What does that even mean though? It's just a easy throw away line that holds no water. It's just foreshadowing that he's going to sacrifice himself to redeem his actions.
@@taviddurley7502 I disagree, I think it shows that the weight of his responsibilities leads to him needing to make weighted decisions or “keeping things gray” as he calls it. It leads to him hating himself as it would for most other people because you have to take those actions that carry heavy burden such as trying to kill off invincible and Omni man in front of Debbie because he knows the world needs to be safe and he’ll have to be the one to do it.
@@Raccoon-ut3dv He's just saying it as a quippy response to Debbie and then proceeding as normal. You buy into it because this human character needs to say a line like that to have you relate. But in a matter of good story telling and character development, the only substance this line has is obvious foreshadowing that he would feel responsibility to redeem all of his past actions. If he truly hated himself, wouldn't he, you know, act like it?
@@taviddurley7502 this man is the only thing (besides mark) keeping nolan from killing everybody he doesn’t have time to worry about “acting like he hates himself even if he really does” he says that line as a way of saying “ I hate what I have to do but I have to do it”
@@lilshokan He’s gonna take him into the city. Let him see a few things. Although afterwards they have a quick talk so Omni-man can try to pound some things into marks head.
To be fair, nolan didnt take it seriously and was trying to get away from it with his guard down (he didnt realize cecil had juiced it up). We saw mark pull a W out of his ass on it, so im sure if omni man attacked it head on 100%, he would have killed it.
@@kadeweezywoodward9485 yea I thought so too. Lowering his guard to wait for the monster to open his mouth recklessly. A opened mouth is very sensitive and Nolan would've one shotted it in the right moment

I love that even Cecil admits that he hates his job, himself and the positions he's forced into because of the shit going on around him. It can't be easy trying to lead an organization like that, knowing that you yourself have no use for battle and have to spend your time giving orders, watching and praying that your plans work out because if your heroes fall so will you.
@@steverogers7601 Actual leadership, not politicians masquerading as four-star generals. Cecil doesn't seem to be endangering the world and the heroes to get a good press briefing.
Sometimes, you grow up wanting to save people like heroes you looked up to Only to find out you are often put into positions where the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.
I feel so bad for cecil, he's the one that has to make the hard decisions, and unlike everyone else he works with, he seems to be the only one that really cares.
@@griff1286 Cecil does care, but there are so many rouge situations, he knows he needs to be the one making The Decision each time. He only seems like a liar to us because he constantly has to make these shitbag decisions. Look at what he’s faced. Omni-Man slaughtered the ENTIRE team, so he had 0 people to constantly rely on anymore, then, Omni-Man beats the snot and blood out of his own son, before flying off. Invincible was their strongest hero at the time. If he can be beaten easily, by his father, and his father is scared of his bosses coming, then what else could just plow through the earth like an afternoon snack? While he was managing the situation, (you’ve read far enough, you know SPOILERS are coming now if you’re still reading) Mark says “F*ck This Shit!!” And quits heroing. He literally STOPS being the one defender for his world. That wasn’t just as simple as a teenage boy dropping out of high school. That was ‘They had a barely small chance but was all they had, and were working round the clock to find a better solution but nothing had come yet, then suddenly, BOOM! No chance at all, they have no chance and must assume at every second they could be invaded by said too strong person, That is an omega level catastrophe, all stop must occur or the Earth is doomed’ So He blackmails Mark, he bugs Mark, he does incredibly cruel things to Mark. He doesn’t love himself for these. He hates doing them. But there is ZERO choice in the matter in his view. If the other programs hadn’t gone rouge, like Atom Eve’s program for instance (meaning the guys running it, not her.) He would have had other measures to rely on instead. Instead, Mark, Invincible. He was his one and only card. He had nothing else to save the world. Just to say, even in his shittiest moments, don’t bash Cecil too hard like that. In Invincible, his paranoia goes beyond justified. He’s underestimating the foes before he even knows he’s underestimating and thinks said card is the strongest they’ve got so it must work…. Right?
@@GlitchPitbunny uh, when? It's barely shown, and when it is, its just laying there still. Pretty sure it's not dead, especially since it went down like this before and they brought it back.
You know there are a lot of times in this episode where Cecil can explain the situation and what's happening to the heroes but just does nothing but tell them "Do what I say." he's seriously making this a more complicated situation for them than it needs to be.
He doesn't want them to get killed by omni man unless there all together as a last stand. Its not more complicated, it's a contingency plan bro. Tbh Cecil is scared Mark might join omni man too.
@@PRIME_MINISTER_OF_DN And that means he can't simply say "Omni-Man has gone bad and killed the Guardians." why exactly? Like that's all he needs to say but all he tells Eve and the new Guardians is "Do what I say."
@@ReaperBlaze76 Cecil doesn't want to escalate the situation further. Sure, he's tried to destroy omniman several times this episode, but he hasn't got anyone outside of the organisation involved. If he told the new guardians about omniman, they might do something wreckless.
Mark: Dad I saved you!!!! Omniman: ....... Mark: Dad...??? Omniman: ...... Your mom is my pet I’m centuries old Get ready to live with your cousins Make Viltrum Great Again
Ya see what appreciate about Cecil as a character is that a lot in his position end up deluding themselves with some creed about "the greater good" into thinking they're an all-knowing force of justice. Cecil recognizes the evil of the choices he makes, he doesn't view himself as right, he views himself as necessary, and he'd be relieved if the day ever came when he wasn't.
I can’t help but respect a man who understands his flaws but still try’s to make a difference. Nothing is simply black or white and Cecil knows that. It’s a tough pill to swallow but he’ll gladly take it without water.
@@seasons1745I'm gonna keep this spoiler free they are but it's done very differently, in the show cecil seems more.. human and omni man seems to genuinely care about he's family here where in the comics he only cared about he's son living up to he's expectations as viltrumite, the mom in the show is ACTUALLY a character and the mauler twins don't die like they did with robot earlier in the episode unlike in the comics, also the mauler twins feel more.. I guess you can say real here unlike in the comics
I kind of love how when Mark talks about teaming up with his dad, just seeing Nolan having a look of hope in his eyes is almost sweet when you don’t know his intentions. Nolan could have seen this as a turning point, hoping in this moment Mark would stay on his side.
Reminder: Cecil said that the Kaiju needed the whole Guardians of the Globe to beat, including Omni-Man. This is why he struggled to beat it, even though he's a planet buster.
Actually Omni man defeated it alone, but it was a hard fought battle. Then Cicil brought it in, gave it every strength enhancing drug, magic, technology, everything they had and sent it after Omni-man again. Also it was pissed off which probably helped.
@@thebaldcat6708 Don't forget that they also removed every pain center in it's nervous system. So on top of everything, it can unlock it's full strength by destroying it's own body and not feel a thing.
@@anxiousearth680 My guess would be is that they'd kill each other or Nolan would just barely win. I don't think there's a scenario in which the kaiju simultaneously "wins" and survives the battle.

0:40 you can see the humanity to Omni man how happy he was to see his son and have his son save him. Obviously shortly after all that changed but in that moment he thought he lost everyone already but still had his son.
Cecil is the best secret government agent character of any IP. Intelligent, competent, and confident. But also entirely self aware of his own short comings in both his capabilities as just a human and the sacrifice of his morals to get a job done.
@@bluephoenix4357 No, mark wouldn't have the experience and prep needed when the viltrimites get serious SPOILER mark if he continued as is wouldn't have stood a chance against conquest.

@@FaczutMon because she’s not an idiot and this series has a habit of subverting convention for a more interesting story. Cecil makes a good point she can’t dispute, their is no way she could stop him and if she tried she’d fail immediately and she knows that.
Saved him... I mean maybe, but I'm gonna maintain my theory that Nolan was a bit distracted or holding back. Because he sure as hell could beat the crap out of Mark despite his "injuries". The man doesn't even have a scratch on him.
He was damaged by the monster, but Viltrumites just have a ridiculous healing factor. Remember the Kaiju made him bleed and pass out, so I think he was going to die. I don't see any way he was distracted, the monster was clearly his focus of attention in that moment, and why would he hold back on purpose when this thing was interfering with his plans?
I can totally understand Cecil. He knows that not only does he need to make the tough calls like these, he is willing to make them. I think THAT'S why he hates himself because he is actually able to make those calls.
This situation is so weird from an audience standpoint. We don't want Omniman to get killed, be ause if that thing kills Omniman it's also gonna kill Mark. But we also don't want mark and Omniman to win because that Kaiju is the only thing might actually be able to fight Omniman and win.

@@minial0015 yeah but theres a much bigger picture here. if mark cant stop his father (and he didnt) and cecil didnt let godzilla kill him literally. adn i mean literally EVERYONE was gonna die
I think a part of Omni Man wanted to die. Because when Mark saves him, He gives him a look like he is scared to be alive because he has to follow through with the conquest. Then when Mark goes after the kaiju, Omni Mans expression changes too, ok stick to the plan.
Idk about that. Think of it like this. US soldiers fight in Vietnam, drop nukes on Japan, etc etc, all in the name of their cause and them believing in their nations motives. Omni Man is in the same boat. From a nation, fighting for the nations cause, believing in that cause. The US has killed thousands if not millions of innocents, in the name of their own cause. The US believe what they’re doing is right. Even if what they’re doing (killing innocents) is wrong. That’s exactly what Omni man is doing, in the name of his home.
@@michaelof2000 we dropped nukes on japan because they were delusional and thought they could keep fighting a war that was over already, do you have any idea what the Japanese even did too people during ww2 i suggest u read some war stories
@@AnimeProtag I had relatives that fought and died in Pearl Harbor kid, I know more than you. It was a comparison. Japan deserved more than 2 nukes in my opinion. “about time we did a team up” he expected this this to be the brake he needed to regain his confidence sadly things were only going to get much worse for him
They should've interrogated Machine head and found out how to contact Battle Beast. Battle beast could most probably gravely injure Omniman at the very least I doubt he'd come to earth again though. He seemed pretty disappointed last time.
Bruh what’s with the blood image clickbait? I get it that there’s gore in the show but it’s not really nessecary when there’s scenes that don’t involve violence. I just find it kinda annoying tbh
I kind of dislike the portion of the fanbase that keeps saying he gets hurt on purpose and is always taking things easy. Can't he be a bad ass AND get hurt time to time. He isn't actually the OP Superman with like 2 weakness, he is strong but they did a good job showing he isn't completely unstoppable. But too many people are like "Nooo he let himself get beaten or bleed to blah blah blah"
I mean, I don't think he was trying his hardest here. Dude decimated an entire planet in minutes, literally flying throught it. He also said he stopped an asteroid the size of Texas 🤷♀️ I dunno the details but from the other feats he's told us about or shown, this monster could've literally just been a way to get Mark on his side. Or they just have power scaling on a fight-to-fight basis like most comic-book stories lol
That's my main problem with invincible, even if I love the series and comics. If you give a character feats that show he can deal with a situation, don't be surprised when fans complain he can't.
@@SarkyBrit my point is if you read the comics there are actually a lot of monsters that give his people a hard time or challenge if not kill them. A monster like this can be that but people keep wanting to basically make omni man invincible. Yeah he did those things you said but again there are many creatures that give his race a hard time.
Cecil: *Siiiigh* "That's why I hate me too..." damn, the fact that he acknowledged her words and pretty much agreed with her just shows how much of a bastard he really is. Going by any means to take revenge even if Mark goes down with his dad. Sometimes you just gotta love to hate those kinds of slime balls who insist on getting the job done by any means.
It's not about revenge. Omniman killed one of the best chances at protecting the earth from him, and is planning on taking over. Cecil is just doing what needs to be done to stop a planetary threat, by any means necessary. Even if he doesn't agree with the means
The one thing I’m looking forward to in this cartoon is the invincible war. The comic sorta failed to grip me with how little actual interaction between the antagonists during it but it always sounded interesting and the concept itself was cool as fuck. Hopefully the cartoon does it better
Cecil hating himself for what he does is such great character. He knows what he's doing is morally wrong, but he also knows that someone has to do the dirty work to keep the world safe. Damian Darkblood was right. There's a worse place than Hell waiting for Cecil, and Cecil knows this
But Debi's reaction is also cold watching Mark almost getting eaten and she goes back to watching like its Tv show after saying "That is why I hate you". A real mom should be in panic.
i love cecil. he knows that he is doing things wrong and his methods might be brutal or unethical. but he is ready make that sacrifice to save other innocent people from getting hurt or worse.
