Much appreciated video just got into Empire: Total War and had no idea how to start out in the campaign as Britain, I have played Civilization V so i am familiar with buildings types giving bonuses, but Empire: Total War seems more strategic especially with real time battle. Thanks for the video its helped me alot with starting out

First ... Great Video! Still a great game even now with all its flaws (Just bought it for 6 bucks)... better with all the mods (DarthMod the best). For me the best in the series (I got TWR2 w/DEI and still cant warm up to it), I wish they gave it more love or maybe develop a "remastered" version of the game. WarHammer too weird, Napoleonic's too narrow history , not sure of shogun, that one may be interesting. I like playing Poland in Long campaign mode because if you can survive the first decade or two, you can start building a fleet and appreciate it because you earned it. Oh and you missed a few things ... @ 13:08 You can swap (click and drag) your ministers around so give the lower star ones to the army and navy in the beginning (swap Justice for Treasury). Also @24:30 Use your missionaries to boost you own provinces that are not completely aligned to the state religion (that have high percentage of non state), it will make them happier if they have conflict with religion. @ 26:15 they can steal tech or kill agents stealing their tech. 30:40 forgot to mention that the buildings, armies/navies tie in with the research so chose them all wisely and with purpose for their combined effects (example two specific researches are needed to get those cannons moving on the battlefield but also you need the proper building to produce them).

For whatever reason, when I launch a grand campaign, my entire ETW crashes. Any help on this?

tried darth mod damn the armies just dont freaking break like vanilla and the sounds my god the sounds of battle. in vanilla just hit them a few times with cannon and they run for the hill even on the lowest difficulty i had to rotate troops to stop a mass rout and cannons fucking brutal luckily some light cav soon sorted them french cannons out

I just won in the World Domination mode, as the United States, in the hardest mode (very hard). And I gotta tell ya, it was very hard. I'm here to learn some tips for my next campaigns. I've only won (in World Domination) as Sweden and the U.S. It was so hard with Sweden. Really fun.

RangerDave :: Is that how the whole Building goes, just click on the building you want to build???? or is it like in Medieval Kingdom Wars where you actually Erect the building. And after its finished, you hover over it and gives you all these Tabs options. On all that the building offers that's just overwhelming for a beginner. I ask cuz in all the TW video Tutorials i saw, I have never seen no one actually sit there and click on a building and Drag it to an area they want the Building to go and start the building.

I think the major nations should be more like the way paradox does it: a set number of the most powerful nations at the time. That way say France gets destroyed to complete irrelevancy, theyre no longer a major nation and someone else takes their place.

Saw this and instantly thought back to my last game as U.S.A I didn't even have anything to do with it but Portugal had actually become a protectorate of the Iroquois ROTFL only for two years though before getting annexed by Spain proper lol ;)

+Ragnar Loki You can only exempt taxes for various capital cities. Actual tax control is only available by theatre. IE. you can have one tax rate for Europe and a different one for N. America.

I only have vanilla. Not sure how to get darth mod without getting some random malware so dont play much. Feels like they half-assed the vanilla campaign and so the experience is lacking. Not to mention diplomacy is asstastic and I really wish they had some inspiring general's speeches. I want to play as Savoy so badly! UGH!

As much as I adore Empire, I must agree that vanilla is awful without Darthmod. The uniforms and Ai hurt my brain. Still, It's a fantastic game that's a must buy. Now, In regards to your fear of Darthmod. Don't worry, if you follow the instructions on install, you won't get any malware or anything scary.
