I swear here in 2024, I will start on this quilt and finish it too! 😊. No excuses and even with having cataract surgery in 2024! Keep me honest Donna and root me on😏😏
I'm currently making my second version of the Jagged X pattern. The first was using some jelly rolls; this one I'm making with Christmas yardage. Both are beautiful. I find that I'm not accurate enough with my diagonals, though, and need to trim the finished squares before assembly.
I cannot tell you how delighted I am to have found your channel. You are an excellent teacher and you make me want to take on new projects to practice skills that I am learning from you. I am excited to try doing a mitered border.
This quilt is a "must do" for me! I love it!! And I really love how so many of your patterns are designed with the fewest possible seams to match. The mitered border explanation was really great. Can't wait to see what you come up with next!
I really love your tutorials 🦋 I especially love this pattern. Thank you for teaching me so much. I look forward to putting what you have shown me to fabric one day! I know with your guidance I will be successful. Thank you🤗🦩
Donna, thank you for being so truly talented! Especially, for Sharing your talent with us by creating all of these fabulous quilts for us to make!! You are such a Generous person. Thank you again!!
Thank you Donna. Sewing does have a calming effect for many of us - guess that's one reason we do it. I get the same feeling watching your tutorials. Excellent learning opportunity, yet calming at the same time. Thanks again!
Hi Donna, thanks so much for this brilliant pattern - simple yet complicated looking and an excellent tutorial on mitering the border. Seeing your video pop up made my day. Thanks for keeping things normal for us.
Mitre corners were something I thought id never accomplish. The quilt is gorgeous and the tutorial is great...as usual. I have mastered the mitre but found a 20 yr old ufo that I had hand stitched the mitre to be sure I got it right. I had a happy laugh for knowing why and a reason the person who receives should treasure it more.
I’m making masks for our community right now but after that, I will make this quilt. It’s really cool! Here in Missouri, we are now locked down so this will be a fun distraction. Thanks so much!
Looks so beautiful Donna, m a new machine quilt sewer not experienced like u, I started wf 3 colors n den 6 n 7 colors. But mi way of doing looks hard, so m going to try ur video f ds s ok wf u.
Thank you Donna not only for the quilt patter, which I love, but also showing how to add a mitered border to a quilt. I love how you are always looking to use precuts for patterns and your instructions are incredibly awesome.
Have just found your website and have spent the last couple of hours cutting all my scraps into 21/2 x 3 1/2 inch rectangles to make a scrappy quilt. Thank you so much will certainly follow you in future.
I love to sew another line 1/2 inch from the other sewn line and when I trim I have tiny 1/2 square triangles for a later project.. .Ready to be trimmed to size. (Im working on a 20,000+ piece postage stamp quilt that I will be using these triangles on for better definition. Absolutely zero waste. PS, I'm a huge fan and always look forward to your vids. :)
I was soooo excited to see a new tutorial. These times are trying and you added a bright spot. The quilt is wonderful and you are a joy to watch as usual
OMG Donna, this is one of my faves! Love the colours! Love the pattern! Love your videos! Thanks for all you do. I’ve been in quarantine here for 3 weeks and I was over the moon to see your new video....thank you and hope you are all staying safe!!!
Donna, I get your emails everyday with video information. I was thrilled to see a new one but I still watch all of the others to stay inspired. I am obsessed with the color combination that you used for this quilt, you just see an order coming your way :) Thank you, you are blessed with a talent that you have not hidden.
Just getting back into quilting now in 2022. I started looking around for fabric and patterns and tutorials - and found you and Matt! I have ordered fabrics and patterns - so much variety to choose from! Love all the videos and you really take the mystery out of all the new tools and techniques. Very grateful to have found you and Matt-I'm a big fan!
Hi Donna, I just finished my Jagged X’s quilt top yesterday. I’m making it for my Grandson. I used a jellyroll pack and kind of winged it. I think it came out pretty good, I hope he likes it. Thanks for the great patterns and tutorials, wish I had a longarm machine to finish it up.☺️
I have half of my pieces cut for this beautiful quilt. I ordered my fabric from your store, and even with the pandemic, it got here in 7 days. I am so excited. Your videos for building quilts are just the greatest. Thank you!
Hi, I love your video's, I find them easy to understand and very encouraging,I am wondering how much fabric would I need to do this quilt in a queen size? Kindest regards. Gail McMahon
My sister drove out to California from Washington to teach me to sew and QUILT. She gave me instructions and allo ed me to do the work, like a great teacher. This was the quilt I picked. It came out beautiful and I am now a true quilter. If I didn't have to work, I would be found in my new sewing/quilting room. ♥️
Hi there, I asked the same question but got no answer and found the fabric online. If you type in black, white & red hot by Henry Glass, you will have the opportunity to find this fabric. I could only find it in a 1/2 yard bundle for 125 dollars but it included 21 pieces of the different fabric. I ordered it through Rebsfabstash. I hope this helps. I will not need all of this fabric obviously for one quilt but it was worth the purchase for the men in my life who loves black, red, and gray fabric.
Love your work l wish I could see light you I love the material you just used I much make out a quilt light I forgot the name I will call and get you pattern
Fantastic pattern! I love the red, white, and black. Especially love the unique border. This one goes into my repertoire for sure. Thanks for free patterns -- it makes it possible for those on a budget to put a nice quilt together.
That's a really stunning quilt. Donna, you pointed out an imperfect seam - unfortunately many of mine look like that! But you inspire me to strive for perfection! Please keep these videos coming - we need them now more than ever!
Whew, I was so happy to see you made a new video, meaning you and your family are doing well. Thank you to all the JF staff who work for to keep the videos coming. I am a nurse and your videos give me the reprieve I need on my days off. Thank you Donna for teaching the "why" of what you are doing. I have learned a lot from your videos. Thank you again. Stay healthy
Keep safe lovely lady, i am the mother of an Intensive care nurse here in Scotland and i know how much she is on her dad and my 's mind everytime she goes to work. Isn't it wonderful being able to watch how a piece of fabric change from being just flat to something so beautiful at the end of it. I hope that you find more magic calming things to help keep you able to work your magic. Crafty hugs being sent to you and all that help keep us well
Donna, you are brilliant, generous, patient and kind. Thank you for sharing your free patterns with all of us. I’d love to make an owl pincushion like yours. Cute!
I have been quilting many years and still learn new techniques. Thank you Donna for all your instructions. I just finished the Labyrinth quilt with your tutorial
Ooohhhhhh, I love this pattern! I will be sending a picture to my grandson. He has been wanting a black and red quilt. If he says it is a go, I know what I will be ordering!!! Thanks for sharing another great video. I have to say the mitered corners are scary for me though.
@@donnanorris2939 I agree with you Donna. Although I appreciate her tutorial on the technique, it's wasted on this busy border, hardly noticeable. Best to save mitred corners for a neat border print like a Jinny Beyer fabric. ~Diana K.
I watched this tutorial a couple of times before i finally bought one of your kits. My husband has about banned me from buying fabric because I have so many kits already still to sew up. But this one, I think will be my new favorite! Thanks for making time to do these tutorials and making kits while in this social distancing. I just love your instruction and tips for sewing these quilts! I have learned so much - my late Grandmother would be so proud that i found such a sweet mentor!
Have made this particular pattern at least 4 or 5 times now. I love it. I even lengthened the rectangles to twice their length and made it into a king size quilt as a wedding gift for my son and his wife. I am in the process of making a 6th one and using the left over mini-triangles to make a love notes throw size quilt.
Quarantine chic! I love it. Mine just happen to match. I went by my manicurist and they were open shorter hours but open none the less. Not real comfortable going into those places cuz I'm not sure how they sterilized, if they do.
Love the look of this quilt! You always do a great job on how to easily understand the process! This is also a great quilt for beginners even though it looks complicated but is just a repeat of blocks! Well done!!
I'm confused about the giveaway. When I follow the link and put in my email, it says I'm already on file. Does that mean I'm already registered every time, or do I still need to put in my email every time? I love your videos, and have watched a lot of them multiple times!
Mine says the same thing already entered. So does it mean I am entered for every giveaway. Always put my email every time comes up and says I am already entered
It says you are entered for a specific quilt, the one you are registering for. You will actually see the name of the quilt. I register for every one, every time.
The Chains links is my most favorite so far! I love the colors and the simple design of it. Reminds me of a quilt my great grandmother had sewn many years ago. To me is says " Home is where my heart is". Soft and comfy. Such beautiful quilts you sew and design. Love watching your video's and being inspired. TY for all of them.
Donna absolutely love watching your tutorials! Quilting is my passion but recently got involved with junk journaling so I will use tiny fabric pieces in junk journal ephemera - no waste!!!
Thank you for this, you are a great teacher and you explain things very well. I’ve only seen a couple of videos so far but I’ve already learned heaps! Subscribed and off to watch more! X
Donna you’ve done another awesome quilt pattern as always. Your so talented in making new patterns up . I like that we can use a layer cake or a jelly roll for this pattern. Thank you so much for making this pattern. With everything in the world going on it’s nice to sew to get ones mind in a different spot even if it’s just for an hour. Hoping you , Matt and family are well, and also employees and friends. May this terrible time be over soon. Stay safe
Thank you for an awesome pattern! I watched your RU-vid video, went to my sewing room and whipped up a little runner with the scraps i had still lieing around from making masks. A little memory for later, better days.
I always enjoy your quilting videos. I am left handed and found making a four patch block out of the squares then squaring up the blocks a little easier to line things up. It was a long process but helped to pass the time. This was a fun quilt to make. Thanks so much!
I am so glad I discovered Jordans Fabrics. I love all your utube demos and thank you so much for providing the pattern . You make some beautiful quilts and and you are a super great teacher.
What a gorgeous quilt! Love the colors & pattern. I especially love your excellent teaching style (kudos to your camera person) and your delightful personality. Thank you!
That's a beautiful quilt, love the colors and patterns. I had to laugh, I was thinking... "your blouse even matches, if you run short of fabric, put on a t-shirt and start cutting that blouse!" Thank you for keeping our spirits up during these difficult days!
Great pattern. I used to make a high school 50th reunion quilt for a giveaway. School colors are green gold and white (not my favorite) but the pattern made even these colors shine.
Alrighty! Finally finish this quilt top yesterday! I had blue and white fabrics and used a rich blue in the Border sashing. It turned out lovely! Thanks Donna!
Thank you Donna, I have been trying to figure this pattern out for over a year. I saw a picture of one on Pinterest, but no instructions and it has been driving me crazy. Thank you so very much💞
Your are amazing, Donna! This newest quilt design of yours is stunning. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise with us. I really appreciate the mitered corner teaching you've shown here. It is something I feel that just about anybody can do... just have to be careful and take the time to do it right. Hope you, your family, and staff are doing well, staying healthy and are blessed during these unsure times. Thanks again and God bless!
Hi Donna, I adore this quilt pattern! Thank you for making it available as a freebie, and for your excellent instructions. I am making my second quilt from this pattern and find it to be one of the most fun patterns I have used in my 20 years of quiltmaking.
I love this pattern! Your tutorials are awesome! I have had your pattern for quite a while but it looked a little scary until I watched your video. I loved your method for making the mitred corner! Thank you!!
Great explanation on the mitered corner. I’ve been nervous about trying it, but if I watch your video a few more times, maybe I’ll be ready!! Thanks. Your videos are very helpful!
I love how you did the whole quilt. Love the patchwork border. I'm amazed about the corners. I'll have to watch this one a couple times. Thanks for all you do! Joan Wilson
I emailed Jordan Fabrics regarding not being able to locate this pattern and they responded to me within minutes!! SERIOUSLY FAST! And provided me with a direct link to download this pattern. I was IMPRESSED!! Happy sewing ~
I love this quilt! I think I'll practice on the binding with mitered corners. You make it look so easy! Thank you so much for ALL the patterns you share with us, especially now.
Donna, any chance of getting more of these fabrics cut into a layer cake? I LOVE this with these fabrics! I m one of the people who cannot "match up" my fabrics, does that make sense? I so enjoy how simple you make the instructions. This would be a perfect gift I need to make for a single son of mine. It truly is beautiful!
I have started collecting my fabric scraps (that are too small to save) in a pillowcase. The idea is to fill it up, sew the end shut and take it to an animal shelter to be used as a dog or cat bed.
Love this video, Love your matching blouse. You have a way of making these quilts seem so easy. Thank you for being such a positive influence on quilter's.
Wow Donna, you make this look so easy and it's so beautiful too. Thank you for showing us how to make the mitered corners. I'm going to have to remember this, when I start quilting!
This quilt looks so complex, but your videos always make it look so easy. I love how you use different colors and your patchwork borders really pull it all together in such a fun way! You’ll make a quilter out of me yet!
Donna, that is one GEORGEOUS QUILT !! It is also in the colors my soldier wants for his birthday this month !! Thank you so much for helping me find the perfect design for him.♥️♥️♥️
