This month, we’re talking about something that’s often kept silent: intimate partner violence. We’ll look at what intimate partner violence is, the alarming statistics, examine the implications of COVID-19, and identify some warning signs. We will also focus on tools to help someone you believe is experiencing domestic violence and taking action to leave an abusive relationship.

I do not disagree with anything in this video as it all can be true depending on the situation. But, situations where control by one person is probably the least common, but tend to be more severe in nature. But when we look at domestic violence as a whole, the power struggle comes from both sides. Unfortunately, Alcohol plays a much bigger role, and until researchers and government agencies start to take it serious, we will never see any significant improvements. I wrote a book, and would encourage everyone to give it a read. It cost $2.99 and can be found on Amazon. The name is Domestic Violence The Forbidden Truth, Alcohol and Violence by Edward Wallace. I do not think you will regret it, as most people spend more that that on a cup of coffee. The fact is, alcohol is a cause of violence and is much more than just an excuse. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome should put that lie to rest. Thanks for the video, greatly appreciated.

Abusers desire to get in control over someone else is a sign that they don't have control over themselves. They think it's just being in charge when that's a tactic to lessen the abuse - to themselves and others.

I liked this video in many ways, though there are some issues here. The video was balanced; came with no other hidden agenda; accurately described one form of IPV and was well produced. I do realise it is short introductory video. All in all, a positive contribution to this complex discussion and issue. However, IPV comes in different forms other the the power and control perpetrator/victim model. The majority of IPV is mutual due to relationship and personal dysfunction. Instigation of violence is roughly equal between the genders. The factors that correlate most strongly with IPV, though IPV can occur in ANY demographic, are:- Poverty Personality disorders Drugs and alcohol Low education level Unemployment Youth Unmarried Cultural background (& cultural disassociation) Financial distress. In western cultures, the highest rates are among indigenous women, eg in N. America & Australia. The male suicide rate in these communities is also not remotely matched by any other demographic. Policy makers please take note. Thank you for the video.
