@@juggernot92 It isn’t just them fighting for their lives. It’s the emotional toil it puts on them. Like Darkwing’s body being flung at Green ghost, or the fish’s head being splattered on the ground..
@@italianhockeywall that's the other thing this show does that no other super hero show or marvel movie can do. That's put fear in my hart, never have I ever feared for superman's safety. Even when he loses and even "dies" I know ultimately he's gonna be OK. This show shattered that illusion in five minutes, and I loved it. Because without real brutal stakes there can't be real heroism.
@@Spongebrain97 'Nihilistic' is completely the wrong word for Invincible. It is, at all times, a hopeful show, and one that believes in and cares for its characters (despite the brutal things it puts them through). "Nihilism" much more appropriately describes Kirkman's other major comics work.
@@Melancthon7332 nah I'd say Nihilistic because of the hardcore bloodshed especially with civilian deaths. Invincible strives to be hopeful in his harsh world which is unapologetic when it comes to the dangers of crime fighting
@@Spongebrain97 My friend, that is not what 'nihilism' means. "Nihilism: the rejection of all religious and moral principles, in the belief that life is meaningless. Nihilism is a philosophy...expressing negation towards general aspects of life that are widely accepted within humanity..such as knowledge, existence, and the meaning of life. Nihilist positions hold variously that human values are baseless, that life is meaningless, that knowledge is impossible, or that [God or gods] do not exist, are meaningless, or pointless."
When I first saw this episode I thought “Hey this is actually a pretty good superhero show, I would even show this to my 10 year old niece.” Then the last 5 minutes show up and this show winds up with the most shocking final scene of any pilot episode of a TV show in history, even the first episode of Game Of Thrones. Kat, Sonny, you have NOOOOOO idea what you’re in for.
Lol too many people don’t read the Ratings for shows and movies 😂 I guess I can’t blame them. The 18+ it’s kinda easy to miss if you just click okay without bothering to look for it.
Steven Yeun was also in Legend of Korra, he was the voice of Wan! So that's three voice actors with Avatar/LoK ties (Steven Yeun, J K Simmons, Mark Hamill)
Steven Yeun is an incredible voice actor tbh, especially here. He brings so much emotion to Mark's character, adding more as the season goes on. He legit broke my heart in ep. 8.
This show really made it clear to me that we're living in a really great moment for entertainment. So many great shows and comic book shows in general are beginning to branch out and become more varied. Its a good time to be a fan of TV and film.
Hey, if Kat needs to sit this one out it will be fine, I think we'd all still love to see Sonny's reaction, especially if it helps Kat feel better. I don't think she should have to sit through this if she honestly doesn't want to.
Poor Kat 🥺❤️ But yeah, that’s “Invincible”. Honestly one of the most brutal and graphic comic series I have ever read. It has such amazing and complex characters and takes the superhero genre down both a grim and brutally realistic path. It does what Marvel and DC won’t really pull off.
@@Moongaze_ There is another reaction channel that reminds me of Kat & Sonny. They resemble un-showered hippie sorts, nothing wrong with that but they look rather unkempt and greasy, with reactions that mimic what you would expect. I remember clicking on their thumbnail thinking it was this channel as I am not subbed and only see these occasionally. For @werdle92 I hope that is the reason this comment was made. I really hope.
I cannot put into words how excited I am to watch this week you guys. Kat's right, they put good effort into a diverse cast (including the voice actors) throughout the show and they do it very seamlessly, it feels very natural and the characters all have good depth.
I’m really glad you guys finally got to react to this. It’s such a good show. There are parts I think Kat will struggle with but honestly it’s worth the ride. This is why I told you guys that I love this show/comic!
I love your reactions because of how your reactions compliment each other. Kat is super sensitive and Sonny is a bit more balanced. I love this show. Entertainment wise, it has easily been one of this year's highlights for me.
I really enjoyed the show, super excited for you guys to watch this!!!! Haven't seen any of the other shows you are doing right now so I'm glad I can look forward to these from now on!
Invincible and Attack on titan seem like the worst possible recommendatios for someone not comfortable with gore. I hope you guys fair ok though theses series. You guys deserve maybe one sitcom balancing things out lolol. Good luck
@@mikados0173 AOT is not that gory, but is way more violent and cruel, Invincible somethimes feel like is trying so hard to be gory and edgy, SNK is more "Realistic" in the violence, it makes it harder to watch.
Kat reminds me how jaded I have become after years of ultraviolent content. That haunted look gives me pause, @kat take care of yourself, if it is too much bounce, because iirc it gets crazier and if anything more painful to watch as we become more familiar with the characters.
Between movies series and videogames yes, we are too desentitized violence sometimes, i know a lot of people think like a cool thing but it needs to be balances, i like invincible a lot but cause its not the norm and brings variety yo the genre, but i dont want every superhero Flick flooded with gore just for that, the same with the boys
26:20 I liked that they went against some of the common tropes. The guy who was talking about his plans for a vacation didn’t immediately get killed. When Mark closed his eyes and stepped off the roof, it actually worked. This show was definitely unexpected
@@walterdayrit675 That depends. On the country, tattoo shop and the artist. This one cost 4000kr (~$650), but they might be much more expensive... the other tat on my left arm was 7000kr (~$1100), so it all depends ☺️
This show when from Cartoon Network Justice League to HBO's Spawn pretty damn fast. Really spent 20 minutes after seeing it just staring my computer screen. So... Invincible *and* Attack on Titan reactions on the same week? You two are really testing Kat's resistence to animated gore. 😊
"Ok" when Immortals head came off had me dying. Get it? This shows story is TOP NOTCH, animation is amazing too. KAT YOU CAN DO THIS!!!! Many heart felt moments to come and an underlying good message.
Felt the same way Kat when I first watched this. Was pretty disturbed for the next couple of days. My 14 year old son on the other hand - knew what he was bringing dad into….🤣 Finishing the series, but watching Rick and Morty, and Falcon Winter Soldier (at the time of this release), just to help balance my mind out. It will get rough but the story ended up justifying the means. Calling it a ‘mature’ theme is pretty spot on. Looking forward to seeing more of your reactions on this and hopefully, ‘What If…’
When I went into this I know it was based on a Kirkman Comic and during the First Episode I really wondered where the "Kirkman" in this Show is but then this Post-Credit Scene came and I went "Yep Thats the Kirkman I know" and Guys... From Now on the Show doesn´t hold back on Violence
Nice reaction, you and your girlfriend have good insight overall into comics and what is going on with the show. I particularly enjoyed Kat's reaction towards the end, she was so shooked and that scene is brutal not just for the gore but how the build up the emotions for you to care for the guardians. Hope she's ok and willing to watch and review season 2.
This episode shocked me to the core. I did not know this existed before clicking play when I found it…just thought oh another interesting superhero cartoon story. *And then…*
My question is: Kat will have the stomach to watch the rest of the series? I think she will have a hard time watching this. Anyway, it will be good to follow another show with you guys.
Wow! I hope Kat doesn't suffer too much watching these new shows. While I'm certain that Kat will thoroughly enjoy both Invincible and AOT for their plot, and characters, the gore and violence in both shows are over the top compared to most things.
Yeah, When we get the warning that Kat cannot take a gory scene, I thought ok she'll look away at that scene. But it was more surprising that she watched it almost all of it.
No judgements on looking away, you'd think watching the boys would prepare you for super powered gore. But the boys just goes over the top for shock value and then moves on. This show idk just takes its time let's you feel the emotional weight.
That first episode left me traumatised. I didn't know anything about the series or comic going in. Didn't even know it would be ultra-violent. I was getting invested in that team, and like Sonny said, they're so similar to the JL. I was distraught afterwards.
Hi guys that was incredible and awesome reaction and ending of episode-it's a weird,Sonny I were same feelings when I finished to watch this episode first time and Kat you have such beautiful tatu I've never seen that one :)
I was thinking they should discuss if this is a show that she needs/wants to sit through, for her wellbeing. Especially this show packs some heavy visual mental & emotional punches. I've seen about 2 or 3 of their vids & I can tell its at least something they have to properly be warned about (without spoilers) & discuss for themselves if that's something they wanna watch, without any pressure. Yet again they seem to have heard that it is a gory show, but even then this show still has a way to mess with you. But oh well.. .
