The memory with Rashid was from the 90s.....it was 1973. 50 years ago. I cannot wait for you guys to watch episode 8!

Magnus had a vast fortune that he acquired from his victims over the centuries. This is the fortune that Lestat inherited, and is why he has a seemingly endless supply of money. His story of how he was made is true. He was made against his will and then left on his own after Magnus decided to destroy himself by jumping into a fire. That's why Lestat has such abandonment issues. It's also why he insisted on getting Louie's consent before turning him.

This is, without doubt, my favourite show. The complexity, the passion, the toxicity, the acting, the scripts, the costumes…. It is all top tier for me. Looking forward to season two in April/May.

Love how Josh says the Rolls is not a Porsche, but " it's an antique". It wasn't an antique at the time. It was a brand new car. The equivalent of buying a new Porsche today or even a new Rolls-Royce today if that's the type of vehicle you're into.

BTW, the flashback with Louis, Daniel and Rashid was in 1973. So Louis and Rashid have essentially been together for almost 50 years until present day (2022). And also if I may say something about these characters that are so dear to me is that they're obviously not perfect. They're not even close to being morally good, they are vampires, monsters. Anne Rice (the creator of the characters and the books) knew the characters were doing unforgivable things, and the characters themselves knew. The fact that they're bad was never in question here. It is a series about learning to understand, if not inherently forgive, people who can't live a moral existence. The show does a really good job at showing the bits of humanity in them, especially in Lestat who is rarely sincere, only to then show him having fun killing people and being a sicko, which makes you doubt yourself in your very real love for him (I can speak for myself with this one). But that's just the thing! The story is asking you to love them for who they are even when they fall outside of what you would rationally forgive. It's not testing whether you understand justice, it's asking if you have mercy and if you can love outcasts who deserve to be outcasts. Anne was very upfront about it to make sure that the question stayed as challenging as it was authentic which I think is so remarkable and what makes the books and this story so captivating and real. And this doesn't just apply to Lestat, it applies to Claudia, Louis and all the new characters you will get to know in the series finale and season 2 as well. Just a kind reminder to not feel guilty if you feel a certain affinity for any of them as they are very likeable as they are terrible terrible people 😅 Thanks so much for reacting and I can't wait for you to watch the last episode!! It's a wild ride 🥲❤️‍🩹

So, Lestat was turned by Magnus in the 16th or 17th century, abandoned, and that would have been a horrible thing to experience being a new vampire. It's no excuse for his behavior towards Louis, but Lestat has serious abandonment issues.

As the cast said in interviews prior to the show being aired, they're ALL monsters, meaning they each have the ability to manipulate, hurt and emotionally abuse each other - and I can't wait to see other perspectives (including Lestat's) and future character arcs that will continue to keep us hooked on spotting the truths and the lies behind their words and actions in the episodes to come! Love everything about this show, especially the acting, script and soundtrack! Glad to hear your thoughts! Hope you enjoyed the finale!

This episode was great in the sense of you get to know a little bit about Lestat and his backstory. Sadly to say his life was tragic and I'm hoping we get to see more of that later in the series. Also, did you know Lestat also has a blind father he is supposedly taking care of during this time (it's in the book). The actress that plays Claudia does a great job in this episode too because you get to see her more as adult than a child since that is what she is now...an adult trapped in a child's body. When Lestat says I'll turn your bones to ash, that was perfect writing (iykyk). Also, the ending when Danny (Daniel) meets Louis in the bar that was suppose to happen during the 70s (in the book), which is why the book was published in 1976. Hoping we get to see more of Daniel's backstory later in the series, especially from book 2.

😏..🗯I think he turned Antoinette after he got back with Louis so she could listen to Louis and Claudia's thoughts... because he couldn't hear them., and probably so he could have a hunting buddy... (Louis never really got into feeding on people, but he tryed to do it to please Lestat.)

It’s wild to me that gays today don’t know these books considering they are what Buffy, Twilight, True Blood, TVD all drew from and was explicitly gay in the 70s/80s/90s and don’t know how huge of an icon Lestat was for gay men in those eras - these books were best sellers and studied in colleges for a reason.

You guys should watch the Queen of the Damned Movie if you haven't already, it's my favorite movie and it really will change your perspective on the character of Lestat, he's a lot different but it is the same character. "I'll turn your bones to dust." The thing is idk the exact timeline for Lestat here, but I think he actually could do that, because He has drank the blood of the Queen of the Damned; Akasha, which made him insanely strong, not all vampires can fly and read everyones' minds, or control everyone the way he can, her blood, the oldest living vampire gives him even stronger abilities and has since around the time he was turned when he drank her blood, which also means everyone he turns is stronger than the average vampire as well. It's the closest you are to the eldest bloodline+ how old you are, I believe Lestat wasn't that old when he met Louis, I wanna say he was around 30 years old by the time he met him, like in normal years, he was turned around 20, which means that he is living a normal lifetime and Interview with the vampire the entire book takes place over around 200 years or more. Because the end of it takes place in present time, and in this tv series seems to go into the future. I think the reason why Louis is the only really smart one in the group of them is because he was in his 30's before he was turned, he had lived and learned and experienced, while Lestat's brain is stuck as a rich self-absorbed 20-year-old and Claudia is a always wanting bratty teenager. While they learn they dont change who their base self is, Claudia learns to be vindictive in a quieter way, while Lestat learned 'manners' but he's still just a spoiled brat who throws a tantrum when he doesn't get what he wants. (while he learns in the book series he really does keep that vibe going for a long time.)

Everything Lestat said about his maker and how he became a vampire is 100% true! So is this abuse at the hands of his father and brothers! Claudia is just as much a psycho as Lestat, yet people make every excuse in the book for her. Hold them all to the same standard. They have all been abusive to each other in different ways.
@NyikoDoris
@NyikoDoris 5 месяцев назад
It’s easier for us to empathize with Claudia because she was turned as a child and any people we see her unrepentantly kill are nobodies and the one we formed some connection with she was devastated by her accidental killing of. Plus, she says what a lot of us are thinking about Lestat to his face. She’s a good extension for the audience and we’ve SEEN her struggles, had her voice over and she’s sort of on a pedestal from Louis’ retelling, THATS why more people sympathize with her even if she is every bit a killer as Lestat. The show makes us doubt Lestat and his stories because LOUIS and Daniel doubt him, Daniel points out the toxicity of Lestat and Louis relationship with a human and 21st century lense while Louis halfheartedly defends Lestat behind “it’s a vamp thing”, we don’t get the centuries of detachment but we can get when Claudia says they’re basically hostages and when Daniel says they’re being abused.

Lestat is messed up, and so is Louis. Both deserve each other. The only sane vampire here is Claudia, but even she has her bad moments. Lestat should've let her go, because the three of them cannot coexist in the same place. I think it's easy to hate Lestat, because we barely know anything about him and his past experience, and because we see things from Louis' perspective only.
