Law Enforcement Explains I worked for a large department where the Lt's and Captain's hadn't worked the road or typed a report in 20 plus yrs. And needless to say they did a very poor job at managing the department and morale was horrible.
LT is a good dude. You can tell he’s a great leader. Honesty, integrity, accountability, and doesn’t seem to be the type to micromanage. That and empowering your officers to make decisions will go very far!
I used to be afraid I would come home to my woman fapping to 401's face and have to go to GA and beat his a$$, now I am afraid she will fap to Lt's face.
Officer 401 I admire your professionalism with the Lt. Great advice about being able to respect the rank, ability to still chill all while not being offended when corrected
Speaking of being honest during the hiring board I just went through one. I had a lot stacked against me in my last hiring board. A termination from a previous dept was the biggest one. I went in there and told them about it and told them the truth about why I wanted to be in law enforcement. Simple answer. I love the job. I love helping people and I love being able to make a difference even if it is just one person's life. I start on July 5 at a new dept
I'm not so sure I'd want to. If I'm seeing them both in uniform together, it's usually something very good or very bad. Of course, I don't just hang around police stations for fun.
I retired as a captain (30 yrs) in ‘97 and he’s right about the politics, especially at the city/county level. While I had a good career I did not rocket to the top; it took me 10 yrs to make sergeant. My scariest experience was a 1974 gunfight w/three armed robbery suspects where one officer was shot right in front of me. I’m glad to be retired!
Nice video, I noticed that someone in the comments tried to compare police and military lieutenants.. So I wanted to give my 2-cents.. A Military Lieutenant is much different than a Police Lieutenant (State Trooper, Marshal, Sheriff, Etc.).... I would equate a Police Lieutenant to a Mustang (Enlisted who later earned his officer commission)... All Police Lieutenants have risen through the ranks before being promoted to Lieutenant... this is much different than a brand new commissioned military lieutenant who never worked in the trenches (Typically 22-25 years old). Police Lieutenants are mid-career police managers (professionals) who often have 15-20 years on the job and have usually distinguished themselves in their career.
Lt needs to be chief of your department; he has the compassion, mental agility, knowledge, and training needed to lead a department. This is especially the case in today's society. Additionally, great video 401; I always enjoy your work.
Hey Officer 401, RU-vid isn't giving you any trouble, are they? Donut Operator is getting slammed on pretty hard with demonetization and as of today, even a strike against his channel for a video "breaking community guidelines". Are they doing the same to you? I really hope not.
Im not justifying youtube actions. But it's maybe because 401 mostly do vlogs and interviews while donut shows real policing footage that most of the time includes violence. Which is weird because a lot of other channels that post raw uncensored combat footage/police footage with "for education only" disclaimer are left alone while donut that actually tries to educate us gets a lot of heat.
I’ve spent this hole year running and studying and dieting to hopefully join at the end of the year. It’s been tough staying motivated but these videos always jump me right back into it. Love you man
Not what I was expecting. Was expecting an older maybe middle aged guy that was chill. What I got was Lt.Badass Edit:Got less badass and more middle aged through the video...still Don't wanna cross his path in an alley if he wasn't an officer Edit:Back to badass....I need sleep
Leo, I have been retired for 3 years from k9 trainer and handler and because of your videos I have decided to go back in a couple months to train again! Thank you sooo much for all you do and God bless you all 😇
Good video! Lots of great information. I'm an active duty Marine, and Marines who act as "bosses " rather than leaders are highly frowned upon in the military.
theres a joke here in croatia about the last question. on the last interview before guys get hired as cops after they finish school. first guy comes in. board member: 'we see you had great grades, great physical condition so we will ask you one question. how much is 2+2" guy1: "5" bm: "not really..." g1: "3" bm: "hmmmm" g1: "4" bm: "ok, you are hired, wee need ppl that can adopt to the situation" guy 2 enters in, gets the same question g2: "5" bm: "well... no its not" g2: "yes it is" bm: "no its not" g2: "yes. it. is" bm: "ok you are hired, we need ppl that can keep ground with their opinion" 3rd guy enters, same story... bm: "how much is 2+2?" g3: "4" bm: "welcome aboard captain:
The moment you change your answers they're gonna know you're not sure about your answers lol gee thanks for the invaluable wisdom 401. Love your content keep it coming brother
I like this lieutenant. He seems level-headed and articulate, and I can see why he is in a leadership position. If I'd just seen what he looked like, I would not have taken him as seriously. Which may be unfair of me, but there it is. But when he opens his mouth, he has such clear, intelligent things to say. He doesn't have to flex to command my respect.
BEST VIDEO YET! To the administration of 401’s Department, thank you for the opportunity to hear an honest interview with a representative of the department. Departments across this country should take note and follow this lead. Gentlemen, good job. 🤘🏻
I’ve been binge watching your channel. Love your content!! My mom is hooked on it now too. She loves what you put out because it gives her great insight as to what my fiancé does for work and what I’ll be doing when I make it through the application process. Keep it up!!!
Thank you for explaining, even though I get kinda jarred by shootings in general(re:Toronto Canada for the past several months and last Sunday night😔) I’ve never held one and maybe I will one day just to update my Self-Defense Training again lol but for now I’m not in any shape to be dealing firsthand with the issue anymore than in our precious Toronto. Thank though for providing this info for all other whom need it. 💙Stay Safe.
This video was really educational and very helpful, especially to those interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement! Thank you Officer401 and LT!
I feel that this was probably the most informative video that Officer401 has ever made. Thanks for making it, and I would like to see more videos with superior officers.
Once again it appears that you officer 401, have created a cloistured zone where good people lead by example. I have to tell you that we all should start in our own backyard, as you have done. Your guests, the way you interact with them, etc is fantastic. When I hear these questions presented to your guest, maybe some of these people will become great police officers. You guys are giving them the tools.
Wow literally everybody in the force over there has a sleeve! . Id deff fit in in that aspect😂😂 out here in California its not mandatory i cover my sleeve but they recommend it so I don't get noticed off duty lol.
Duh duh duh Duke boys! Great vid guys! My bro is a cop in Wilmington, y’all remind me of each other, cop for income and the love of the sport but also decent regular dudes that can 95% turn it off and enjoy a cold one.
Im just about the pass medical and then ill be going into the academy. Every time i watch one of your vids i get more and more motivated to be better than i am. Thank you
Question for LT: *Does your sleeve gradually fill in as you progress through the ranks? Or are they standard issue upon graduation from the academy...? 🤔*
personally, between the Alabama/Georgia line, alot of the State Police dont want to be on video other than badgecam and dashcam. not to say they arnt bad people, all the local ones ive seen are fantastics dudes and will accept a snack if you offer them one, maybe thats the secret, a box of honeybuns and a energy drink.
I find it funny you mentioned that officers know that a policy change can come from above, but they resent the one enforcing it. I feel like this should be remembered by every officer because it is a very relatable sentiment for average citizens who believe they are just 'having a good time' or 'doing what they always do' when they suddenly come into contact with police.
love when police talk about owning up for mistakes....they should always include a footnote to the effect of (always make sure you have your union rep with you)
Thank You Officer401 and LT for your service i support you guys 110% Fully i hope in a year i will be able to go to the police academy and hopefully in a couple of years be a deputy sheriff with my local sheriff's office . I Would like to also become friends with you . Again Both of you thank you for your service
Hey officer401 just stopped by to show your channel some love been a long time subscriber love the content that you put out. Also you have inspired me to sign up for the police academy in my home city hopefully I get in and become a awesome officer such as yourself!!!! YOU ROCK MAN
