@@thinix396 you're taking that phrase too literally, omni man would kill anyone if it meant completing his mission as he's literally done it before, but she's different because she showed him why life matters and what its like to have a human experience, he may act like he doesnt truly care for her and thats also why he spared mark during their fight
@@thinix396 And for what reason would a Viltrumite give a shit about pets? Viltrumite don't care about owning something because as long as yhey have power, they DO have everything. So Nolan is pretty much just making something up so that he doesn't have to face the truth that he does indeed love her. He wouldn't have listened to her and cheered on for Mark, or ignore Debbie's plead to defeat the dragon and instead let Cecil handle it when he risks people finding out that Omniman is just letting people die to date with his woman, and plus it clearly is more beneficial for him to keep up his act to defeat the dragon instead of dating with Debbie, especially since it doesn't achieve anything. Besides, he did basically nothing up until he found out Mark had powers. For a Viltrumite, where power and duty triumphs above all, there is quite literally no reason for him to just waste years doing something pointless like having a family. Debbie isn't a pet, and even IF she was, it's not the type where it's just a possession like he's making it out to be, as if he never really cared when Mark asked him "What about Mom?". TLDR; He still loved her, and the argument is that whether he does or does not. The pet statement was trying to make it seem like he does not. While failing terribly.
@@HalvoDraws it basically means that he, as Viltrumite will outlive her as we, humans, outlive our pets like dogs and it's sad to lose someone you loved very much
What’s unsettling about this scene is that Debbie went to bed drunk after their little argument and Nolan stood in the kitchen and stared outside the window all night in pure silence and waited until morning for Debbie to wake up so he could talk to her
Weirdly, I don't find this unsettling at all. It actually offers hope about the character of Nolan, that despite what he had done, and the terrible implications, he isn't a complete monster. Despite everything, he still wants to talk to her later.
@@Cathart1c Mark didn't tell him to leave the solar system. He chose that course of action for himself. Debbie ordered the most powerful being in her solar system (not in the whole universe, I know) out of her house, and he left. Mark lost a fistfight, but is probably the only person to ever survive fisticuffs with Omni-Man. Debbie won a purely verbal altercation.
@@brettzforeman Different person here, but I see what you and the other guy are saying. I think, however, that it's all relative in that Omni-Man is just losing "fights" in general. He's "winning" or "wins" but ultimately loses. The thing is, he's winning by Viltrum standards of his task being a soldier, but as a human and a husband? Yeah. He's a loser (Not condescendingly speaking).
@@brettzforeman that's what we call psychological victory. Mark stood his ground and refused to shift his morals and even made his father feel bad and stop attempts to kill him (which he was totally fine to do, since "what's more 18 years?").
His face after hearing “twenty years together” as if that was just a week to a viltrume relationship status..like it was nothing, before he broke and turned away from her. Realizing those twenty years STILL mattered to him despite how short
He lied to himself the most. Thinking his life on Earth mattered little to him, but it was actually the opposite. Why else would he just fly away? If Debbie meant so little to him, he’d kill her once she found out about the Guardians death.
Nah, if it mattered little, he’d kill her when trying to confront him. He doesn’t want to conquer earth. He only tried to because he was told to, not because he desired to.
You make a point, with his powers, he can easilly errase her from the Planet, leave no trace behind, then when Mark returns, he would just act sad and disapointed...explain how his mother left them... or maybe can set an accident? So easy for him to get rid of her so he can focus on training Mark...but he didn't do that.
To break it down.....Nolan took too long to conquer Earth for the Viltrum Empire. He took out the strongest group that would stand a chance of stopping him, but has kept on his hero persona. He did not count on falling in love and having a son, but he has been training said son(Mark) so he could conquer earth by Nolan’s side. Nolan just left too many variables in play, that’s why his plan all went pear-shaped.
Yeah but, I also have to blame his ppl the Viltrumiants for their corrupt society. Even though their ways ties close to the saiyans which ik a big fan of.
@@ampocalypsew3883 Their regular on their own planet and yeah they have their own advanced civilization there, they still basically all work as part of a giant planet conquering and selling organization. Bardock is meant to be a more decent guy than most Saiyans and it's pointed out caring as much as he did about his son was pretty much noted to be a weird among Sayian society in the Broly movie (IRC Gine actually questions him on this and he just says something along the lines of "Maybe for once I want to save something instead of destroying it") Unless your talking about the U6 Saiyans in which case, that's all Multiverse shit getting flipped between universes shinnanigans.
@thewalrus45 that wasn't the Saiyans' original planet or technology. They conquered it and took the tech from the civilization they wiped out to use for themselves.
That's true for most every girl. My ex was super tiny but that never stopped her from giving me hell. I would never have hurt her and Debbie knew Nolan wouldn't either. He's many things, but not a wife beater.
@@c.w.k.n.5117 That's not 100% analogous because Nolan could do it absolutely effortlessly and also not bear any consequences due to his superpowers and also Debbie knew what he's capable of at this point.
@pinkraven4402 I'm probably 10x stronger than my ex gf tbh, but the point is she knew that regardless of how much power he may have had, he wasn't capable of hurting her. She literally threw a bottle at him.
"There's an entire race of people just as strong as me on their way to conquer Earth. If I do not conquer Earth for them, they will kill me, you, Mark, and everyone we love and care about." Seriously Omni man you could have just the truth she would have understood
Never answer a woman's question directly. They will not be satisfied with it, they will just analyze and think of more questions. She would get angrier upon hearing that he had lied even longer and that he has murdered many before.
@@faded9581True though apparently Debbie does join them in several alternate realities so maybe Nolan should've been honest. Or probably Debbie was told the truth after she calmed down in these other realities.
Waking up the next morning and still feeling the dread from the events the day before is so relatable. She woke up and realized that everything has changed between her and the man she loves.
"After twenty years together I deserve to know the truth" This part hits different when you remember that Viltrumites live far longer than humans. To Debbie, that is a reasonable plea, but to Nolan, it's meaningless. From a human perspective she has a right to know the truth, but from a viltrumite (in this case, Nolan) perspective, she is unworthy of knowing the truth, as 20 years is essentially nothing for a viltrumite.
Omni-man is 2,000 years old. 20 years is only 1% of his life for reference if you are 30 years old then the equivalent would be knowing someone for about 4 months
Even then, it's interesting to see his face change during the argument. Even if 20 years is practically nothing to how long Nolan can live, you can tell it still actually meant something to him.
No it isn't, 1 second is 1 second, 10 minutes is 10 minutes, 20 years is 20 years. That is a long time, relationships are built on trust and time, the more time the more you should trust. It does not matter how long you live. Even if you live for 1,000,000 years 10 or even 20 is a long time.
Yeah Nolan even said something like “our first date was only a few years ago” and Debbie says “our first date was 20 years ago Nolan” like my guy thinks 20 yrs is like a nap
I honesty believe that he had truly forgotten his mission, had actually become the hero he pretended to be at the start, until Mark got his powers and those ideas, those feelings he had left behind all came flooding back The marked change in Nolans behavior before and after the power reveal and its erratic nature is his love and duty to Viltrum as a soldier conflicting with his love and duty to Earth and his family as a father, its why he kills the guardians, but doesn’t take over immediately, and why the outfit is still there, its his familial duty calling for help, trying to remind him what he has here that he never had on Viltrum Its also why he leaves both here at at the end, the father in him cannot accept what the soldier in him does to his family, be it probably want to silence debbie or nearly kill mark, so it tells him to leave to protect them
I think she can't possibly imagine Nolan would just kill a defenseless being for no reason, especially his own wife (which is true he wouldn't kill her despite everything) At this point, she doesn't know of the atrocities he's truly capable of. From her perspective, Nolan killed a bunch of superpowered heroes for some reason he's not telling her. It wasn't until the finale that Nolan revealed to everyone how evil he can be.
Omni-Man: "Mark, I do love your mother but she's more like...A PET to me." Debbie: "Get out of my house!" Nolan, with rolled newspaper: " BAD! BAD DEBBIE!" 😂
It's his Viltrumite philosophy and conditioning setting in when Nolan says "you have to trust me." He definitely would not blindly trust anyone who was so obviously holding out on him. But because she is an Earthling, and his spouse, she should trust him. Because that's the plan he's had for so long, and it's better for the weaker to trust the stronger to rule them (as the Viltrumites might say).
"You're still not telling me NOW." That's an amazing line, such a simple callout. I also love that he doesn't try to force her or get physical. He still tries to talk. (Though flying through the roof is a dick move.)
@@AB_7092 oh no he wrecked one train to show his son how much more frail humans were than him that totally puts him on the same moral level as people that do similar for shits and giggles.
@deplorabledegenerate2630 No he isn't, Omni Man killed more people on Earth than Vegeta. The only time Vegeta killed people on Earth was when he fired a small ki blast at people at the world tournament when he and goku were about to fight. Other than that Vegeta has always been a douchebag, but ever since the freiza saga he went from an anti hero to a hero
If Nolan didn't care about Debbie, he could have easily turned her into paste and just convinced Mark that the same guy who killed the Guardians of the Globe killed her trying to hunt her down, he could have even convinced Mark that it was Cecil who did it; but instead he decided to hold back...
Omniman’s greatest enemy is himself. He let himself keep his suit for Debbie or others to see. He doesn’t want to harm anyone with Mark and Debbie around or even Cecil until it’s time. He’s upset at Mark earning his powers because it reminded him why he’s truly in Earth. And that fact that he ran away from everything meant that Omniman lost the fight and Nolan win but at the cost of his other self running away.
I bet he even considered postpone Earth conquering plan till Debbie dies from old age, but Mark getting his powers changed things form him and probably thought he would have more chances to convince him now that he's still young and have less attachments to Earth.
The fact that Nolan didn't kill her off right there really shows that he actually loved her after all, even if she was just a "Pet" to him. His time on Earth really affected his Viltrumite ruthlessness, and started to care for people...
What makes the comment weird is he considered her as a pet but he had a child with her. I don't know about anyone else but I'd never make love to a pet under any circumstances.
@@viperneongaming4314 My understanding is she's a "pet" because he outlives her as a human would a cat. Pets can still be cared for deeply. The interspecies thing is already happening, the "pet" thing is a side note at that point.
@@josephreynolds2401 A tortoise ,if taken, care of can outlive a human. We are their pets. Still, I have pets and still do. I never did anything with them nor has that thought crossed. Has it with you?
It shows he's still abusive even if he didn't beat up Debbie. He will wreck her things if she annoys him. And force her to pay for it. (Yes, even if not financially, it's her house, her ceiling with a hole in it too, her human body exposed to cold.) Just another thing abusers who think they're not abusive if they don't hit you often do. He may have loved her but this was not a healthy relationship.
This just shows that he is lying to himself in order to get over Debbie/mark. He can say whatever he wants but when face to face with their raw emotions he can’t lie about the emotions he feels as well even though he has been trained since birth to be a different way. That is Omni man’s true internal struggle. Should he abandon every single thing he’s ever known for something he’s felt only for a mere fraction of his lifespan?
My brain was like "Did he say Mark too or Mark II" And I questioned myself "Why my brain is like this..." It was not even a good joke and yet somehow I laughed a bit
The fact he could’ve killed her… but didn’t. Wow. Deep down Omni man really did love his family. Maybe even more than the empire and the whole time he was just in denial.
Nolan's evolution through this series has been fascinating to watch. You get the impression that he WILL truly redeem himself. But I suspect those who have read the comic series probably know how that plays out.
I wonder if Omni man had an option or wasn't forced by the Viltrum Empire that he could've not kill the guardians of the globe. I wonder if he would still do it at his own willing discretion or something else.
Viltrum enforced ruthless blind loyalty The only reason Nolan held out so long was the love of his family, but Mark's powers brought all those old feelings back to the surface
@kevinprehm@@KungKras I think you guys are preaching to the choir, reasonably I don't blame you two. I meant in a different dimension, hence me "I wonder IF Omni man had an option" to act on his own. To take Earth whatever means necessary ofc, but for the guardians of the globe he was willing to make a choice on his own. Like to begin with, we all saw the show and probably no matter what he had to kill them out of threat or because he was order to/loyal whatever pretty much I answer my question. But again my question was and still is IF he had power to act on his own for his, it would be nice to see what options he had or would've done differently if the writers let it. Of course it won't happen, of course it doesn't matter, but since you guys came in to reply I meant it in a sense of.. like a fun thought. That's all, but thanks for stopping by yall. I dropped the show after season 1 but it's still good for those that missed it/or plan to watch it. Go for it!

I did a very rough set of math, where a human’s Max lifespan is roughly 100 years (typical Max old age) and a Viltrumite’s Max lifespan being roughly 25,000 years (Conquest’s estimated Max lifespan). With these numbers the math of 20 years to Debbie’s lifespan to a Viltrumite is only 29.2 days (roughly a month) comparatively to humans’ time perception.
@@boredguy6970I just looked up how old Conquest was because he seems like the oldest Viltrumite in the comics that's alive (correct me if I'm wrong) so he may be plus or minus 25,000 years that's just what the Wiki told me
If you are conquering earth you wouldn't care that the humans 'find out' who you really are. He loved his life and family on earth so he thought he could have both, but ended up losing everything
After that Comic con episode, I've just spotted that when Nolan is talking his mouth doesn't even moving, you can see it from the reflection on the window at 0:41. It's hilarious 😂😂
Either Debbie is the bravest person or stupidest cuz she knows if he wanted to he could kill her in less than a second especially since she’s only a “pet” to him
Dude I don't understand this show, this man literally killed her friends and the Earth's heroes, but he's talking to him like she only caught him flirting with a coworker. Wtf 😂😂😂
@@LiberalsSmellBad No he did not try to tell her the truth. He is still trying to hide that he is there to conquer earth and he does not want her to find out because he cares about her
Y'know what bothers me? The reason why Nolan killed the guardians is because they were a threat to the viltrumites. If they were, he could have told them the truth, and then together, they could've stop the viltrumites.
Despite their awful circumstances, Nolan's and Debbie's relationship is still portrayed in such as positive light. Problems don't fix themselves overnight and physical boundaries are best set in order to deescalate the situation. Neither of them are in the right because they both acted out of emotional turmoil and that's what makes them so human and believable.
To be fair, it's hard to say that Debbie is not in the right here. We're talking about a person who can pretty much do anything he wants on Earth, and he just murdered 6 people just because and he's not telling us. Normally you'd call the cops but of course that doesn't really apply here, so just kicking him out and telling him what he did was wrong is the best decision.
Wait, how is Debbie not in the right? She just found out her husband murdered six of their closest friends and refuses to explain why and is demanding she trust him. If anything, her response is surprisingly level-headed and subdued.
