There is alot of ageism going around, especially in the West. But if two consenting adults are happy with each other and their situation then it is nobody elses business what they do or who they choose to be with.

Yes. The assumptions are the same everywhere about age difference and countries with lower economic levels. That said, these girls genuinely do seem to be with decent men. As countryside girls, they're able to live a life that suits them and have an adventure in a new country. As long as their husbands are kind, everyone should mind their own business.

Actually it’s the other way around….old Lao men marry young girls solely for the expectation of her to care for him. Hence the significant age gap. My mom and aunties would tell me about it. Consider this…at 81 yrs old, your uncle’s priority isn’t caring for his 18 yr old teenage bride. His main concern is himself: finding a young wife who will serve him and cook for him because that day is coming sooner for him for when he’ll be unable to feed himself and wipe his own @rse. Families are eager to marry off their daughters because they need the dowery. Sadly it is the older men who can afford to give the largest dowry. Fortunately this couple married for love.

I think it's all OK if the older partner is kind and does right by the younger partner. The younger partner is an adult and made the decision for herself. What makes me really upset is when the older, richer partner takes advantage of a good younger partner. There was this Filipina who married a much older foreigner and went to live with him. He was like 50 years older. She took care of him and he was like wheelchair bound or some crap. Then after some years he became either sick or old enough that he wasn't going to live for too long, maybe five years or something. So the bastard shoots her dead then kills himself, like she was some property to which he had a right in the afterlife. I can't believe such selfish evil people exist.

I wouldn’t use the President of France as an example. His wife used to be his teacher when he was underage and started an inappropriate relationship with him while she was married with children. It’s the inappropriate relationship that people and his parents were critical of; not their age gap.

This is not true. In most of the world age gaps are common it's only ridiculed in western countries. If you look at latin america/the middle east/africa and in most of asia you will see that most women marry men that are older than them.

@@londonmoscinskaOh yes, that is true. They did get ridiculed for the age gap, but yes it was the other factors that were people were more critical of rather than the age gap. If it were just the age gap then I don’t think most people would have cared much. My point in mentioning them was people will criticize at first but then they will careless as it is not their life.

That's what every woman thinks, but reality is being pretty is not as special or valuable as a lot of girls think it is. And I don't even think she's that pretty.

Issues can always happen for any couple which has nothing to do with age gaps. I know many couples who are the same age but have a lot of issues while big gap couples are happy. My cousin is 12 years older than his wife but he is the one caring for her and not the other way around.

Funny I know a guy in his early 50's and he gets hit on by 20 somethings all the time. His in good shape and fairly successful but it is amazing how persistent these young women are. My point being its not always the older guys looking for younger women but alot of younger women are chasing after older men.

@@baloo212 You must not travel much or know very few people. In the world I live in 10 years or more age gaps between couples is common.

@@jw841 Earlier it elwas common...now not so much because woman are earning as well. They don't have to settle for older men because of financial constraints. I dont date men more than 3 years older than me. Nor do my friends go for men more that 5 years older than them. The gap in maturity and life experiences is too much.
