@@emankcin1701 xfactor is not. A top 10 at best and I like the album. Some great songs but a ton of fillers. As for bars, dude I saw them in Paris in a 500-1000pax venue...that's the same as the killer tour... even less
@@DownMemoryLaneParis Yeah, but majority of the tour they were still playing like 3000-8000 capacity venues which were packed. Not terrible, not great. South America was the only place with 80s success remaining, where I think they played sold out stadiums.
Ripper Owens is a great vocalist ... I don't know if he is one of the best in my taste ... But he is very good ... and from what I see, he is without problems at the level of Halford ... Unlike Blaze that he was somewhat below Bruce Dickinson ... The bad thing is that Halford is too egocentric to play songs from the Owens era
yeah i have no idea why halford doesn't. i know why ozzy never did dio-sabbath stuff , (because he didn't like dio because ozzy had a bad spilt when he left sabbath). but makes no since for halford to not give the ripper stuff a go.
Bruce has always done a fantastic job singing songs recorded by other Maiden singers. He owns them like they were written for him. Few singers will do that.
First time I've ever heard Bruce sing this, and even though he's better overall, nobody can sing the X Factor and Virtual XI tracks as good as Blaze did, of course that's just my opinion.
Benjamin Hopkins I think Bruce mostly songs the Virtual XI songs better, that album kinda fits him more stylistically with all the upbeat songs and such (his version of The Clansman from Rock In Rio is fucking legendary) but The X-Factor is 100% written for Blaze.

Not speaking on the vocals (a tired argument), but this to me is the definitive version of this song. The live instrumentals are way better than what was on the album. The drums hit so much harder. Fantastic job, whoever mixed this. For being live, it sounds so damn good. Always preferred it over the studio version.
It's the speed of the song when played live, more than anything. Blaze's live performances of this song, on the good bootlegs, is better. Love Bruce, but this is a Blaze song.
Iron Maiden easily one of the most legendary and amazing bands live. One of the few bands who consistently put out live recordings that were legitimately better than their studio versions.
Bruce even said "Blaze Bayley is a personal friend of ours" when he called out an interviewer who tried to airbrush the X Factor and Virtual XI out of existence.
This video was given away as a bonus enhanced video on one of the CD Singles for The Wicker Man. I am guessing Iron Maiden own the rights to all that live content. I bought all the singles on CD back then and loved the bonus content. I remember being absolutely shocked beyond words when I saw this video of Bruce singing this Blaze-era song, he did it so perfectly.
@@maxdurk4624 Maybe not every tour, I noticed A Matter Of Life And Death didn't have one and that's an amazing album but I'm with Kea on this one, would've been awesome to see an official release for this tour in particular as it was celebrating the reunion

One thing I respect Bruce for is singing songs that are not originally his. Many classic metal singers are divas about this. Ozzy will never sing Dio songs.
This is definitely Blaze's song but the recording of this is so much better, as somebody said this is better than the studio version, much more vividly recorded, fantastic!

Because for 95% of the people all that matters is the singer. That's what most people listen to, the combination of great music and a great singer. If you have cool music and a singer like Blaze then people can't accept it. Blaze is cool but not for Maiden.

I love the fact that Iron Maiden didn't erase Blaze Bayley's era and keep performing those songs. unlike Judas Priest, they keep saying "why not" but never perform any songs of Jugulator or Demolition as if Tim was never with them...
I guess they've gotten so used to their usual setlists, or past successes that they just happen to overlook that era, even despite opening up more about those two albums in recent years. I'm also aware that Glenn Tipton and especially Ian Hill has been acting kind of prickish against K.K. and been constantly denying his wishes about coming back to the band. Like, come on, man! The dude's your childhood pal, and besides, did you also say the same things when Rob came back in the band in 2004!? 🤦♂️
X-factor and, especially, Virtual 11 were good albums with a few really great songs songs. The big headache was Blaze's voice I feel, because he did not fit into Maidenat all. If these albums had been with Bruce, they would have sold a lot more. Bruce is the best, he proof so here, and also on Sign Of The Cross. When he sings one of the Blaze-songs, they automatically gains 50% in greatness.
furthermore bruce was succeful with hes solo carreer he was just with adrian and roy z excelent guitarists together they were awsome my favorites albums of bruce are "accident of birth" and "chemical wedding" paul dianno was good as well on his days with maiden no one can take from him the great songs with maiden and thanks to bruce adrian smith was back to maiden as bruce said i couldnt come back to maiden without adrian
albert fish Sorry Albert, taste is taste, and if you like Blaze, I respect that....but saying that he is a great singer, and better than Bruce...omg! Blaze has no range, and he only has like one octave to use. Also, he is one of the worst live-singer ever, and he has almost zero control of his voice. I study music, so I can't help paying notice to these things. I've tried to listen to Blaze' solostuff, and give him a fair chance, but he sings out of tune all the time.....i'l never dig his voice :/
Personally, I think Blaze fitted Maiden darker songs like the edge of darkness in the late 90's. That being said, he didn't sing songs like trooper and the evil that men do las well as the almighty Bruce.
Too many people hate on Blaze. He did his best and the rest of the band clearly thought he was worthy to play with them as they had him for two albums before they sacked him
i agree on man on the edge and phantom of the opera but imo he NAILS futureal, the clansman and sign of the cross (specially that last one omg his version is orgasmic)
It is a brilliant album in its own right. Honestly though I think Virtual XI would sound fucking awesome with Bruce as the vocals, nothing against Blaze, but I think the more upbeat, kind of jumpy tone of Virtual XI is more Bruce's forte. Blaze was fucking BRILLIANT on the X-Factor though. (Although my favorite version of Sign of the Cross is still Rock in Rio 2001 with Bruce xD)
yes,this song its from the album Virtual XI,but this live version its from eddie's archives:best of b sides and this video its filmed during the ed hunter tour in 1999,and yes the voice of Blaze its better for this song

Blaze is a good singer to me, even if Bruce is and will always be my favourite. The problem with Virtual XI was uninspired songwriting (only with few songs, cause there are great songs too in the album). The X Factor is good in my opinion
The problem with the singers of Iron Maiden is that one singing the music of the other does not get the same vibe and energy, and that is good because that shows the power of every one of them.
