I like to point out that in the scene between Louis and Lestat that is the first time we're meeting Lestat in real time. Up until this point, we've met Lestat as Louis, Armand, and Claudia (via her diaries) remembered him.
Armand turned Daniel when Lou left the house. It’s why Daniel asks him at the end “have you heard from my maker” and Lou comments about Daniel being “burdened out of spite.”
Yeah, if Louis had turned Daniel then their minds would be forever blocked from each other so they couldn't do the "hands free" phone call thing😂 Armand is already very powerful due to his age, but he never made any other vampires. That means Daniel is very VERY strong. I'm so happy for Eric Bogosian as he said he always wanted to play a vampire. 😊
I suspect he might have turned Daniel before Daniel put him on blast. Armand would have been able to read Daniel's mind before he exposed him. But one dispel of my theory is Daniel's eyes when he exposed Armand appeared the same.

@@Ceefore But he is. Through Lestat turning him, Louis has the blood of both Magnus and Akasha (the very first vampire) in his veins. Louis is stronger than probably most of the vampires that were threatening him at the end. And that's not even considering age, Louis is older now and the older you get as a vampire, the stronger you become.
@@Ceefore No, Lestat fed on Akasha years before he ever met Louis. That's what happened in the books and we'll for sure see so in Season 3. The reason Louis SEEMS weak in power is only because he doesn't feed on humans regually. A vampire can surivie only on animal blood, but only by regularly feeding on human blood will they every really be strong. And Louis flat-out said he stopped feeding on humans in the year 2000. If Louis drank more human blood he could be almost on a level of power that Lestat was when they first met by now.

Lestat to me was always happier with the right companion. Nicolas came close. Louis reminded him a little of Nicolas, but his love for Louis was deeper. In the books, Lestat came out to the world not just because he wanted to, but he hoped it would lure Louis back to him. And it worked.
armand really is a little gremlin like him telling the story about his punishment after and all he had to do in penance for "saving louis" only for it to be fake. man is a level 10 gaslighter.

Lestat was prepared to die in the last episode with Louis and Claudia, he owned up to the part he played in their story. I don't think he could have saved Claudia, even if he wanted to. The whole coven really hated Louie but hated Claudia more. I mean, they humiliated her by making her play a little girl, knowing how she would feel about the part. The coven wanted blood, and I think had he saved Claudia, they all would have probably died. Lestat was not strong enough to save them all which is why we were shown him exhausted after making the 30+ men leave the house. It took so much power that blood was coming out of his ears. However, Armand could have saved them all. It's part of why I think Lestat went along with the play. Armand is stronger than Lestat, but like I've said before, Armand is a coward. Louis shouldn't have been able to best him towards the end of this episode, but Armand let's him because he's pathetic. The only thing I'm upset about is Lestat and Louis did not kiss in present day lol
Lestat being wiped out after saving Louis puts him standing on stage swaying in a stupor when they are about to execute Claudia and Madeline in a different perspective. People thought that it may have been the coven controlling him, but it was out of exhaustion. It also explains why he couldn't stop their execution.
@@cullenarthur8879 Lestat rehearsed the play because he planned on dying with them. Claudia and Madeline received their sentence before Louis. Lestat saves Louis afterwards because he only has the strength to save one person. And the most logical person to save in the moment is Louis. Armand is older than him and could have killed him without question if he wasn't such a coward. I definitely think this is why Lestat didn't kill every last one of them, besides the fact that he's still recovering from Louis and Claudia trying to kill him. I don't think they mention him still recovering in the tv show. We see Armand using his power to freeze throughout the series several times and without the amount of effort Lestat uses when he controls people. Lestat even said he had to be willing to die from their fire and he wasn't in the mood. I believe with 100% he was prepared to die that night and didn't expect the turn of events.
I think season 2 surpassed season 1. The writing, the acting, the production, everything. Every single actor was absolutely stellar this season but Jacob and Sam and Eric were just on a whole different level for me. I think y'all will be very pleased with season 3 if they stay close to TVL source material.
When the coven summoned Lestat in the novel, he was in bad shape physically and psychologically. He was in no position to help anyone. He was still recovering from the Mardi Gras attempt on his life. My thought is that, in the series version, the coven likely "patched" him up to make him presentable for the trial. He did not appear under his own volition entirely.
Except the coven didn't "summon" him in the novel. He came to Paris to beg Armand for his powerful ass blood, to help jumpstart his healing. He found out, while he was there that Claudia & Louis were already in the city, and Armand and his coven were already aware of them. All that Armand does to Lestat to force him to be apart of that trial, and "testify" against Claudia will most likely be revealed in the next adaption. Seeing as how it isn't till The Vampire Lestat that you find out, all the extra details, behind Armand and what all he did to them all. And then you don't find out what he REALLY did, to Claudia. And why he really killed her, till The Vampire Armand. So whether that will also be in this next season or not, who knows. But the "coven called Lestat" thing, is only a show thing. Now whether it will hold as the truth, itself, remains to be seen 🤷🏽♀ In the novel as well, there was no "mardi gras" attempt on his life. In the novel he was healing from not one but two attempts on his life. He was in horrible shape, not just psychologically, but physically. Most of your comment is accurate, but those two things are not "from/in the novel" things. Those are adaptions of events, for the show version.
This show is phenomenal! The score, the acting, the cinematography! I agree with you both that it definitely needs more attention. Hopefully, now that Netflix has picked it up, it will get a broader audience. They definitely deserve many awards!
What an amazing season. It’s absolutely tragic that Claudia died. She is an important part of their story. The story isn’t over by a long shot though. When we get to S3 Lestat will be front and center and we’ll get his origin story which is fascinating. We got an Akasha reference and I’m so excited to see who they cast to portray her.Aaliyah is a tough act to follow. Absolutely enjoyed watching this season with y’all. I can’t wait for S3!
Daniel revealing the truth is Everything, I was so scared for Daniel throughout the episode because I knew his Intrepid Reporter Tendencies were going to come out.
The most beautiful part of the final embrace of Lestat and Louis is no one knows what Louis said. The creator of the show ,Rolin, allowed them that moment. Some of it Sam was aware of, the rest Jacob surprised him with, that is why he pulls him so tightly into him. And then Jacob kisses him sweetly on his face and hair. The writers, the directors...nobody but them. And both Jacob and Sam said they will NEVER tell. I love them so much.❤❤ It was a beautiful episode...epic.
If you go back and watch that scene, Lestat started to bleed from his ear. After he seemed dazed and he was swaying a bit. I think though he can mind bend doing that many at one time took his strength and he didn’t have enough left to save Claudia as well.
I hope the series at least makes it to The Vampire Armand he's really pretty tragic and you begin to understand why he is the way he is, he's known nothing his whole human life but trauma and intense grooming and that continued in his vampire life, being used as nothing but an object and discarded, he's desperate for someone to love him and if he has to cage and trap them to do it he will and eliminate any competition to their heart, that's why he did Claudia in on top of screwing Lestat over for rejecting him (I'm not sure why in the series he was willing to let Louis die though). He's a great character and you're gonna love his evolution. But for next year the Vampire Lestat is gonna be the best ride ever its my favorite Vampire Chronicles book.
Yes, to your question regarding the crypt where Louis was imprisoned after the trial. The crypts of all of the "defunct" and "dead" vampires are in the same room/location as the rat boxes. Santiago's maker is in one of the crypt boxes, as is Nicolas.
This show better get recognized, for the love of sweet chocolate Christ!!! I cannot say enough about these fabulously talented actors, all of them! OMG that reunion scene at the end....truly heartbreaking, traumatic, painfully touching.....I was so exhausted, all the tears & I was watching this alone.....ahhhhhhhhh Louis was taking everyone out, like a boss! Calling Santiago Francis, lol awesome! His head was seriously rolling in the deep! That shot of Louis & Armand with the sun beam between them....stunning! Armand, you just keep lying man, so glad Daniel exposed him. Oh Sam, you cute little double agent you! So much for Armand not touching Daniel. Interesting.....I cannot wait for next season!! The 3rd season will follow the 3rd book, The Vampire Lestat. However, the showrunners have taken some liberties which I love!!!
I've been wathcing it back and among the things I've realized is that throughout episode 7 & 8 anytime someone denigrates to Claudia he lashes out or lookes like he's seething. Also, with my rewatch of S1, I've realiazed that any true cruelty we see Lestat express towards Claudia or anytime we see him treat her like less than, it's always through Louis' eyes/perspective. When we got Claudia's narration we never saw that from him. There were even some things he said in S1 that, to me, expressed he was proud of her. I'm not saying Lestat was above reproach or anything because they obviously attempted to murder him for a reason but I just thought it was so interesting and I can't wait for us to get his perspective on the relationship he really had with Claudia. We know from the end of S2 and the books that he loved her, hence this quote “Claudia was my dark child, my love, evil of my evil. Claudia broke my heart.”

An amazing finale for an amazing season! It started strong and kept getting stronger every week! The Louistat reunion, the Loumand breakup, Louis's revenge in general and on Santiago (AKA "Francis") in particular, Paul's picture & Claudia's dress, all things Daniel,Louis putting his haters on blast and the Akasha shout-out! Speaking of Akasha,, as both a way to summon Akasha and to honor the late, great Aaliyah, who played her so well in the film version of "Queen of the Damned," Rock Star Lestat and his band could sing at least one Aaliyah song. Imagine hearing "Try Again," "One In A Million," "4 Page Letter," "We Need A Resolution," "Miss You" or "Rock the Boat" in Sam Reid's voice! Hearts & brains would explode in record time! 🧛🩸💞🗼📗🔥🎸
Louis reached the point where he actually wanted to live so he knew not to go after Armand. He liked to play passive but Armand is 550 year old vampire who can be out in the sun in Dubai. Louis don’t want that smoke 😂🤣

When you remember that Anne Rice is speaking as herself and her husband Stan when she writes Louis and Lestat and that they lost a daughter irl which influenced Anne to write the story in the first place, the scenes take on an extra layer of heartbreak. Two parents mourning the loss of their family and all of the actions that they took while trying to recover gives a scene like this so much meaning. Grief, blame, guilt, helplessness and anger.
Another fair bit of good news in regards to the Immortal Universe is not only are we getting more Mayfair and Interview. But we are finally going to get a spinoff series of the Telemasca themselves. And I think that will be interesting to see.
10s across the board!! This season was amazing!! Loved sexy Rambo Louie going off. Love that Daniel is a vamp and maybe he’ll appear in the Talamasca series. What sent me was the meow to the cat and the Siri pause 😂!! But of course the best scene for me was the reunion of Louie and Lestat. Oh my that was sooo good. The show is so different from the books. I doubt readers could spoil the show. Honestly, I'm still trying to figure out how many more of Louis' memories have been messed with. And what happened to Lestat? And why did Lestat just leave Louis with Armand all those decades? Armand must have been holding something over him. Can't wait for season 3. I really need it now.
Alsooo, and I think this will be very important in S3. If you pay attention to Lestat in the tower when Louis and Armand went to confront him, you never see his right hand, it's always concealed by his body or out of frame. I think this will play into to how Armand manipulated Louis' memory and also show that Lestat was their against his will; which he was in the books.

I have been trying for weeks to find a good reviewer for this show. I've watched so many.... and always ended up bored and shutting it down before I'd watched the whole thing. But here, after the last episode of the season, I found you guys. I LOVE YOUR SHOW!!! Armand did 'have a hunch Daniel would prove fruitful in later times', I know he was gooped and gagged just how right he was. Thanks for the entertaining season of recaps ladies! And now we wait... (hopefully not damn near 2 years again) 😭
What a season, WHAT a series!! I'm glad they wrote it to be a potential series finale JUST in case but I am so happy we are getting more. Dan ruining this 70 year marriage twice and getting vampirism that he didn't even want anymore is comedy. And I will always love Claudia and wish she could be saved but with her written as an extension of Anne's own grief over the daughter that died in childhood she just never can survive in the text either. Everyone did amazingly tho, and I am SUPER pumped to see Louis likely getting back to himself next season and see what exactly Rockstar Lestat will be like next season lol
If you go back to the trial episode (7), you can see that Lestat has bruises on his wrists in some scenes, sometimes he looks like a puppet on a string, or like someone in a trance going through the motions, or not completely "there", so to speak. Even during this episode, Lestat had dark circles and looked pale and sickly when he was saving Louis. Just goes to show, the story is far from over and next season we'll finally get to see Lestat's POV and get to know what the coven was doing to him or what Armand was doing to Louis' memory of Lestat in the trial.
Yes we made it! 🥳 This finale was awesome but still left you wanting more. Like are more vamps going to try to come for Louis, what is going to happen with Daniel and where are Armand and Lestat? Such a great show... they have deviated from the books quite a bit. I know Louis can sense Claudia is dead but I would love for her to come back! When Lestat says " you underestimate Claudia's strength" during the trial/ play. It brings me to when Claudia asked the gentleman in the audience to remove his hat, she then says " thank you now I know all your faces...if there is an afterlife or a way to come back Im going to effing kill you all." In the finale we see Daniel expose Armand and find out it was Lestat that saved LOUIS 😮❤When Daniel asks how many soldiers did Lestat put under his control back in New Orleans makes me wish that Lestat put EVERYONE EVEN THE VAMPS UNDER HIS SPELL AND MAKE THEM BELIEVE THEY SAW CLAUDIA BURN and that she was really alive. Wishful thinking ❤Lestat is very powerful maybe❤ The mention of Akasha Im excited for season 3 I want it now lol.
So, if you are wanting to continue on with the Immortal Universe, guess its time for the bitter sister to this show: Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches. Its a bit rough in terms of quality, but it is a part of this universe and when they get to adapt the seventh, ninth, and tenth book, youll need to understand the Mayfairs. Season two is about to be here and with the other spin-off (Anne Rice's The Talamasca) about to begin filming, this is the best time to get on board. Though also recommending The Articulate Coven podcast for all things Anne Rice related.
Heres the thing. Daniel and Armand are actually supposed to be each others great loves ❤️ 😂😭🤣. Its messy now, but they're supposed to be together 😂 As for Lestat. He did love Claudia. In the books later, her presence haunts him.
From what I’ve heard lestat couldn’t save Claudia was because he was still weak from his first death so the whole I couldn’t prevent it from last episode was not referring to Armand but rather lestat….I won’t be adding any spoilers to this but that’s what happened
I just binged your reactions for both seasons! So entertaining! Do you ladies have plans to watch Mayfair Witches? Season 2 is coming out later this year and these two shows will start to crossover (there are already little hints set up) so now is pretty good timing to jump on board.

AMEN! Louis knowingly came between him and his coven, repeatedly used Armand’s history of being $eggsually victimised against him, and then held a grudge against him for 70yrs. Armand literally saved his life twice - from the crypt and the sun. Louis owes him an apology too
