My mother is in hospital right now from having numerous seizures, they are about to do this test on her while she is sedated! This video helped me better understand what they were doing this for! Very informative! Praying for positive results! 🙏🙏
I'm Epileptic, have been for about 38 years. I have had numerous EEGs. I find that an EEG brings on seizures. During the EEG each of those pulse is reduced just as I am about to have seizure. But the seizures dont just "go away", they are just postponed! Within 12-18 hours the seizures begin. And not just one or two it will continue for about 14 days. I know thats not the case for everyone, as a child my epilepsy wad much milder and EEG did not trigger seuzures. But it certainly does now!
I quite dont understand why people are fussing about the music. Im quite tired educational videos to have a very serious tone with no life in them. Music was treat for my ears and pretty lady there..treat for my eyes..I actually learnt something and enjoyed it all the same.. thanks for making such a good video.
At time frame 2:55, this video mentions four main waves form: Gamma, Beta, Alpha and Theta. Gamma waves usually not dealt in EEG and are in range more than 35 Hz. The author might want to mention Delta wave instead of Gamma.
I really really enjoyed watching this video! It gave me tingles up my spine learning about all the amazing features of the human brain! SO much love to the creator. I also loved the music
Great video! I am working with EEGs at the Haskins Lab at Yale starting monday, so this helped with my understanding. I realized how much research you did when I started hearing phrases from Luck in his 2005 journal and other journals. I also like the music unlike some other people.
Nice video! may I ask about the sotfware that you used? which recommendations would you give to someone who is thinking about assess brain's electrical activity with movement?
I used VideoScribe for the hand drawings and Camtasia to edit the video. For activity with movement, I would look more at skin conductive responses possibly.
Personally, I loved the video. I found it very helpful and very easy to understand. The music was not a distraction at all for me, in fact, I liked it.
I'm currently in a program on my way to becoming a registered EEG tech and we measure each individual electrode designation. We don't mess with the caps anymore.
I got an eeg appointment soon due to me passing out at work last week that left me with a frontal part of my tongue numb. Been suffering from cluster headaches for 15 yrs now and recently been suffering from anxiety attacks. Hope this test help to figure what is going on with this crazy brain of mine.
I had one this past week! Weird yellow cap, with holes covered in grommets. Salt water (I think) injected into the holes, then I was told to close my eyes and I saw magenta lights. Totally wild!
Hey, thanks so much! It was one of the sound tracks that comes with the VideoScribe software. That track is no longer on an updated version of the software though and I don't remember its name.
Hi guys, we've been directed to this video for our Masters of Neuroscience studies. Any chance you can allow the Transcript function so we can reference the video and its text?
Hi thank you for your very informative video, I am a professor of biomedical Engineering in Iran and I would like to use some of your videos in my classes with Persian subtitle and share them in my social media shared with a small group of my students . So I would like to ask for your permission for that . I would definitely mention the source. so would you please grant me the permission . (of course it would be used only for educational purposes)
+kawaiilove999 Hi! Sorry I wasn't able to respond to this before your EEG session. I was in a very busy part of my Ph.D. work. I hope all went well with you. How was your EEG experience? In short, ions (electrically charged atoms) pass into and out of your brain cells (neurons). This ions can cause the brain cells to become more positively or negatively charged inside which sets off an action potential (something like a chain reaction to put it in simple terms). These action potentials are responsible for all of our thoughts, memories, personality, etc, we believe. When the action potential come to the end on one neuron they stimulate other neurons. The EEG is measuring when these new neurons are stimulated--that is, when thousands of them are stimulated at the same time.
Can you suggest a book that would serve as a nice intro to understanding EEG? I am a clinician getting trained in neurofeedback and I'd like to get a better understanding of the mechanisms of eeg. A lot of the articles I've read use terminology that far exceeds my understanding of EEG. I'm hoping you can provide me with a nice primer on the subject in the form of articles that I can find or books. Thanks for the video.
+camellight2010 Sure! My favorite is "An Introduction to the Event-Related Potention Technique" by Seven J. Luck. This is the book I read during my first class on EEG. Good luck!
Another weakness of EEG, besides poor spatial resolution, is that Jello gives out "brain activity" as found in 1974 by Adrian Upton, a pioneer researcher on EEG.
Bloom Institute for Mind, Brain & Education Your video helps me a lot because it is recommended by our professor of marketing research course:) and would you please tell me the name of music at the beginning and in the end?
An EEG is a study record ur brain waves and it dose takes up to/4 days in hospital or take equement for 24/hour/bring to the hospital for doctor to give u results
Hello, My name is Nuno and I start using EGI NET STATION. I have many doubts in the values of amplitude and power that the system measures. Can anyone from your lab help me? Please :) Thanks
Saline to act as an electrolyte. EEG is really never done with a NET. They would normally just glue ( with electrode past) individual electrodes to the head.
+Zzzzz Zzzz You're very welcome! Can't wait to make some more videos for your guys. Right now am a bit busy with full-time researcher job and finishing up my Ph.D.
Personally, I would have used a more mellow beat with a soft melody to really emphasise the points made. Hmmmmm I wonder if she ever got the pencil off her head, scratch scratch, hehehehe, such pleeeeasure, hehehehe.
Haha. About 1% of those doing EEG either clinically or in research would use a saline net like this. Although it is fast, it cannot be recorded for long periods of time like traditional individual electrodes that are simply "glued" on with electrode paste.
Who thinks it would be a good idea to put music in the background of an educational video?! Why don't you replace the images with something unrelated and distracting, too?
Great video, thanks! I'm a personal trainer, and I'm taking one of my clients to an EEG today. I'll be able to explain it to her so she'll understand better. Visit my exercise/beauty/travel channel when you can, pleeeeease!
Neurology is practiced by a medical doctor and deals with treating disorders of the mind. Neuroscience, on the other had, is practiced by research scientist for the purpose of learning more about the mind and brain.
The music is idiotic. Done by somebody who didn't care for the content. They never listened to this video after processing. The info is OK, so I watched anyway trying to follow.
