I can't believe how close this sounds to the first studio album track. Even Janick kept it close to Dennis Stratton's solo. Super tight performance by all!
@@rockervolt9177 I rewatched it last night. I listened to the original album recording. I think I was so caught in the rush of the moment of hearing this iteration, how good the mix was, etc. that I wasn't concentrating too much on the solo. I don't recall hearing or seeing Transylvania with Nicko on drums before. I haven't been impressed with Janick on Adrian's solos. My toddler's crying; I cant recall name of guitarist that Adrian replaced. I mostly play bass when I play, but some rhythm guitar here or there. I'm not the most technical player. 🙂
Janick literally bullshitted that whole solo, terrible! sounded like someone that doesnt know how to play pretending by moving their hands randomly lol. I am also a guitarist* i play this song quite a bit
@@BL-cc1vm thanks for the reminder. I couldn't think of Dennis name at the time. Adrian's been my favorite Iron for decades. Fan since '83. Up the Irons!
Gotta love Dave Murray, he is so damn happy playing all the time, after almost 40 yrs, its great to see, Steve too obviously, but Dave is never not smiling.
Yes Janick sounds messy, his take on the old solos are all over the place - but man is he an amazing song writer and great seeing live. His energy just adds to the feel and take on the songs and makes the shows that much better
People complain about anything. I don’t like most of _anything_ played live by Dennis, Paul or Clive - in that order - if they weren’t performing it themselves. Partly purism reasons, but just overall sound. Iron Maiden, Prowler and a few others just sound weird when Adrian plays them. This song specifically is naturally a bit jumpy. I liked this What year is this? Looks like it could be as early as 1990 or so? After Adrian and before the return… They both look so young here. Janick looks like Skeletor these days. Maiden wouldn’t have been Maiden without Dennis as much as Adrian, even if did work out for the best. Sign of the Cross, Futureal, Fear of the Dark - those are all Janick’s even if they’re not (I’ve not seen those live so I don’t know who does those solos live). As far as I have ever found Janick, he brings enough to make up for what he might ‘ruin’ to a different person.
phillip eskridge This is the first song I just looked up, from iron maiden just to learn a song on bass haha. I fully agree, his bass lines are pretty key
I absolutely love how much they love playing their music. 2 minutes to midnight on TV in 1984 and fell in love with them right then. 2022, still bloody awesome! Up the irons!
Just simply superb, every single member.. That bass is thick and humming as well, drums are crisp with rhythm and lead guitar spectacular.. Magnificent.
I hope you get to live that dream! When I got into Maiden in high school, I used to lay in bed listening to Rock In Rio, fantasizing the impossible dream of seeing them live... I've had the extreme pleasure of having done so five times since then.
Balalaika74 That's why I wasn't kidding ;). The guys who only play instrumental, such as Satriani or Malmsteen, for instance, may come up with some better tunes. However, I was talking about instrumental songs from metal bands who have a singer (Megadeth's "Dialectic Chaos", for example, is quite near but it's way too short). Maiden also contributed with "Genghis Kahn" and "Losfer Words" (Big 'Orra) which are great instrumental tunes as well but Transylvania is Transylvania...
A perfect example of why Maiden rules.....the thrill, punch and raw edge only Maiden brings on stage....just look at them, so happy, free and relaxed while playing a brilliant instrumental number.....that´s why Maiden are the best, always have and always will....
In 1980 I was 7 years old when I bought my first Iron Maiden record. Then I crossed the street and I bought a scale model airplane. and once I got home the fun begun. Thanks mom!!!
Hate Janick all you want but look at the chemistry and happiness Dave and Janick have playing together, i’ve never seen Dave and Adrian have that chemistry.
Brings Back Alot of ,,GREAT ,MEMORIES ,, THE EARLY DAYS WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAVE ,ERA ,ESP THE FIRST 2 ALBUMS , ROUGH EDGE WHEN THEY WERE REALLY JUST GETTING STARTED ,BUT THE FACT NICKO PLAYS THIS WELL DOES NOT OVERDUE IT ,,CLIVE BURR DID GREAT JOB ON THESE EARLY SONGS ,,
wow! what a coincidence, I also come from Transylvania! Oh! No! Hang on! NOT Transylvania, from Nottingham! They sound so similar, I'm always mixing them up!
What a f ... great instrumental song and it because STEVE HARRIS IS PLAYING BASS what a great song, each time i listen this song in my car my feet put the pedal to the metal and i never see i cops for now!!!!!!
