he said, the investigation is compromised, but not just because of Fsky/Umbrella Men Sabotage. He is holding back on info he can't parse without making irreparable damage, somehow. What if he saw Lilico in what he found? The site says it was uncomfortable, what if fortytwo and Fsky have a connection? What if Their "Anatomy of a World" is the basis for the Shadow World of Fsky? This is a shot in the dark, but when things are dropped like this, Anomidae is making it really hard not to connect dots, make assumptions. And the dead time between information makes it worse. Haha.

Notice how each time the type 6 encounters an entity it makes the noise. It makes the noise whilst pointing at an entity, not because it teleported. It made the entity identification noise whilst in the middle of the void. It found something

4:58 It is entirely possible they did find something seeing that the model for the hand has stopped moving near the end. We couldn't see it because it came from a generated demo. Compare this to Eida's video, that demo was still being generated. Case in point, the type 5 demos Anomidae generated looked REALLY good upon initial generation, but going back there were some broken bits here and there. **Cough the TF2 type 5 cough**

@@thelastvicar1651 One more thing. You can type 'demoui' in the console and it will open a user interface where you will be able to control the speed of the demos. You can fly around the map by pressing the 'drive' button. 'Driving' around will override the recorded actions from the player so be aware of its jankyness.

It's probably really far too, you can see the single precision floats failing and the viewmodel's geometry bugging out. Why isn't this happening in the int_menu void? Should the int_menu void be a jittery mess too if some of the geometry is far away?

@@piciperkuadrik4636 yeah, very true... it's possible to circumvent floating point precision loss by making the world's coordinate system be centered around the player technically, but i don't think the source engine does that

4:15 i don't think the sound effect indicates teleporting, since in tf2's demo86, the regular heavy spams that sound effect a ton while not teleporting

the new void demo has the demo server change the no clip speed, whihc implies that this was an intentional effortby both the server and the type 6 to get somewhere

I have a theory that the Type 6 Demos are from the perspectives of the Umbrella Men, looking for the dynamic npcs, likely the sound is a delete sound, trying to destroy, or maybe grab something to drag away

You actually missed two important details with these demos. data21 is a near exact match for the position of the entity Eida claimed was stalking him in one of his videos. One of the screenshots he shows is from day of defeat, and it shows him looking at the exact point where the player in the demo is standing. Furthermore, the soldier that the demo player is looking at is standing in pretty much exactly the same spot Eida took the picture from. As for data89, the only thing you missed is that if you open the map in Hammer, there's a comment in there asking why " this one generates mazes?" Several of the generated maps from the Tuesday incident feature similar comments.

Oh yeah, those ones demo 48 and I forgot the other. I notice them along side all the other demos and did think about including them in the video as they're indeed somewhat odd. But aside from the disco skybox there was nothing really too odd about them, still maybe I should included them as they're both the only ones that have the skybox changing color. Actually thinking more, I probably going to add note about them in the video's description.
