my Ride app is missing setting to set motor type, battery and wheel size, are there differing software versions? just got a new X6 controller for my Pro 1 Gen 2. Also want to have throttle always at 100% at PAS 1-5 how do I set that, seems I missing something else with this app? 3 Throttle power settings what differs Low, Mid, High, there is no explanation out there, including Throttle Torque including Pedal Assist Power & Torque settings has 3 settings what makes them differ, how do I set them, your instructions are lacking in app's user guide.
It would be awesome if it could be possible to limit the throttle in Street mode to walk asssit only and then full throttle control when switching to race mode on private roads/trails or coutries with different laws!
Looking forward to the X1 gen 4 upgrade... currently using 6s 100c lipo for a "72v" pack.. modular and scalable, the lipo pack I use can be as small as 4lb, and still easily provide 200A cont. to the controller. For large displacement, I simply add packs, so in the largest configuration I mount additional packs to the down tube and triangle pack, for a total of 12pc 6s 5200mAh, in 18s series connection ( 3p 18s lipo ) ... this battery eliminates the battery management system, and allows me to charge each 6s battery with its own balance charger, increasing the charge rate substantially, while allowing a stable and precise charge. Having a single battery, or even two similar packs... or even having to spend many hundreds or more to buy a high output battery... nah.. you can just use 3pcs 6s lipo and series cable to create a light weight, modular, scalable battery for $350 ( 3p 6s 5200mAh 100c + 2pccs series adapter) ... buy a decent high rate charger system, and you are away
Can we have the option to engage throttle even if we do not have motor assist on at any level ? This can help when face a hurdle but your motor assist is not engaged, a simple push on throttle will get you through ... and then you are back to normal human power pedalling
I am a BBSHD owner and I am looking to upgrade to a new bike with a CYC X1 Pro Gen 4. How many PAS settings can you have? So far I am only seeing 3 options but I would really like to have 5 if that is possible. Thanks!
This has probably been asked by someone before, but it'd be awesome if the throttle/PAS top speeds could be configured separately within the same profile. For example, in my street profile I completely switch the throttle off to force myself into pedal assist, but it'd be nice to be able to use the throttle up to a certain speed to set off. Or another example is limiting the throttle to suit local regulations in the street profile. Something else I'd like to ask about is what the throttle pinout is, I've been searching for a lever style thumb throttle that's compatible with the CYC, but both ones I've tried aren't registered by the kit, please could you advise on the pinout for the throttle. Thanks
you would sell ten times as much of these kits if you offered some sort of finance option (for a reasonable 10% extra price) you would also make more profit, not everyone has $1000+ to spend outright
Great video. At some points the sound effects covered the explanation so I had to listen three times to get the info. Would be VERY helpful to have a transcript of the explanation so I can read it at my own speed. Good video - helps me a lot to programme my Photon, mounted on a long tail cargo bike.
Excellent video! Please provide a discussion regarding how torque is defined for the three available assist levels for throttle and peddle assist. As the user can define the maximum wattage provided for each assist level and torque is set as a percentage, how does that relate to torque in Newton-Meters. Sample question: If the motor is set to 6kw and that relates to 250Nm of torque if set to 100%, then setting torque to 50% would mean that a maximum of 125Nm would be available. Is that how it works? If not, how does it work?
Doing some research would indicate that motor torque is more related to phase current at a given power/load/gearing (bike climbing ability). Whereas, phase voltage at the same power/load/gearing relates more to maximum motor RPM (bike speed). So, what does the torque setting in the app actually do to control available torque and how is it quantified?
Only the cool kids with dropper posts. On 1x bikes the throttle won't easily fit beside the shifter and brake; and on the left side the throttle fits but is hard to avoid mistakenly hitting when using the dropper.
Having more than two (street / race) profiles switchable from the app would be desireable. Including the ability to enable/disable throttle & peddle assist independently for each profile would also be useful. Thanks for the excellent video.
So what happens if there 2-3mm gap between the lock ring and the bb. Everything is in as tight as can be used up all my shims to fit the bb cup so I can’t shim after the motor bracket. Is this gap going to cause issues
Love your mid drive. Heard a lot on the net. Thinking of buying one for my bike. Some major points: Weight is a big issue. A bag of rice weighs 8Kg. The X1 Pro Gen 4 weighs one kilogram more than a sack of rice at Loblaws. Issue number two are the exposed control cables. What type of bike? I'm thinking this mid drive would be great for a fat MTB. If you add a 72V 1000 watt molicel battery that would be an additional 8 to 9 Kg for a grand total of 18Kg. A MTB is typically 13 to 14Kg. Let's round that out for a total of approximately 30Kg which is the weight of a teenager. Could you peddle this bike back with all the bells and whistles added? No? I'm thinking buy a Sur-Ron. How much does a Sur-Ron street legal Ultra Bee weight? 85Kg I can't peddle my MTB after I modified it with the mid drive plus the battery. Too heavy. I can't peddle the Sur Ron either but that's a moot point since my beautiful eMTB is too heavy to peddle. I'd have to be Lou Ferigno or Arnold the Governator to peddle that beast of an eMTB with the CYC plus battery. Knowing all this should Peter waste his time with the CYC 5000W mid drive? Or just save up for a SurRon street legal Ultra Bee. I recently saw Anne Hathaway at the No Frills. Didn't know if it was her. Was I hallucinating. Twenty minutes later after I was walking home with my groceries I thought Yeah that was Anne Hathaway. Same thing with Emily Blunt several years ago. I thought out loud THERE'S NO WAY THAT IS EMILY BLUNT! As soon as I blurted the words her face became crimson red as she fled for the door of the TTC subway train at Eglinton West station. . A lot of movie stars are here for the Toronto International Film Festival. Big Colossal success? Too early to say. Richard Gere is also in town.
Internally routed control cables. Riese Muller, and German bikes. Steve Jobs and Apple Corporation. It's always about the end user. Steve Jobs and German engineering. They get it right. IF I CUT YOUR CONTROL CABLES BECAUSE ONY GERMAN BIKES HAVE INTERNALLY ROUTED CONTROL CABLES MY $5000 DOLLAR BIKE IS NOW A BRICK. I PREFER GERMAN BIKES (The German made bikes have internally routed cables that can't be cut with a garden shear One good example is Riese Muller.) Sorry, there are caveats. NOT ALL GERMAN BIKES ARE VANDAL PROOF However Riese Muller is as vandal proof as you can design an e-bike. All other e-bike companies design e-bikes with the control cables exposed. Crazy engineering
Too small hence too hot and not the same longevity as a BBSHD and not serviceable by user. So it is not for people depending on reliability for commuting
how do you become a mechanic fixing these motors? I have a photon that has problems and i would like to take it apart and fix it myself. How do you get all the spare parts? In London, there appears to be no service centre or shop able to repair them.
We have a few service centres in the UK. The Cycle MOT is in London and will be able to help you. However., you can reach out to us as well. We will be happy to help you with the tools and parts needed to do it yourself.
I have a sugestion. i am a bosch ebike owner, i realy like my bike, but i think i'll love it forever with a Cyc motor instead of bosh. So why do you dont tink about at a conversion kit not just for non electric bikes, a conversion kit to convert from a bosch motor to a cyc motor... P.S.: I have 7 or 8 bosch ebikes who want a cyc motor and i am not joking...
