The 48 Mp ProRaw outperforms my 24 Mp Pansonic S5 full frame in many situations, the normal 12 Mp would not outperform a patatoe, it looks like 8 Mp ancient full frame Yes the raw are large size, but do one single adjustment, like lighten the shadows +01 and you'll send a 10 Mb jpg file to your Mac, still 48 Mp, which looks like real 24 Mp full frame, not 6 Mp.

Okay, I found the error, you're using a 1,440p large ultra wide screen, you cannot possibly tell the difference between 12 Mp and 48 Mp, as your screen is less than 5 Mp, I might have thought the same when I was on 1,440p ancient Apple screen, now 5k, it is different, very.

Yep. I upgraded from a Nokia 8 to a 12 pro and it was such a huge setback for my landscapes. I thought it was the lens or something but no. What’s even more painful was before I had the Nokia I came from a niche phone by Panasonic called “lumix cm1” which could do that sharp look really really well. Sharp photos can be done… just not the way Apple does it by crushing the blacks around edges a.k.a. micro contrast. In a way it forced me to get a proper camera (or 4 haha).

I don’t own the S22 Ultra any more I’m afraid 🥹

@@BommeltjeNL it does work great in many cases, and in some reviews it did outperform other flagships (at least in video quality, focus separation is essentially on par) but only in some cases such as easily recognizable subjects. It won't beat naturally shallow depth of field from the physics of bigger lenses. In the video you've shared, cinematic mode (specifically focus separation) isn't well demonstrated, and I would argue the shots that it was used were only a few successful ones among many shots where background blur did not look great. iPhones still look the best in most cases for video quality though, as we can see in the video you shared, but not when it comes to live video focus/ bokeh/ blur separation.

I think the biggest upgrade is the cameras. Dynamic island is massively meh. If you don’t need the telephoto lens, go with the standard iPhone.

I noticed strange reflections with brighter objects in darker scenes. Is that what you mean with display problems?

@@BommeltjeNLProbably so, and since you may not know about the burn-in phenomenon, let me tell you. The burn-in (afterimage) phenomenon is a phenomenon in which some of the light emitting elements in the display panel deteriorate and become damaged. The burn-in phenomenon mainly appears in AMOLED displays. The way to check this is to set the brightness of the display to the brightest and display a white background. If the color is uneven or marks are visible, the burn-in phenomenon may be in progress. (English sentences may be strange. I wrote it through Papago.)

Photos are pretty similar, video is better on iPhone
