First time i hear this song, i was 11 years old. Now my daughter is 11, and she have this song ringtone in her phone... We love this! (Sorry my bad english)
These guys are so Damn Bad-Ass live!! One of my top 3 best live bands to see. I saw them as (U ready for this) as the "warm-up band" for AC/DC. A 3 band lineup w/ Accept opening, then Iron Maiden (doing Piece of Mind Tour, if I'm not mistaken) and then finally AC/DC. It was at an outdoor venue called Alpine Valley Music Theatre in Alpine Valley, Wisconsin. Same place Stevie Ray Vaughn crash & died at. I was at that show also. What memories!!
I just dawned on me that this is about The Charge of the Light Brigade in the Crimean War. I'm reading Sevastopol by Tolstoy right now, pure coincidence brought me here. Spoooooooky! \m/
That's exactly how I was in school... So in senior year I bought the biggest fucking speakers I could carry with me and blasted my music everywhere I went. When the teacher told me to turn it off I turned on some classical Oprah music, shit was priceless.
simply amazing.....groundbreaking....original.....no one comes even close to what Maiden has done...oh for immortality so i could listen to them and they could play forever...
The 80's are gone but not forgotten, a new age of music has dawned upon us. Rap, hip hop, pop, and screamo. They only owned a little bit of the music world for a while, but lately they've been taking more than their share. Brothers! Sisters! We shall stand up as one. We will fight them with metal or die trying. We will take back what is rightfully ours. Hold your axes high! Hold your drum sticks high! And whip that michrophone into the air. Death to all but Metal!
Leonardo Messia haha agreed, ok the lyrics go with the basic elements of Battlefield 1 but you're not fighting the Russians and in a complete different era like you said.
man this song was used in world war z to attract hordes of zombies and to pump up soldiers in taking the offensive...hope they put that scene on the movie
Whats with people saying their age and putting idiotic comments up, just stfu and listen to this masterpiece Iron Maiden blessed us with. UP THE IRONS!!!
This song is based on the poem Charge of the Light Brigade written by Alfred Lord Tennyson. The Charge of the Light Brigade was a charge of British light cavalry led by Lord Cardigan against Russian forces during the Battle of Balaclava on 25 October 1854 in the Crimean War.
I hate how all songs nowadays have auto tunes, techno, ect. I love how it used to work when it was bands who used real voices and real instruments. This is one of those songs with real stuff =)
Its inspired by a poem called "The Charge of the Light Brigade." Supposedly, its the viewpoint of a fallen solider in the midst of the battle that takes place
