iPhone DRY ICE Screen Repair!! 'Glass Only'

'Just the Glass' repairs are tempting because they usually cost less than 10 dollars.... Which is just the price of the piece of glass and LOCA glue. THIS PROCESS WILL NOT WORK FOR SAMSUNGS - the glue is different.
Normally when a repair technician attempts a 'glass only' screen repair on an iPhone 4, 5 or 6. They have to use super expensive equipment, OR get a heat gun and try not to burn their fingers while they remove the glass on 200 degree iPhone part.
Luckily you can work with dry ice at the opposite end of the temperature spectrum with the same (if not better) results! Dry ice can remove the glass on your iPhone faster and safer than extreme heat!

thank you. first thing that popped into my head? an 'anti-griddle' for the same effect as the freeze separators. i actually was pondering this with dry ice, and saw this vid. purchasing the glass, the glass/digitizer assy, and trying this first. if i break it, ill have the whole assy to just flat out replace. thank science for sublimation. thank you, JRE. youve got a new subscriber, which you are my first.

Just don't be stupid and respect the material for the danger it poses just like buying propane cylinders. Fire can hurt, too, but we don't ban that.

You joke, but isn't that exactly what they do for some cracked car windshield repairs? They use an optically index-matched resin to penetrate the cracks and draw it into the cracks with a vacuum pump on the other side. I'd imagine surrounding the entire device in a large enough bell jar and sucking out all the air would achieve the same effect.

Bless you! Great video! A few questions: 1. Can this work for ANY phone with a broken screen or only certain types of screens? 2. Can tempered protective glass be used? 3. Can I use latex gloves to protect my hands with the dry ice or will it freeze and crumble? (Sorry if the questions are ignorant, but I have never handled dry ice before).

I tried this too some weeks ago. I does works kinda better with iphone 5 then the iphone 6. to be Honest I broke few lcd while trying this. then I sat down and calculated. if you buy an iPhone 6 screen for 90 usd which is been dust free. and sell the cracked old screen on ebay for about 45usd. you have paid only 45usd for a new screen. that's a lot better then wasting so much time in trying to make a glass repair which takes time and nerve. so I decided not to make a glass only repair. anyways it's an alternative. thanks for the good videos jerry. I always like and enjoying it. keep up the good work

I used a can of compressed air upside down to instantly freeze the glass a frosty white (I used an entire can) but it really really worked well..

I really wish I knew this method before I tried the heat gun method on my S8! It looks a lot easier. And you aren't joking when you mention the egg shell simile. I barely put ANY downward pressure on the screen when trying to remove it with a razor blade and it broke, releasing liquid and rendering the screen useless. Thanks for the video, I will be trying this the next time I have a screen that breaks.

You had better to plug the display while the phone is off and battery not connected to the mobo. Anyway it's a very great solution to remove broken glass from the lcd. nitrogen lcd separator machine are too expensive...have u ever tried this method to remove edged glass?pls let me know.thanks for the video
