Invisible Orbeez 

I found them in a science kit at a dollar store called Five Below. There are tons of comments on this video though about a website that you can order them from (I think the site is called vat19 or something...scroll through these comments and you'll see what I mean). @ItsThangNgu Haha..Thanks! It's a Canon Vixia HF 200. It's amazing what you can get for under $1000 nowadays (I got this one brand new online on sale from B and H Photo Video for just over $500). It's well worth the money if you are serious about shooting video. I highly recommend this camera. The only down side is that it's labor- intensive (a minute of video uses about an average of 70-100MB of memory).

At my school, we call those Orbies.

I got some at my local art store (Michaels). You can get them at flower shops too since they are meant for flowers. Just ask for water absorbing polymers

Very interesting. I have a few questions that I hope you can answer. What happens over a greater period of time? Do the balls stop growing at roughly marble size? Do the refractive properties change? What happens when the balls are left to dry?

cool stuff

just count the volume of the polymer that make up the shell of the ball. before, as the ball hasnt sucked up much water, the shell is thick, making it visible. as the ball sucks in water, it's volume expands, along with it's area. so, the thickness of the polymer shell decreases, to a point that it become. no longer visible. it's like putting a SUPER THIN layer of polymer, or other see through material under water.

Oh yeah i got one of those. I put it in a glass of water, waited 5 hours, forgot about it, drank the water, and DANG it tasted bad.

That last pert felt like something out of a Tool music video....crazy!

@Rm49ismyname you understand that making a suit out of this would just mean that they seem naked while underwater, and they seem to be wearing a glass suit, which is seethrough, above water. The stuff doesn't hide anything within it

@Mavarik you can get them at craft stores in the floral section, they com in many colors but clear is the only on ethat will dissapear, or you could pull the poleymers out of diapers but they wont be round.

The balls have the same reflective index as water (meaning light travels at the same speed within the balls as within water), so there is no visible distortion.

me and my brother once got these and let them grow overnight. the next morning I told my brother that I couldn't find the balls and was quite upset about it, then we found out about their seeming invisibility.
