Love your videos. Your personal, comedic style is very enjoyable. Now, a question; isn’t there a concern that low-melt solder will be too brittle and cause a cracked solder joint? I believe that I heard you state you were re-installing the cap with low-melt.
@ststele
@ststele 7 месяцев назад
Good morning! I appreciate the compliments 🙏. The low melt I used here isn't too brittle for this sort of work but I definitely wouldn't use it to solder connectors or anything that needs to hold up to a lot of stress. This is the solder Apple uses to join boards together from iPhone 10 to 11. Now the lowest of the low melt solders is so brittle that it can break just from looking at it wrong lol! I wouldnt use that stuff for any useful work other than removing components!
@fredmalito9869
@fredmalito9869 7 месяцев назад
@@ststele Understood. Thank you for the clarification. I was curious as to why you kept mentioning that it was 180°. I was not aware there were different specifications of low-melt solder.

curious - with such a small simple component, wouldn't it be easier to just use the solder pencil on top of the capacitor component instead of the hot air (chance of heating the side components and/or blowing the near components away with the air? I don't have any hot air or smd component usage experience (and from the looks of things - don't want to), so I'm interested in your thinking on the choice of heating device for this.

@ststele
@ststele 7 месяцев назад
I would hope this is something with the image power circuit still. Maybe something that isn't detectable at the connector in diode mode though such as, C5600 (CHESTNUT_CN) or possibly something going on with the CHESTNUT_LX coil. If diode mode readings are good, it may be necessary to get the board powered up with a display connected (very important) and then check the voltages going to the connector - mainly the 5v7 lines. Hopefully this helps!
