@@BassRacerx we should make a video about this! The first three cabs we made all used 15” speakers and it was only once we’d developed the 12XN and 10CR drivers that we discontinued all the 15” bass models because the 12XN models were better for accurate tone and the 10CR better for coloured tone, without the compromise in the lows that people may have associated with smaller drivers vs 15”s. It is a educational/marketing challenge though, and I’m sure we’d sell 15” cabs if we made them - but I’m not sure they’d sound as good as the 10CR and 12XN models.

I love how Alex admits to their cabs being a little confusing because they have so many varieties. It's insane to me, a guitar guy, how different all their cabs sound. I have the Activier Reality and come Monday, my Radical 2x12 will be here. Why two cabs??? And such different cabs?? One is for my quad cortex and one is for my Revv 120. Truly their cabs are game changing when you hear them in the room.

Great demo of all the small cabs! A video idea for you guys..... Demonstrating cab pairings. e.g. how does it sound going from one super compact to two, or as you mentioned, a big baby plus a super mini. As a two10 owner, I'd love to hear what happens if you add a one10 on top. I know you make a three10 now, but I kinda like the idea of a versatile rig with the option to go 1, 2 or 3x10 depending on the situation. It might also be interesting to shootout your three10 with a two10+one10.

But ..... if the pickups of the guitar ONLY react/transmit/function in relation to the strings and have to be electrically powered working .... AND there is no microphone directly focusing the sound, vibration, waves, fluctuations, of the body, neck (should be easy to show, take the electric guitar off the strings, plug the guitar into an amplifier and plug the body of the guitar in different places ...., ) is anything transmitted into the amplifier, only the amplifier? If it doesn't transmit, it doesn't matter the base material to give tension to the strings ......
@BarefacedAudio
@BarefacedAudio 2 дня назад
@@christianhertwig1593 the structure of the guitar resonates and filters and re-emits energy to and from the strings. Sound travels very fast in air and even faster through highe density materials so as soon as you pluck a note the energy is moving in circles around the system, even more quickly than it takes for the sound to get from the speaker to your ear.
@christianhertwig1593
@christianhertwig1593 2 дня назад
@@BarefacedAudio Thank you for answering ...I understood that, but my doubt is about the transmission of sound, wave, vibrations. If I hit a block of any material, it makes a sound. Even concrete has its own sound and depending on the density of the material you can hear the difference. If I hit the body, is it transmitted via the pickups? So my idea is to NOT put strings on a guitar, actively plug it into an amp and hit the body anywhere on the guitar - the guitar WITHOUT strings. Supposedly you can NOT hear anything through the amplifier. And if so ..... There goes my question

@@BarefacedAudio So in short 😎 on an electric guitar you only pick up sound via string vibration. You say in "Tonewood if it matters" ... then as a whole the body, neck, mechanics, metal bridge, produce a set of vibrations, waves, ... then they leave traces on the strings? And that is transmitted and comes out of the amplifier? I'm looking for logic ...... You know - many say that the wood makes the guitar sound better or worse. And that is the basis of the discussion. The sound wood, Tonewood. Now ... extending the doubt. I think I'm going to die without seeing an exact result 😂😂😂😂
@christianhertwig1593
@christianhertwig1593 3 дня назад
The only thing missing is to show this video to the lord of the PRS`s 😂. Unfortunately there is no real scientific study on the structure of electric guitars. Doing a fully clinical study ... there is no one who will invest time and money in that. There are studies on different materials, metals, woods, plastics, etc. but not in questions of JOINTS. A lot is known about how one material acts with another in construction, any construction, and there are studies on how a material transmits or influences fluctuations (waves) to other materials, but not in questions of electric guitars ..... and it is such a big industry ....

Wait, so did these cabinets eliminate the typical beam that comes out right in the center of the front of the speaker somehow? I get that the AVD disperses the sound out in the back and around the room. I’m just not clear on whether that affects the typical beam out front.
@BarefacedAudio
@BarefacedAudio 3 дня назад
If you're out front then you hear the combination of the AVD output and the cone output. And due to precedence effect your brain sums the two, adding the mid and treble clarity from the AVD to the sound from the cone which is lacking in those frequencies off-axis, but it continues thinking the sound it's hearing is solely from the closer (ie sooner) source.

The tonewood argument for electric guitars was debunked a few years ago. Build quality strictly matters for performance and comfort. Wood resonance only matters acoustically (in acoustic guitars and speaker cabinets). Here is a link showing that the components are the important factors of an electric guitar. @@18JR78 this flawed video/experiment was one of the main reasons for these two videos. A well designed speaker cabinet should be aiming for zero wood resonance. Hi, I just want to ask about miking a cab. So how does AVD help in general if your cab get (close) miked on a show anyway? I still don't understand that particular thing. Doesn't the improved spread bleed into other mics (which can be a problem in case the show is being recorded)? Sorry if the question is stupid/has already been answered countless times. Feel free to refer me to somewhere in such case.
@BarefacedAudio
@BarefacedAudio 5 дней назад
Not a stupid question, a very common one! If your cab is loud enough for you to hear it on stage, then the AVD will improve the audibility around the stage, with less reliance on getting the monitor levels right. And any bleed will sound much more like your tone, rather than the boomy version of your sound that you get off-axis from normal guitar cabs, so the bleed is much less problematic - we've heard this from lots of customers and sound engineers, and locally (where there are more Barefaced cabs in use) sound engineers tend to get excited to see a Barefaced guitar cab because it makes their job easier!
@AndrewDeer1
@AndrewDeer1 5 дней назад
@@BarefacedAudio Oh, alright, thank you! About the close miking, my point was more in the sense that if the sound relies on both sides of the speaker, with the back resonator adding in to the sound, won't close miking only amplify the signal coming from the front? In other words, if I close mike the cabinet, will the signal captured by the microphone (without counting in the particular response of the mic ofc) be faithful to the sound the cab actually has in the space?
@BarefacedAudio
@BarefacedAudio 4 дня назад
@@AndrewDeer1 the AVD makes the sound in the room much more like the close miced sound of the cab. As soon as you go off-axis, a normal guitar cab's dispersion is so poor that the miced sound ends up very different to the room sound. It's one of those weird things where guitarists have been living with this issue for so long that they've stopped noticing it!

@@AndrewDeer1 it’s something I’ve definitely talked about lots in videos but maybe not done a video focused on this subject.
