Before watching the show: Is this gonna be another story about another Superman-like figure? After watching the show : Oh, so Mark's spirit and willpower is invincible, but not his body
Whoever approved the plot point of Amber knowing mark was a superhero after breaking up with him and then getting back with him, needs to be fired bro. They ruined the public’s mindset of amber and just made the character look bad
@@BrokensoulRider yea and then let eve pick it up in season 2. BOOM that’s all that’s needed. Just have amber just not like him that but keep her lovable and make mark go thru rejection but come out stronger
I want you all to realise someone thought it would be a good idea to show that Amber already knew Mark was invincible. This means that every time she was angry on Mark, she knew he was out there saving lives and yet decided to whine about it anyway
Really tone deaf move by the writers in a failed attempt to depict a "smart woman". Could have just followed the comics where she figures it out after and is reasonable. Comes off as really toxic here. It's amazing how they didn't see this lol
@@maxh276 This is just a guess, but maybe their only experiences with smart/strong women in the real world have been with toxic ones. With "their" referring to anyone who was included in the process of writing and greenlighting that scene.
I mean it could be possible they were trying to imply she only really figured it out after the cyborg attack, but I'm either remembering wrong or they don't imply that at all. Either way, stupid move on their part.
@@maxh276 they’re definitely just trying to set him up with eve early in the show unlike the comics where mark is with amber for a decent amount of time
I know it's only a joke, but he only survived so far because he was either saved in the nick on time or his opponents bailed. So yeah, Mark is most definitely vincible
I think the writers of the comics more intended that Mark calls himself Invincible (which means unbeatable, not invulnerable which many people mistake), because he believes he will be unbeatable like his dad, but he does loses most fights. But Mark does have a Invincible spirit. No matter how beat down he is or how hopeless and traumatised he is, he still holds onto is values and his spirit. That's how he, ultimately won the fight against his dad. Not with fists, but with his spirit / love. And I call it a win for Mark because Omni-man left and didn't conquer Earth. The latter being Marks objective.
Except they're not stupid, and there's a limit to how much they can ben manipulated. Also their lust for power and money makes the control he has over them very thin.
Or he could just make an army out of you know robots, oh wait (this isn’t spoilers because we see in episode “6?” that robot already has multiple ‘drones’)
"You just came from your friends funeral" "Coworkers...Acquaintances at best" Truer words have never more been spoken than that line. Friends get special privileges. Caring is one of them.
I hate the fact that they put an x over the female symbol on Eve's costume. I read the comics after the show and in there it's three rings going around the symbol like those of an atom ⚛
It's actually supposed to be the atomic rings in the show too. Every once in a while, a close up on eve will actually show it's the rings. I think whoever was animating the wide shots missed the memo or tried to save time and just hoped the audience would know what they meant 😂
They've got deadlines to meet. Anytime you're dealing with this much television budget animation, at this much detail, some frames are going to look worse than others.
@@juststatedtheobvious9633 I get making the lines to finish off the rings but what's adding one extra line to get across the atom look? For most of the show, I thought her name was AdamEve, some kind of reference to the Bible or smth but nope, she's AtomEve and her costume doesn't get that across at all.
Viltrumites have a healing factor, it’s not powerful enough to regenerate severed limbs like a arm but it’s powerful enough to make them survive things that would kill a normal human and heal way faster, and is also a plot device to make Mark being brutally beaten and have his whole body broken in different ways with no long-term consequences.
@@maxh276 When he compared Viltrumites to Saiyans, I guess he wasn't kidding. Marks gonna be the strongest guy at the end of the series with how much Zenkai's he gets from having his ass kicked. Makes me wonder if that Bully beating the shit out of him awoke his powers in the first place.
yeah, when he first threw that bag, all I could think of was "well that's gonna ruin someone else's day when it lands". And next episode all I could think of was "huh. Turns out it actually MADE someone else's day" and "oh there it is"
God this entire video is golden "White man's burden" Omni-man "Where all missing the Mark can do" "In other dysfunctional news, Mark and Amber" "Launches a attack on titan" "Hole in one Mark" "While Samson needs a hand and Monster girl loses face"
I do agree with you but even if that's how he meant it, that's a pretty disgusting way to refer to someone who is supposed to be an equal partner. Perhaps this especially strikes a nerve with some because (legally) pets are property and historically, women were thought of the same way. Not at all saying that this is how omni man thinks, just why the audience and the other characters perceived it as so horrifically negative.
@@mikemorro140 well in the show she literally put out a forest fire and proceeded to revitalize the burnt trees and then went on to grow an entire grape field meaning she can manipulate organic matter
The writers really fucked up on that one... I don't know if it was just a blindspot from trying to flesh out Amber more for the series or if it was them trying to make her unlikeable so we'd root for a future Mark and Eve relationship but either way it was terrible...
@@CollinMcLean Yeah I think really they were trying to push 'the message' by making amber assertive and a know it all but it kinda back fired. In the comics the amber was white but here she's black. I don't mind race changes or culture changes but at the very least don't do it for the pure sake of political appeal. Maybe give amber super powers or have her have some type of relationship to titan or something, idk anything is better then how poorly written she was. Amber could've been white or black in the show and her character would still be the same. Take an interesting black character like titan whose race heavily impacted what his character was, and he took over an entire criminal syndicate for his family. On top of how he masterfully manipulated Invincible he's an extremely interesting character and it's kind of unfortunate that his story takes a back seat in the comics but who knows maybe the writers of the show will do something different. Point is, a character isn't interesting simply because they're not Caucasian, but because their experiences because of their race is what makes them an interesting character.
@@seamusmcarthur666 I never mentioned her race? Because that honestly is one of the least important details to her character in the show and the comics.
Man if anything, Mark is out of Amber's league. NGL he's pretty hot and he has superpowers. And he's nice. What else could you want lol. Amber is just selfish.
Amber wouldn't come off as such a bitch if they didn't say that she knew Mark was Invincible. Her reactions were perfectly normal for someone who's not dating a superhero
Ya, i definitely agree with this. A date who stands you up multiple times, breaks promises with you, and disappears at first signs of danger isn’t great. But knowing he is a hero and being all “fuck saving people, come see me” was a terrible plot decision.
@@popenieafantome9527 it really does retroactively make Amber look bad. But to be fair, Mark lacks even the slightest bit of foresight or hindsight. His insistence on making promises he knows he can't keep is truly ridiculous. He barely makes an effort to craft a reasonable alibi and doesn't even wear a watch to keep track of time. Honestly, i was pretty neutral on Amber before she revealed that she knew the whole time. It just kind of makes her seem unreasonable. But it also doesn't make Mark look any better.
I like how accurate the show was to the comics and how much the animators didn't hold back. The fight scene's were amazing, and the cast made each moment that much better. this show is a 10/10 everytime.
I thought I was the only one who did that invincible equation at 18:08 You know Mark is a hero Mark left during an attack 15 seconds later invincible shows up Why did you think he left?
So interesting fact for anyone who hasn't found out yet the guardians of the globe were actually somewhat changed from their comic counterparts to fit their voice actors who were chosen kind of as an Easter egg due to the fact that they worked with Robert kirkman before on The walking Dead and red Rush specifically is played by the guy who played Abraham in The walking Dead
Expectations: Sarcastic Summary of Amphibia season 2. Reality: Sarcastic Summary of Invincible season 1. ehh I take it, nice trade.........but will stalk you until you do Amphibia for the rest of your life XD.
I kinda brushed off the warning at the beginning as Disney being overly sensitive..... Then I realized that yeah they kinda pushed the boundaries for a non anime kid show
@@generalzeta7000 oh yeah too true. Now I want to rewatch Hilda after my 2nd rewatching of rewatching of Amphibia to recollect the feels to hit me again with TC.
9:07 This scene accidentally made Triplicate the most hard character in the setting. It shows that she feels everything her copies feel, which means she regularly experiences being killed and she just isn’t phased.
In 6:14 her symbol was supposed to be the atom symbol mixed in with the female symbol but they animators just did an X. You can check out what it actually looks like but googling it or reading the comic.
6:51 funny enough rex wasn't this ripped or this hue of body color in the comics. he was less than mark but here he outclasses mark in body looks. thou mark does start working out and gets a lot hotter and juicier.
SPOILER FOR THE COMIC (about 2/3 of the way through the series) I think the scene where Monster Girl's half Flaxxan offspring leads their reborn empire through the portal to Earth (yet again) and immediately dumpsters the sky-burger cult's leader is one of the funniest (albeit morbid) scenes in the comic series.
It makes me wonder when the sincerity part of the cycle will start. I say that because we are in the cynicism part of the cycle where people trying to be cool and edgy try to take down and deconstruct a beloved icon. Superman, in this case. You have Omniman and Homelander. DC themselves have been doing it with the Injustice AU and the Snyder movies. The thing is, deconstruction suffers from the problem of diminishing returns. There is only so many ways to deconstruct the trope before your just repeating everyone else. When you get to that point, the only way to subvert expectations is to embrace a sincere unironic appreciation of the icon. Thus, we may enter into the aforementioned sincerity phase of the cycle.
I think Omni-man will be the last big one. I can't see another trope of this that won't be compared to him in the future. People already compare The Boys and Invincible, so the trope is definitely starting to wear out.
I agree with you there. I want to see wholesome, genuine Superman takes. I would be really happy if DC did something based on the Super-Family comic stories where Lois and Clark are raising Jon Kent and doing a really good job at it. It's so just nice seeing Clark be a good dad who doesn't want his son to be scared or traumatized by being a hero but he also takes the chances to talk to him about issues on an appropriate age level for a 12 year old. And he's a great husband too. I'm bored of deconstructions, I want sincerity.
@@Nightman221k have you seen that they're making a new cartoon about Lois and Clark just starting out (at both the Daily Planet and being Superman)? It looks cute and I'm excited for it.
"It makes me wonder when the sincerity part of the cycle will start." Spiderverse wasn't sincere enough? Falcon and Winter Soldier? Right now, we're having the dark deconstruction characters faced with hopeful and optimistic characters who challenge them right back. Only reason Superman's not already there is because Joss Whedon screwed up an impossible task. But even then, we get things like Superman in the last Doomsday cartoon basically being the Christopher Reeve version, despite using the new 52 costume. And he's had at least two reboots in two different continuities that are trying to bring us back the Superman who cares about every civilian casualty.
0:00 - 0:35 oh man I was replaying the intro so much I forgot that it wasn't the whole video and was genuinely spooked and surprised when he started talking..
