i run a Tech 21 Mop Top Liverpool, ( and had to come up with something like that ) into my modded 40watt. nice move with the analog clip circuit... that makes it so one could open up the power without worry.
Yes, at low SPL that would be fine even in a guitar cab. It could also be used to drive a bass cab (using the extension speaker out) in which case it'll be just a like a very clean flat response 200W bass head.
I really want to get an uprising 212 to pair with my Kemper, but I can’t make sense of which option to go for after watching these videos. If in thick then so be it, but I feel more bewildered than less informed as a buyer
There will be more videos to explain things further - there are so many options and customisations that it’s not easy to simplify things… However, please just email us and ask for help - at a guess I’d say we have a dialogue about what to buy with over 95% of our customers. It’s not the easiest (and definitely not the most scalable way) to run a business but I do think it’s a key part of why people love Barefaced cab so much - we help make sure they buy the best one for their needs!
It isn't clear, from either the website or this video, how you actually go about getting one of these? Yes, I can see how you can order the Activier itself, but in the comments here you say it can't be retrofitted to an existing AVD cabinet, so I presume you need pick your cabinet, and then add the Activier to the order? If you pick the stereo option, does that mean that 2x and 4x cabinets will be wired for stereo operation, or is there an external speaker out for connection to a second cab for stereo operation?
I agree, it's all quite confusing - it's been a challenging puzzle figuring out how to present something as different as this and allow people to order it whilst working within the limitations of our online shop platform. So questions like this really help! Yes, you add the cab to the cart (and any customisations like speakers, tolex, etc) and also add the Activier. We communicate directly with all our customers via email so if you order an Activier 2 in a 2x cab (we don't sell any 4x cabs) then we'll ask you if you want it wiring in mono or stereo internally. The Activier 1 has one extension speaker out, the Activier 2 has two (one for each power amp channel). Some customers prefer to have the Activier's internal speaker connection left unconnected, then we fit a separate passive speaker input to the cab and provide a jumper cable. That way you can use an AVD cab with Activier as an active cab OR as a passive cab with a different amp. So you might use a valve head with it in the studio but use a preamp/modeller into the Activier for gigging convenience and consistent tone (no bad tube / temperature worries).
Sadly it can't be retrofitted - but with the extension speaker out (and/or second channel on the Activier 2) you can use a cab with Activier to drive a passive AVD. If the OD pedal has the EQ you need then it'll be great into an Activier'd cab.
What benefit does this have over a decent guitar combo? I've gigged recently with a Fender BDR and a Peavey Bandit. Can you explain what the Activier does, that they can't?
@@BarefacedAudio Thanks but just a few bullet points would help. Is it, for instance, considerably lighter than the Fender? More reliable than the Peavey? Able to cover a wider range of sounds? Able to cover the whole venue from just one tiny speaker cabinet? Suitable for electro-acoustics and microphones (simultaneously)? Why would I choose an Activier over another guitar combo, for a gig?
@@1man1guitarletsgo A guitar combo and this product are very different things. This is primarily providing a clean platform for you to use the preamp/modeler of your choice and substituting this in place of the cab block. Gives you sound on stage and allows you to send your modeled tone front of house for the PA or you can mic this cab as well.
@@BarefacedAudio I know, but it was literally the best thing you made, i just wished you could've found a suitable replacement as I bought two BB2's from you not long after you discontinued the FR800...
