If your church is true, then research cannot harm it. Please, please read the CES Letter. I love you as a fellow human, but it is my duty as a Christian to let you know that the book of Mormon is absolutely provably false. Go out and research the book of mormon against what the Bible says. The book of mormon teaches an entirely different God and Jesus than what the Bible states authoritatively. I love you, this isn’t meant to insult you, but you are being led astray and it hurts my soul. I’m an ex-member, raised in the church. I know how you feel. Your whole life is centered around this church. To leave the church would be to leave your life, but this isn’t true. It would be starting a whole new life based in the true Jesus Christ of the Bible. It would be setting yourself free from one of the greatest achievements of Satan, the mormon church. The LDS church, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and Scientology are all horrible establishments that are direct enemies of salvation. I pray that God allows you to see. Amen. If you do leave the church, please do your research and explain the theological issues of the church to your family so that some of them might see the truth. Good luck and God bless you to the highest degree. Amen.

In the end the dark skin people are the righteous and light skin people were the unrighteous. That's usually what people are getting at. But it's not taken literally. As everything in the Bible it represents a deeper meaning. I use if sins had a smell to it, what smell would you be. There was a time when the LDS Church opened certain church rights to black people. Now it's open to anyone and everyone. I struggle with why and how they got excluded to begin with. I've been told various things over the years but none of them put my mind at ease. It goes as far to say that they should be put to death during that time. “We will never get a man into space. This earth is man’s sphere and it was never intended that he should get away from it.” - Joseph Fielding Smith In 1892 an article appeared in the “Young Women’s Journal” (an official church magazine) Vol. 3 pp. 263, 264. It’s author, Oliver B. Huntington wrote: “Nearly all the great discoveries of men in the last half century have, in one way or another, either directly or indirectly, contributed to prove Joseph Smith to be a Prophet. As far back as 1837, I know that he said the moon was inhabited by men and women the same as the earth, and that they lived to a greater age than we do - that they lived generally to near the age of one-thousand years. He described the men as averaging near six feet in height and dressing quite uniformly in something near the Quaker style.” Oliver goes on to say, “In my Patriarchal blessing, given by the father of Joseph the Prophet, in Kirtland, 1837, I was told that I would preach the gospel to the inhabitants upon the islands of the sea, and - to the inhabitants of the moon, even the planet you can now behold with your eyes.” Then we have this statement by Brigham Young that he preached over the pulpit as a prophet of God: “Who can tell us of the inhabitants of this little planet that shines of an evening, called the moon? When we view its face, we may see what is termed ‘the man in the moon,’ and what some philosophers declare are the shadows of mountains. But these sayings are very vague, amount to nothing; and when you inquire about the inhabitants of that sphere you find that most learned are as ignorant in regard to them as the most ignorant of their fellows. So, it is with regard to the inhabitants of the sun. Do you think it is inhabited? I rather think it is. Do you think there is life there? No question of it; it was not made in vain.” Mormons will say, well, these are only opinions. But if you read those quotes in full context, you can see they are not just opinions. Brigham and others used it to teach principles of the Mormon gospel. Also, according to Brigham Young in Journal of Discourses, vol. 13 p. 95, he said: “I have never yet preached a sermon and sent it out to the children of men, that they may not call Scripture.” Smith and Young are not prophets. They are idolaters and liars. I pray you do further research in your own beliefs and prophets. There are far more like these Lori. ✝️❤️

Amen.

“Maybe instead of asking why the Blacks had to wait until 1978 to get the priesthood, we should be asking why did the whites and other races have to wait until 1829.” Brad Wilcox, who I'm almost sure she was talking about, said this in a public talk to a congregation. Mormons that are black weren't allowed to get the priesthood or go through their temples, both of which they believe are essential for eternal salvation, until 1978, because Mormon doctrine taught for a long time that black people were cursed by god.
@dejesusrussell
@dejesusrussell 5 месяцев назад
@Mattj93 I would agree with you. I would also include that racism exists whether or not it was intended. I think she was absolutely referring to that quote by Brad Wilcox. I don't believe that he intended it to be hurtful, but it was. He has since apologized, which is something I wish our leaders did more. I also wish both active members and staunch enemies of the Church didn't expect so much of Church leaders. They are imperfect and a product of their times. The Church has a history of racist teachings and I expected nothing less from someone who did not have the lived experiences of Black people. But I also believe that he can grow and change. Recently, a lot of good people seem to be leaving because they aren't given room to disagree. There seems to be this attitude of "Well, they weren't strong enough to stay and the Lord has weeded them out." I hope the Church membership becomes more welcoming to all races, genders, and abilities.
@ladrac198
@ladrac198 5 месяцев назад
@@dejesusrussell sorry not sorry, but I'd expect a bit more than blatant racism from someone that claims to be God's mouthpiece. The church should have been at the very front of the Civil Rights movement, instead of Benson calling it a "communist plot". Christ's church should have been at the forefront of fighting against slavery, and there's no argument that can convince me it's ok or can be brushed aside, because saying they're a product of their time completely negates all the people of that same time that WERE fighting against it. I'd think Jesus' chosen witnesses would be the most loving and accepting of all people, instead of only lifting the priesthood/temple ban when BYU was threatened with losing status.

Everyone on here is talking about Brigham Young and racism and the LDS church not being true due to it. If you look through the Bible and the Book of Mormon you'll see faults in all the prophets, (Exception of Jesus who was more than just a prophet). The LDS church doesn't claim that anyone in their church is perfect. That is pretty obvious, lots of people doing horrible stuff who still attend church. God chooses people to direct His church. Those people make mistakes as well. Look at anything on the topic of race from Brigham Young and you won't find at any moment that he made claims of receiving his views from God through revelation or any other divine means. This was an incorrect view he had which he let influence the church. There was no doctrine that black people could not possess the priesthood, but rather a wrongful practice put into place by an imperfect man. Prior to him black people were receiving the priesthood. Even in the church you need to separate doctrine that was given by revelation and practices directed by the beliefs of those leading.

When a prophet speaks from the pulpit to address the church as a whole, it’s the words of the lord and is treated as scripture. Why else have a prophet? If it turned out to be problematic a couple hundred years later, he was just speaking as a man and it’s not really doctrine. One must wonder what will be “just a man speaking” in the next 200 years.

[Joseph Smith-History 1:17, "Pearl of Great Price"] How could Joseph Smith have seen God the Father in his first vision, if the Bible says that God the Father cannot be seen? (1 Tim. 6:15-16). (Journal of Discourses, vol. 1, p. 50, Young, Brigham, 1801-1877) If Jesus was conceived as a result of a physical union between God and Mary, how was Jesus born of a virgin? (1 Kings 5:13-18 and 2 Nephi 5:15-17 in the second book of the Book of Mormon). How did Nephi with a few men on a new continent build a temple like Solomon’s while Solomon needed 163,300 workmen and seven years to build his temple? (2 Nephi 30:6, prior to the 1981 revision) If the Book of Mormon is true, why do Indians fail to turn white when they become Mormons? The Bible says in Galatians 1:8-9..If any man preach any other gospel…let him be accursed.” Apostle Paul he was even being sarcastic saying…even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel…let him be accursed.” THERES NO OTHER GOSPEL. Jesus says in Matthew 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. Revelation 22:18-19 God will add plagues to those who add to the words of the book of this prophecy, and take away those who take away from it. Ecclesiastes 1:9…there’s no new things under the sun. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7gtSsQiOCow.html John 6:44 [44] No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. Revelation 18:4 [4] And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. Jesus is calling the elect, the ekklesia to the kingdom, Repent and believe the Gospel.

I appreciate the receipts as someone who may be leaving the church, but unfortunately in the LDS church we are taught to rely on how we feel to discern truth from deception. We are taught that negative feelings come from Satan so when someone deconstructs or contradicts what we are told and hold dear we will not listen because it feels icky. The unfortunanteness of this learned behavior is a lot of times the truth when we are in the wrong is very very uncomfortable and icky. The best you can do to help a member see truth is share about the true character of Jesus. For me that's what is making me want to leave the church because "we shall know them by their fruits" and the churches fruits aren't always and rarely are very enticing. Hope this helps ya.

@CyberMan4858A possibly ex member here, haven't decided yet, so the churches behavior is I think two points shy of a cult. Does the group leader have unquestionable authority over the members? Yes Are members discouraged from questioning decisions made by leaders? Yes Is there a significant level of control over aspects of members' personal lives (such as living arrangements, friendships, and dietary choices)?Yes Does the group isolate members from family, friends, and the broader society? Sorta Is leaving the group discouraged, with negative consequences described or implied? Yes Does the group have a polarized us-vs-them mentality, which may include seeing outsiders as lesser or wrong? Sorta Are members expected to devote inordinate amounts of time to group activities and recruiting new members?Yes Does the group use public humiliation or intense emotional manipulation to manage members? Yes Is there a lack of financial transparency regarding how funds are spent by the leadership? Yes Are doubts or dissent within the group handled by attributing these to personal failings or lack of faith? Yes

I'm possibly exmormon haven't decided yet. There are a lot of exmos that are sharing tons of truth but it's naive to say that all of them are liers and all current Mormons only tell the truth. The church has done some horrible things and I think it's time to stop hiding and own it which to some extent they are with the Joseph Smith papers being available. They used to excommunicated people for sharing what the church is now openly sharing. There's a lot of nuance to the situation and your comment was not very Christlike.

I’m not LDS, but these kids will live healthier & longer, with a far better chance of maintaining a nuclear family and building generational wealth. The young pagans pointing & laughing at them will be penniless and alone in a couple decades.
