INTRO: full video here davemosstuning...
The Yamaha MT-09 is perhaps the most brilliant Japanese sportbike platform ever made. Mr Moss tunes a couple of them at a street event, and then one at a track event.

I use the track settings with the Öhlins suspension on the street for years, couldn't be happier... The factory settings on the non-SP models are EXTREMELY soft.

Dave, could you do a vid on the '21 > mt09 (non sp)?

hi Dave, my bike with matris cartridge got to much free sag(25mm) at the front but correct rider sag(35mm). Do i need a softer spring?

Hi Dave, top notch video as always. I am getting a new MT-09 today and I weight about 90-95kg and I am 185cm tall, what suspension settings would you recommend both front and rear for me? Much appreciated!
@catalystreactionsbw
@catalystreactionsbw 8 месяцев назад
Set front rider sag at 25-30mm with rear at 20-25mm. Set compression at 50% of the total range. Rebbound should stay at factory to start and at around 1000 miles be dialed in. Remember to put a cable tie on the right fork leg to see how much travel you are using.

Is Dave's event calender on the webpage accurate? There's currently nothing on it.

I owned a 2016 model. One of the, if not the! WORST bikes for stock suspension. I replaced everything with K Tech. I threw the old stuff into the recycle bin.

Hello David. I got a 2018 mt09. But I need to change the fork oil because I feel the front is too light at high speeds and wobbles a bit. I'm 178cm and 85kg, would you suggest 15w oil or 20w?
@catalystreactionsbw
@catalystreactionsbw Год назад
Hello Joao. The issue with your bike is that the shock is too soft making the front too light. Make the shock stiffer by 3 notches and slow fork rebound down clockwise in 1/4 turn increments. If you are going to change fork oil, 15w would be the optimal choice to the same volume as stock.
@jotasmaster
@jotasmaster Год назад
@Dave Moss Tuning thank you for your answer! By shock you mean the rear shock right? What's an acceptable rear static sag? And what about the pre load on front forks? Should I increase it too?
@catalystreactionsbw
@catalystreactionsbw Год назад
@@jotasmaster sag is 30-35% of the total range to start. Then adjust sag to acquire optimal travel. This is your first step to learning the how and why, so now adjust sag to get a stable chassis.

@CatalystReactionSBW Hello David. I've replaced the oil with 15w and made the adjustments on rebound and damping. I still get some speed wobbles on acelerating. My rear shock is at level 5 out of 7 (hardest one), and front fork rebound and damping are at 11 out of 14 (hardest one). Would increasing preload help? Or won't make a difference? Should I look at other things like front wheel or bearings? Thanks!

@@jotasmaster Thats just how that bike is.. Mine will do the same.. you need to be super light with your grip and have your suspension dialed in if you want to control it. make sure your tires are aligned and balanced.

You can see the "Fully free video playlist if you want that. The other videos give you an introduction to content that is on the DMT website that is 20-50 minutes long. Too long for YT.
