For the Si / Ni difference, I can add a quote which is so typical for Si: "You cannot know that because you haven't done it yourself". For Si it is not only that a system is in place, it is also heavily focused on personal experience, overriding secondhand knowledge. But for Ni, secondhand knowledge is as real as personal experience as long as the source is trustworthy (like science) and aligns into a bigger scheme, including personal experiences. For an Si user, that looks like chasing pie in the sky, but as an INTJ we see it as a realistic way to reach our dreams because we know that it is possible, even if we ourselves haven't tried it.

Been told many times how persistent I am in my goals. Whether they are personal or professional. Am I where I want to be currently? No but that doesn't mean I've given up. Like it has been stated in this video, I've changed the pathway I need to take in order to reach my goals. Have had many outside forces (housing market crash, covid, etc) get in my way, but that hasn't stopped me. Have there been "haters" and such telling me that I'm unrealistic, you bet but I keep going after these goals. Its motivating at times as I've seen some people I know who once had goals they wanted to accomplish who have given up on them and picked the stable path of routine. I don't want to end up like that. I don't want to look back and think "if only I tried harder and not give up". I'm not going big like becoming the CEO of massive global corporation, its small goals that will eventually create big ones. I want to get better at this skill of a particular hobby (photography), create a website to promote said hobby, maybe create a RU-vid channel or something similar talking about this hobby, learn how to make it profitable as a complimentary income, and then see where it goes from there.

Never given up from my dreams since I was a little kid, my dream was to make electronics and gadgets and program applications that I could later use to create my own startup and make side money until it can take over, I have a job in electronics and firmware/software engineering in product development which I am using to learn more about product development lifecycle meanwhile on my freetime I am looking into programming different types of applications, I also plan to make video games as an indie dev once I figure out how to grow or subsidize my current lack of artistic skill and animation, I already learned how to program for game development its just the art thats holding me back. I would pivot to what is successful first then use that success to fuel the rest of my goals. Many of my friends even ones that interned at NASA were discouraged heavily and warned me to try and pursue unrelated careers in this job market that is filled with layoffs and over saturation, but I just kept doing what I like and envision and am growing every day.

I can literally relate to this. As a teenager, I always had a fascination with lucid dreaming. Over the course of 12 years I read every book, watched nearly all the RU-vid tutorials and tried pretty much every method with no success. But I never gave up. I finally figured it out on my own, and those 12 years were well worth the struggle. Decades mean nothing if the prize is big enough!

okay Mister Jon INTJ 27 years old the topic you are talking about here I was struggling a lot within the past 4 months and I just can't say anything other than I am very fuking grateful for this you helped me a lot to grow and understand myself better I always wanted an older INTJ to talk about this type of stuff but here I am watching your videos for a year I guess and ever since you have been helping me way too much fun fact: I speak Arabic and English, whenever I want to talk about my emotions I speak English most of the time but right now I want to speak in Arabic because I forgot how to write in English what I want to say is thanks Mister Jon for everything you made me tear up a little bit because I have been through this a lot I was questioning myself way too much that I would self doubt myself a lot and I thought that I had a weak vision and I am talking about pivoting to achieve the end goal or dream I know that my NI is my driver and because of the world that is around (SE) I always felt that I was losing my dreams and visions but in fact, I wasn't I was just having new paths I want to achieve my dreams and that is a true INTJ and I would never ever stop trying to do so but what makes me sad and burn out is that I feel like I am not on the right path and this is because of the external world I thought that was because I didn't have time for myself to do NI but in fact, my brain was very fast to make decisions and it was to achieve my goal I did talk about this with my GF (ENFP) and she couldn't understand this thing anyways thanks again for this

Hi Jon, it’s been a while since I didn’t comment your videos but I never stopped watching your content and to me, this specific video meant a lot to me. Over these years I have been constantly doubting my MBTI and the fact I may be an INTJ but there was no other type I strongly could resonate more than this, thanks to the cognitive functions. What I mean is I have always had certain specific goals to archive but eventually I had to change it and mold it into the actual reality and with a lot of trials and errors learn to prioritise things in my life to get to this point I am right now. I would say is not only the fact INTJ never give up on their dreams, rather never stop dreaming. Because we can always change trajectory for x and y reason, but the core purpose remains the same. In my case I value independence, therefore I am doing whatever I need to be as self sufficient as I can. Hope it makes sense, anyways great job Jon, I am suspect and hoping you are feeling better after your last video where we could only hear your voice, take care!

Loved the video and couldn't agree more. Being able to pivot vs. truly giving up are sometimes very nuanced distinctions depending on who you ask, but for an INTJ who is fully locked in on a dream, it's just a logical step in the process of achieving the dream. This super power also has the secondary effect of helping us to create a deep well of compassion and understanding for others who may come across similar challenges. This is developed partially through dealing with a sense of ambiguous grief if, for example, you had a timeline set for accomplishing a goal, but maybe life circumstances forced that timeline to be pushed back. While we acknowledge, accept and pivot accordingly, there is still a version of our lives we also acknowledge may never be and that we have to "let go of," in the process. Learning to do so in a healthy way builds up a sort of secret tenacity or resolution factor that can help us in are darkest times, and can be that push to say, "Remember when we were ready to call it, and then we tried one more time just for giggles and it worked? What if this is that one more time?"
@justcallmejon22
@justcallmejon22 5 месяцев назад
The secondary effect you mentioned is a great call-out. Healthy INTJs really are some of the most compassionate people because of ability to empathize with the struggle. Most people will never understand all the struggles that we've experienced chasing our dreams, but that's okay, because it'll all be worth it in the end....hopefully 😅

I spent years writing a concept album for a Progressive Rock band I was in. Unfortunately the band split up irreparably before it could come to fruition and the album didn't get made. It pained me to abandon my work, but it wasn't realistic to keep working on it. That was five years ago, and though I still haven't made the album I had imagined, I've nearly completed what I believe is a better one and slowly honed my skills so that, when the time is right, I can eventually return to it and complete it on my own.

It's because of how we filter into our judgement. Thinking will trump feeling when it comes to overall impact because it doesn't factor in the perspective of the individual over the overall effect of the decision. Feeling sees individual people. Thinking sees planets. It's not that feeling has weaker goals. It's that their driving force is better suited for the individual. Different tools get different jobs done. You can use a screwdriver as a hammer, but it's going to be harder on your screwdriver. My wife is an INFJ. She helps me break down situations that don't require a broad solution. And she uses my assertive tendencies to get better results because she knows how intimidating I can be with information. So we are a great combination because we cover each other's deficiencies. I'm introverted but it makes me more selective in conversation when I listen to specific words in a sentence. It makes it pretty easy to tear apart an argument. I also believe in strife is necessary for developing fortitude and resilience to future situations. That mentality makes me accept success and failure without it dragging me down.

You can't give up. You need to try and evaluate and re-assess and adjust but you simply don't walk away. Why would you give up? That doesn't make any sense. Even if it takes years of extra effort then you do it. If you dont, then you dont want it. Nothing is impossible. If there's a will, there's a way. But the details could differ.

Learn about cognitive functions, that's the pillar of what MBTI is built on. Once you understand cognitive functions, everything should be a lot more clear. 12:55 little detail. The first function is less like a human need, and more like a human priority. It is what you care about most, and is your go-to solution to everything. It isn't a human need. I could survive a month using Ne. Would i be functional no, but hey if im sick in bed im also not dead. Thats what not using ne feels like.
