@@dejavu666wampas9 You are so right my friend, 72 yr old here and I agree with every word of your comment. Now I know why all Apple folk were always so smug!
The BEST thing I love about his videos is that he has gone over in his mind scenarios that actually happen and then writes his videos based on those scenarios. So many other videos I have seen are all about getting the information out there, without any instruction. I’m a 20 year retired teacher and I can’t tell you how much others think they are teaching by expounding information without considering the understanding of the person they are teaching. Not so with this person!!! He is clear, has considered possibilities and considers the understanding of his audience. For me, he gets more than a “gold star”! This is why I subscribed.
Nice tips. I would like to share that you can also select multiple emails without tapping “edit” by simply swiping up or down on them with a 2-finger swipe.
This is one of the most useful RU-vid videos I’ve ever watched. Sooo helpful. You did an excellent job teaching us these tips which I knew hardly none of them. You have no idea how grateful I am to have heard this. ❤️🎉
By far the best, clearest channel on RU-vid when it comes to explaining Apple. Very concise, comprehensive and, most important of all, best paced! Thanks for not speaking a mile a minute.
You can also select multiple emails using a two-finger on the screen swipe down on the emails in your inbox or other boxes. It automatically slides you into edit mode, selecting the mail messages you swiped over.
Thanks for the useful tips for Apple Mail. I’ve been a long time user of the Gmail app mainly because of the Labels feature which is very convenient to group emails easily. However, lately Gmail app on IOS has become very laggy when scrolling through graphics intensive emails unlike the native mail app which is smooth and responsive. Although Mail supports Gmail labels, the action of “moving” an email to a (label) folder makes it disappear from the inbox view which means you have to check every folder to look for a specific email! Am I missing something in Apple Mail?
8:06 quick select also works by just swiping down or up with two fingers. No "Edit" needed. But thanks for reminding me, I forgot about it in mail. I use it in photos, but there you need to tap "select" and then swipe.
A new subscriber here and just wanted to leave a quick note to say that your presentation and editing is bang on point. 👌 I recognise the effort you’ve put into these videos and you sir are killing it. 👏
Thanks man! 🙌🏻 Only the one upload this week, but the plan is to return to 2 per week from next week moving forward, already working on the new content!
This was a good reminder that I could just set the unread as it’s own option. I had the habit of going to all inboxes-tapping unread, then filtering emails that way, totally adding unnecessary steps!
Telephone numbers -holding phone in one hand and in the other hand a letter with a number you need to ring ask Siri and by quoting the number Siri will dial the number for you. Also you can ask Siri to for example call George home on speaker it does it automatically. “I’m 83”
Thanks for the walk-thru. I like the New Email > Press and hold > Go to Drafts. This saves me so much time now. I also added a few edit options to the main page as well. Thanks!
I've always been comfortable using Gmail and Google Calendar, but the tips that you've shown in these video tutorials are excellent. There's a lot that I didn't know that could be done using Apple Mail & Calendar, which is really helpful to ensuring that I use it more often.
I Love your clarity and showing where/how to find and change things. Immensely useful. But PLEASE slow those directions down a bit. They go by so fast I have to back up half a dozen times to follow and find the process on my own phone. Or else, have a chart at the end of each segment that I could photograph for review. Please!!!
I’m simply in love with the default Mail app… a lot of my friends were frustrated with it as they did not know how to delete emails with swipe gestures and when I showed them, they were in awe for some reason lol
Can you please tell me how to get the mail notifications instantly like in gmail app?. Coz that’s the only issue which I’m fed up with mail app, extremely slower notifications
@@suryakiran4795 I’ve had mixed experiences… sometimes the Mail app is faster and sometimes Gmail. Go to the settings app and in Mail settings play around with Fetch/Push and see what works best for you
Great tips and very helpful but I am wondering how do you scroll thru emails by swiping left or right vice the up and down arrows. Can’t you just swipe to go to next email to read?
Ive watched a few of your videos recently, and they’ve been EXTREMELY helpful! This video put me over the top. Just subscribed! Greetings from The States!
@@ProperHonestTech absolutely. Dropped off the kids @ school, and RU-vid suggested I watch this video. Watched @ 8am (you guys are 6+hours ahead of us, right?😊) Keep them coming sir. Have a blessed day
Thank you very much - this video was super nice to watch! On the point, not too long, understandable (even for me with english as a foreign language). Like + Subscribed :)
Great information! I do have a question if you have time, is there a way to clear specific emails from the mail cache? When replying to emails and you begin typing you get a list of recommended emails, that's what I need to clear. Thanks again.
Some Useful info…. Thanks, some of which I was able to keep up with. (76 and getting older). A question I have however is related to save to Archive ……….. where will I find this ? I’ve looked everywhere within my ability to investigate Mail/ gmail accounts but fail to find this file ,the content of which has mistakenly been directed there instead of deleting which had been my choice. Many thanks for you input.
@Proper Honest Tech, I have a couple of quick questions… 1) Can one use a “Reply To: “ function with the iOS Mail App? If so, can you explain how to use it? 2) If not, do you know of any mail apps that allow this? Thank you, always, for your awesome videos and help!!!
Great videos! One fantastic use for VIP I found was for my Synology NAS’. They have the ability to send you emails when there is a problem or if you want to know that a PC backup has completed. So I created an email account just for that, made it a VIP, and setup notifications on my phone. It’s great way to know how well my NAS’ are doing! 😎
Your videos are great and well worth watching if you only learn one thing. I’m learning a lot more than that! Your teaching style is excellent - allowing for auditory👂 visual 👁 on kinaesthetic 🤚 learners or combinations. I’m a blend of visual and auditory and so I need to see the new information, then pause and do it on my screen. That’s really important to cater for all 3 learning styles. You also speak slowly enough for auditory learners to process it. Your use of circles to highlight is an extra important aid - sorry the teacher in me is showing but so many people don’t have their learning styles met. To find out your learning style google VAK checklist.
I worked in Learning and Development for a variety of large corporates for 13 years prior to having this channel, so I was fortunate to be able to gain a good understanding of the different ways in which people learn. I appreciate the comment though, it's good to know that the additional effort I put into the videos is noticed and appreciated.
I just can’t warm up to Apple mail… I always default to Gmail, that automates so much sorting and labelling, etc. The only thing Apple mail does better than Gmail, imo, is how it deals with image attachments, offering the different file sizes. OK now I’m going to watch your video and see if my opinion changes.
Excellent ThankYou! These are very useful tips. And most of all Very easy to follow. If you have some video on Mac air tips please do share. Much thanks and appreciate.
i just wish my mail app got notifications better. Most of the time i have to open up for it to update and i never get banner notifications even with the right settings. Over background fetch seems bad and never reliable.
Thanks, as always. Despite the various mail apps available, and I have tried a number of them, the Apple native app works as well or better, and has a simple UI. Of your tips, I get the most important use from the Smartboxes. Negatives? Just one, for me. The Search engine is neither intuitive nor works well. It could use a redesign.
I'm curious what mail app you actually use (or different for various platforms?). I want to use the stock app, I actually like how it looks a lot, but I feel like I have to think too much about it--whereas with Spark I can mindlessly deal with anything and I feel so organized. What do you most recommend?
Thanks for the tips. One thing I wish I could do is disable the immediate trashing of a message when I swipe left too aggressively. I wish it would give the Trash option (along with Flag) but not actually trash the message without an additional tap. Too often I have to go into trash and move a message back to the inbox.
Yeah, I've done that also. Not sure if you're aware, but if you do this again in the future, give your phone a little shake (doesn't have to be too aggressive, but like you're shaking a bottle of sauce before opening it for example) - this acts as 'undo' on your iPhone, and your phone should immediately restore the message you just accidentally deleted (sounds silly I know but give it a try).
Hi, thank you so much for your videos. They are ever so informative and so packed with incredibly useful information. I love the Mail app and I wanted to ask one thing… Is there an ‘Out of Office’ option/function that can be used? I’m sure there is one but I haven’t discovered it yet. Keep up the fantastic work with your excellent videos. 😊
Great video. Question please: I’m using iMac and iPhone under the same Apple ID. Lately deleted lots of emails. The problem is that the iCloud Mail storage still full and the mail app both in my iMac and iPhone is low as it should be. I’m using iCloud drive and can’t find where is the deleted Mail data to permanently delete. Thanks
How do you stop the mail you want from going into the junk box? I keep telling it not junk, moving it to the In box. This works maybe once and then it’s back to the junk box. Very frustrating. 🙄
