Like others, I'm hopeful the magnet issue have been addressed. However, on the technical side, I'm quite curious to know the changes? What's been done to remedy that? I ask with the context of some phrasing issues on the site regarding how they were retained on the gen3, and knowing that the SPM design has been a challenging piece to get reliable at high RPM. Would love to see a teardown and explanation. Maybe even a technical dive. Turn one of your engineers loose and let them nerd out for us :)
Great news for some, but the Photon is the real winner so PLEASE invest more resources into that. It is fantastic product let down by a lack of DIY and local support. Photon can be used by mainstream riders almost legally in many countries, the X1 Pro cannot. Also, PLEASE repackage and get your batteries some decent certification. Battery safety is becoming an real concern so non UL certified batteries are not going to be permitted to be used in many places.
We'll release more news on the Photon that has already received some updates in the latest shipments. Since the latest Photon batch has already received updates, we've decided to finalise the X1 Pro Gen 4 as we've already been working on the X12 for a long time. UL certification for batteries has indeed been growing as a requirement across the globe. We are working on it :)
@cycmotor thank you, looking forward to more information. My Photon is going well and I absolutely love it. On the battery, I was gutted to find there was no certification at all for the pack itself, the certification quoted is applicable to the cells themselves. I personally have no reservations about the safety of the battery, but that won't work when public facilities won't allow uncertified batteries.

When they start shipping?... my battery already arrived, still waiting for the motor :( since December, was told it'd come in January, it's already mid-January.
I can’t wait to post some videos reviewing this setup i think this product will do very well in the Australian market im very excited to get my gen 4❤❤❤❤❤
All this hype for a new motor and it’s not even IPM (I assume). Also it’s rated for 5kw just like the previous one. Maybe it will actually do 5kw now without destroying itself? 🤷🏻♂️
Internal Permanent Magnet. Its a specific rotor design that most brushless motors are using (like Tesla and the new Talaria) that incorporates the magnets inside the rotor so they have no chance of flying out and causing cartographic motor damage like their current motor design. @@IronX77
IPM means Internal Permanent Magnet. That just means the magnets are inside the motor. I've been using the gen2 pro motor for around a year at 5-7 Kw without any issues
Hi there, we've specifically addressed this issue with the new Gen 4 motor. The main reason for pairing the X12 with a longer motor is specifically for better durability mainly through better heat dissipation adding less strain to the magnets.
The main reason for pairing the X12 with a longer motor is specifically for better durability mainly through better heat dissipation adding less strain to the magnets. this tells the average person absolutely nothing, firstly what is the "X12" i assume it's the controller, and "longer motor" does this mean the motor housing the magnets is now wider, yet slimmer than the original yet retaining the same surface area for magnets, instead why don't you concentrate on making a super reliable 30 mph motor at an affordable price, complete with a smallish lightweight battery and these would sell like hotcakes.
We have no current plans for making a Gen 4 Stealth version but all Gen 3 Stealths are already shipping with the Gen 4 torque sensor by default. We are also releasing new battery options in 2024.
Not entirely. We'll be addressing all these questions in the CYC Owners Group on Facebook this week. Join here if you're interested: facebook.com/groups/407576456456280
The installation method is the same as the Gen 3 version: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oERIs5JuxEc.htmlsi=Ixi5cVsdE-ERAY7Y We will be making a Gen 4 installation in the future :)
Yes, our batteries are compatible (select the 40T cell options for the B-series). However, if you would like to be able to experience the full power capabilities of the system, then you would need a 72V 80A pack and purchase it from a local supplier. Our kits are open system so as long as you have an XT90 adaptor for the pack, it will work.
this is just a cute bbshd, but one that breaks chains. with this much power you should have just also designed a custom sleeve and thicker gear for the shimano style/screw on style rear cassette. your product would have been 10 times more appealing than it is. people should just stick to bbshd's with 60v true 50a controllers.
Hi there, all X1 Pro and Stealth parts are available at our online store and distributors. If you struggle to find anything, please feel free to contact support@cycmotor.com. We're happy to supply any parts needed.
its on the site, 25% longer motor, X12 controller that can do 2x as much power as the X6 on the Gen 3, but it's still only a 5000W rated motor they claim it should have better thermal protection and have up to 280Nm crank torque (still the same, so it just seems to be a perhaps more durable motor and better controller)
@@BH4x0r lol, sounds to me this is the exact same stats, except now the motor is supposed to actually work well. I guess that's why they didn't show the stats in this trailer, that'd be embarrassing to present what we're already familiar with as "new"
@@noone-ld7pt no cause throttle is boring, but i meant that more as-in it's the 4th gen with the same power and torque number.. it would be cool if it could take what the controller can handle (8kW) i don't see a big reason why anyone with an earlier gen should upgrade (apart from the motors breaking on the older ones), but i feel like they could make a better rotor for the older gens instead of an entire new product
You can check the main specs at www.cycmotor.com/x1-pro-gen-4 We've made it a NEW gen for a few different reasons but the most important upgrades pertain to durability and performance.
There are a lot of improvements done to get the Gen 4 where the previous Gen issues were addressed. You can look forward to orders opening in mid Jan. We'll release the official date soon :)
Hi Tim, yeah that's not great and we're truly sorry for that! We've been strategising with key partners and with our internal management to streamline RMA. Sadly, these improvements take some time to implement but rest assured that they are being addressed.
