14 minutes of full knowledge and real life experience from a real photographer. Its so refreshing to see a rare youtuber talking stuffs that he actually knows - unlike some others who always make a boring title such as "why you shouldn't buy this Iphone", "The Pro Max is not different to the Pro or normal 12" (and proceed with shooting small tree leaves on a bright day, heck even my previous 6s Plus can still shoot a good leaves on a bright day) or even some who always complaining the phone is too big, like the Iphone Plus model never existed! Keep up the good work bro!

Recently came across your channel. There seem to be thousands of reviewers, but I have to say that yours are amongst the best. I use a D850 and D500, but since the 11 and now 12 ProMax , I find that by using my normal computer editing suites and plug-ins, the results I obtain from the iPhone is truely amazing. I;’ve been involved in photography for 70 years and have experienced many changes. Clearly computational photography is a major challenge to purely lens based technology. Honestly, this is by far the best review I’ve seen in regards to what’s better about Apple’s lineup this year. Everyone els is making videos on similarities and regret. Thanks for your great review! Probably the most comprehensive and best one I've seen. I bought this exact phone, the 512GB version, about 6 months ago. And it's been great. I thought about buying the iPhone 13 Pro Max, but decided to skip it and wait for the iPhone 14 Pro Max or 15 Pro Max. But this does everything I need it to do really well. And it was way less expensive to buy. Mine was only about 3 months old, looked absolutely new, and I paid $900 and it included AppleCare+ theft and loss through 6/23. Going to view some of your other videos now. Thanks again. :-)

Wonderful video. I'm guessing RU-vid doesn't accept the HDR in 60fps and if it does it compresses it down to 1080. Am I right?

Amazing review and and B-roll! I would love to see a technical, RAW only comparison between the 12 Pro Max and some of the big sensor, periscope tele-eqipped phones from the likes of Vivo, Oppo, Xiaomi, Honor, Huawei, or Samsung. While computational photography is without a doubt the future, as a hopeless perfectionist, I still find myself shooting expo-bracketed RAW and editing it in post, even if it's a lot of work and takes up 150MB per shot. That's why I'd be really interested in seeing how the iPhone holds up under those conditions.

People tend not to compare iPhones to actual competing phones since they will either lie about the differences or in alot of cases not do enough research on the Android competitors and incorrectly shoot with them. I'm sure ZY isn't like that (long time subscriber here) but also iPhone comparing to phones it will actual lose against doesn't make Apple faithfuls happy and you get them to not come back to your channel so it might not be in his best interest monetarily to do so. But I SO WISH HE DOES!

I wondered if computational photography can make up for using less quality lenses? Also it can probably make up for using smaller lenses on a phone. I used to say you can’t fake the much larger lenses on an SLR camera but I probably won’t be able to tell the pictures apart.

The part about the long exposure shots not being possible on bigger cameras is incorrect, Olympus allows you to do this with their Em1 line of cameras in addition to handheld starry night shots, Live ND for light and water trails and 80mp handheld stitches shots. But the reason most camera Manufacturers don't implement a feature like this is because cameras tend to give you real results rather than computational ones which is why they rather have you do it the tripod or very steady way but with smartphones the clientele are much less meticulous to weird artifacts and computational errors that it passes by them as amazing but in reality pales in comparison to a standard long exposure shots especially when using low ISOs
