Into the Breach, also known as "Pacific Rim Chess", is the second title from Subset Games. First they made FTL: Faster Than Light, one of the best roguelikes ever made, then said, "let's do it again, but this time, while knocking giant bugs into the concrete. And sometimes into buildings full of people." It's a great game and you should play it!!! AND IM GONNA TELL YOU WHHYYYYYYY

I find it funny that even in the far future, Winter/Ice is still viewed as a "make or break" factor 😂. The irony is that, in our real world scenario, it's what the Russians and Fins relied on the most back during Napoleon's invasion and WW2. And I find it even funnier that you decided to "cheese" the hardest difficulty using a "real world solution" 😂.

My man forgot that shields prevent the cryo canon self freeze so if you run a shield passive pilot you have an instant kill mech from the get go

The cryo launcher mech is also probably the single strongest mech in the game just due to the fact that frozen veks count as still being alive, meaning you get less vek spawns during the encounter

It's not the best but three custom mechs with the judoka weapons make bosses fun and easy as you daisy chain them to opposite ends of the map.

Unironically tried that to beat the all flying mechs achievement. Didnt win after 15 tries, but was really, really fun. I won with 3 jet mechs, but wasnt nearly as intresting as trying to swapmaxx my way into being the savior of at least one universe.

Fun fact: Bugs don't move randomly! They have some complicated math code going on but TL;DR they arrange themselves in a way that allows the Player to prevent any damage to be suffered in a turn: meaning, there is _always_ an ideal turn hidden in there, unless the Player fundamentally screws up. Into the Breach is not a strategy game, it's a puzzle game!

This is false. The devs have clarified that the Vek use a simple scoring system and randomly pick one of the tiles that has the best score. This score is mostly determined by damage potential and which tiles are safest to stand on.

Funny thing about the Frozen Titans is that the Ice Mech's icing mechanic is supposed to balance out how broken its weapon would be otherwise. If you put the pilot Bethany Jones into it however, then the shield she starts every battle with completely prevents her from getting iced, which means you can fire the weapon without any drawbacks whatsoever. This also works with Adam and the Zoltan, though the former requires you to use your reset once to get the shield and the other is difficult to unlock.

Arachnophiles is an instant S Tier? Hm, I'm sure Verac must of have had incredibly well thought out, reasonable thought process behind that, I'm certain of it! Completely unrelated note, but upon replaying all the Xcom games recently, I have definitively answered the question of 'Why would the humans forgive the aliens?' that you posed in your Chimera squad video Imagine, if you will, you return home to your loving partner. This 9 foot tall melding of flesh and goop, a faceless, is your lover. Seeing that you have had a difficult day at work because the fucking mayor blew up or something, your faceless partner immediately shifts their form into that of Virtual RU-vidr Hoshimachi Suisei. On special occasion, they may even shift into fancier forms, like some sort of spider woman perhaps. I feel I need no further explanation of why humanity forgave them all

Thank god we have "time powers" in this game because I think most of hours in the game come from me dreading the fact that Im gonna lose a single point of power and if the vek had a single fraction of that time they would of learned how to swim. Also that cataclysm is an S tier for sure! being able to insta kill anything anywhere as long as you kill one other thing is such a good trade ESPECIALLY one shotting non-flying hive bosses and enemies. (also amazing video glad you covered this gem of game ❤)

Played every squad and got every achievement, and I can say, Flame Behemoths are a personal favorite of mine. Just the idea of setting the entire map on fire and killing the Vek before they really get a chance to act is both hilarious and incredibly satisfying.

Hate to be the 🤓 here but the ice mech is one of the best in the game, if you use one of the two pilots which grant this mech a shield it will no longer freeze your mech when it fires aslong as the shield remains active essentially removing the entire downside of the mech.

the pilot that starts with a shield totally trivializes frozen titans. If you have a shield you are immune to all statuses including freeze, so you can basically use the freezing shot with 0 down side. It goes from being the weakest squad to probably the most OP (just don't hope to get many kills)

I used to play Warthunder, I stopped around the time my crew was apparently killed by a 7.62 coax and I spent several days trying to figure out how a 7.62 could pen my armor at different ranges and angles and the tester kept saying it couldn't.
