I also have a charging "issue" with my 5.5th Gen 80 GB I modded with iFlash Quad (it now has 1 TB capacity) and larger 3000 mAh battery, when the battery is drained it won't boot up of course but when connected to USB it kinda bootloops because the USB delivers insufficient power (haven't tried to leave it just connected for over an hour, some devices do trickle charging then before they're booting up). The solution is to connect it with the FireWire and USB to Dock Connector cable I have, also got a cheapo noname Power Supply that says 8-12V DC output and my JBL OnStage 200iD. FireWire can deliver up to 30V and it literally jump starts iPods with drained batteries while USB at that time only had 5 Volts (Power Delivery was first specified in 2012 however it needed a few years onwards and introduction of USB-C).

Hi ! Thank you for your detailed comment. Yes, I also noticed that the firewire mains charger is more efficient and allows the battery to be better recharged. I have a more recent USB mains charger, is the efficiency the same? I'll check it out my friend 😉

Still charging like New even after all these years... Charging at 2.2 Watts, music is great. Plug in a new Bluetooth transmitter & the ipods are better than most new equipment today. It's a shame Steve Jobs died and Tim Cook has run Apple into the ground, with no innovation & his failure to update & improve the iPods, which could be so much more powerful now : with 4K projectors built in, & still be the center of music, documents, audio & video.

oh yes ... i agree with you. Im a fan of the old school. I like iPods and even today they work perfectly and you can adapte and mod them. I think it's a beautiful invention. Follow me my friend ;)

I have the iPod classic 160gb, when I plug it in it says charging please wait, but doesn't do anything after that. DO you think I might need to replace the battery? I love it so much and would like to see what movies and music I have on there
