Good review. Though if I could make one suggestion, and this is only my opinion, it would be to consider the context of what a movie is trying to be, rather than assessing it on what you as an individual like seeing in movies in general. For instance, you commonly refer to the film's dark tone, slow pace and Logan's moral complexity as things you didn't enjoy. Fair enough. However, the fact is that Logan wasn't trying to be a traditional fun comic book movie., not that there's anything wrong with comic book films, they provide enjoyable experiences through creative spectacles and enjoyable characters consistently in the modern era. But, Logan wasn't trying to be a traditionally comic book film, it can only really be considered a comic book film in the first place due to its source material, which in fairness, had a similar dark tone. Instead, consider the film as a drama, Logan being portrayed as a complex, morally ambiguous anti-hero arguably makes him more interesting as he has room, as a character to develop, as well as giving him layered emotions that make him interesting to be around. In most superhero films, many off the hero's are very morally perfect, again there is nothing wrong with this as it makes them fun to root for, but this also means that the conflict, the interesting stuff, has to come from an outside source, a villain. This is definitely present in Logan, with a villain still being present. However, the more interesting conflict comes from the way these flawed characters interact, Logan trying to manage both a little girl and a dementia stricken Professor X, becoming a better person than the alcoholic a**hole he is in the beginning in the film. Now, I can perfectly understand people not liking this, Logan is still technically a comic movie and the main character's lack of traditional heroic traits can be seen as off putting. However, if you strip away the "comic book" stereotype, Logan's character has more layers, and thus more intrigue, than the vast majority of characters in action films. We don't know if he'll do the right thing, but we want him to and so stay with the movie to find out. Finally, on the topic of Logan as a role model for children... this could just be a personal thing, but I think the responsible thing for a parent to do is to not let their young children watch this film until they're a tad older, I'm not a good source for this as I myself am not a parent, but to me, it just seems like common sense. Moreover, in regard to Professor X's large speeches. Again, in a traditional comic book film, they would likely take away from the action, which people paid money to see. However, in Logan, not a traditional comic book film, I believe they are used to add complexity to the story and characters, which were realistically the large selling point of the film for most people, rather than the action. They add to the emotional impact, as the audience is forced to see what disseise has done to a character they once respected. Furthermore, they are, if you really listen to them, what push Logan forward, he's only doing this for Charles, as Charles believes Logan can be a better human being and Logan wants to be believe he can be better to. Thus, when Charles dies, not only is it an emotional moment for the audience, as they've known the character for so long, yet they secretly wanted him to die to end his suffering, at least I did, but it also marks a large story beat for Logan's character. His motivation for doing this whole thing is now gone, so he could just leave if he wanted to. But instead, he sticks with Laura, showing how he has developed as a character as he has developed a connection to this little girl when he had previously been selfish. This leads perfectly into the ending, where he dies excepting her as his daughter, signifying the end of his character arc. This wouldn't have been possible without Professor X acting as Logan's initial encouragement to take on Laura, and the only thing connecting him to his humanity at the beginning of the movie, and then dying for the purpose of showing how Logan has opened up more of his humanity by sticking with Laura despite his oldest friend dying. Again, I can understand why you didn't like the speeches, they did cause there to be big breaks between the action, which appears to be your main draw for seeing the film. However, I personally view the action, given the way it is framed in the film, to be something to be appalled at made uncomfortable by, rather than to be viewed as cool or exiting, as it is in other films, though it is still certainly cool and exiting. Getting back on topic, I can see why you don't like the speeches. However I, viewing the film as a drama love how Patrick Stewart's phenomenal performance was integrated into the film. Furthermore, the understanding of the film's intent is vital in understanding its ending. Logan being depowered throughout the film, not only at the ending is meant to make the audience feel pity for him as he is past his prime. This, in addition to his wish for death and his complete character arc, make his death feel earned. In regards to the ending shot of the children going off to Canada, cutting off before we see if they're safe or not. I believe this was purposefully ambiguous. One of my favourite ever moments from the Nostalgia critic is when he states how disgusted he is at how the movie killed the ambiguous, interesting ending of the original book, replacing it with a generic clear cut ending where all the characters are happy, comparing it to what would've happened if they revealed weather or not the top falls over at the end of Inception, or what Bill Murray says to Scarlet Johansson at the end of Lost in Translation. There are plentiful movies that benefit from a clear cut ending that answers everything. For instance, murder mysteries are so good due to the reveal of everything, leaving things unexplained would come off as lazy or hollow. And the MCU movies have good clear cut endings as we see the characters we're rooting for succeed and ready to fight the next threat. However, drama's like Logan are trying to tell more nuanced and intricate stories that the filmmakers want people to be talking about after they've left the theatre. Thus the ambiguity of the ending causes people to speculate on what does happen next. Do the kids successfully restart the X-Men, do they not, we don't know and will likely never know, leaving room for individual people to come to their individual conclusions, causing more discussion about the film. Now, in your review, you suggested that making the film more like a traditional comic book movie would've made it better. However, I believe that the many changes this film makes to the comic book movie formula is what has caused people to love it so much, it's something new that they've never seen a comic book film do before, it's innovative, it took risks. Now, I'm not calling Logan, the greatest thing ever, in actuality I think it stole a lot of it's story from a film called Children of men. But, I do think it deserves the praise it receives for taking full advantage of everything given to it and making something truly innovative. Thus, making it more traditional would've stripped it of it's uniqueness. A world where all comic book movies are the same, creating another creatively dead genre. Is that really a world we want to live in? In conclusion, I still think you made a great video, you made some excellent points about the plot and presented your opinion tactfully. Moreover, I know from personal experience how hard things like editing and recording are, so massive praise there. I just wanted to throw my opinion out there and provide some, hopefully, constructive criticism. I look forward to seeing more content from you and hope that this year brings you many more loyal subscribers.

Sorry sorry... but... “excepting her” I do believe the word you’re looking for is “accepting” Excepting someone is excluding someone. And accepting someone would be to include them. Like: I accept all people in to my life. Except my stepdad he’s a dick

Jesus Christ, I love your video, I do, their funny and enjoyable. But this is an bad review on this movie, if it’s your opinion, I understand, freedom of thought. But it hurt me watching the video. Some of the rambling/taking in the movie is agreeably useless and boring, but some of it is important. Like the scene where Charles is talking in the room, it’s supposed to be emotional and tear jerking. We’re watching a character who was once a symbol of hope for mutants, who is now a elderly and depressed man who caused the death of his loved ones by accident. And Logan is a character who is done and tired with the word’s shit, he sad to see the extinction of mutants in two timelines, and was the only survivor of the x-men. He’s having survivors guilt and is depressed, he sees nothing worth living for other than Charles. And eventually finds someone worth dying for. This movie was a perfect way to end the run of Hugh Jackman as wolverine. Just my thoughts, I respect your opinion and still like your RU-vid channel.

Loved your alternative idea for the movie, would have loved to have seen "Laura" instead. Logan was just a really sad movie the majority of the time with hardly any positivity and just destroyed characters I loved! I definitely had to watch comedy after seeing Logan.

Professor Xavier dies in X-men 3 remember? Also, his death made everyone take dumbs decision like closing the school cause she have to die with him. In short, his death was much more powerful and tragic in this movie than in X3. Honestly, i like the action scenes in this movie; they are fast, amazing and gory. Love them :D The ones in the Wolverine are cool too especially against Viper.

I thought the clone was not set up right. And there was too much telling, not showing. It never emotionally stayed with me. And there was no full circle to his origin. Sure, that film sucked, but why is Canada always seeming to be a nonentity in his cinematic identity?

X-24 is the one-line description of 90s Wolverine in the comics. Wolverine's character arc since the first X-men movie has been about learning who he is and building a life for himself and a family. He's been holding back the Weapon X part of himself since the first moment we saw Hugh Jackman on screen in 2000. The fact that Wolverine loses the fight with his demons and has to be saved by Laura is the entire point of why men become fathers. So that our children can outlive us, and surpass our failures without reliving our mistakes.

I disagree with you with regards to this movie, I just don't think you understood what it managed to do with the characters, but I still generally enjoy your unique style of presentation. I would suggest you shout a bit less though, might help you gain more subscriptions. There's a time to rant and a time to not rant.
