IR's are just singular, snapshot sound captures of a particular setup. That's the problem, where the sound becomes annoying and after a period of time causes listening fatigue.
What an erroneous point. You obviously do not fully understand IRs. And what is meant by this: "that's the problem, where the sound becomes annoying and after a period of time causes listening fatigue." By your criteria, listening fatigue sets in when only 1 sound is heard for an extended period of time. Really? So, we all experience "listening fatigue" w/our MESA 2x12s, or Marshall 4x12s, or Egnater 1x12s or whatever custom cabs & high dollar speakers we've loaded into them, right? Or are you saying only IMPULSE RESPONSES cause listening fatigue?
So, go and grab a huge pile of IRs and when you get listening fatigue from one IR, use another one. But how is that different from tweaking your EQ pedal or choosing a different amp model, or switching to the middle position of your pickup selector and turning the tone knob? ;P
I personally use the HX Stomp daily and I think the helix amp and cab sims are great! The best think about all multi-Fx processors nowadays though is that you can upload your own IRs to any of them. So for that reason, they’re all pretty equal in terms of IRs. :)
Yep, pretty much. It depends on which IR loader you’re using though. Some allow you to eq and blend between multiple Irs and add effects like reverb. But you’ve definitely got it. 👍🏻
Very good explanation, however... While you seem to be a great guitar player, I get the feeling that you're wasting a lot of my time by playing so much. I didn't come here to listen to your playing but to understand the difference between ir and cab sims. Why I bother writing this? Not to put you down, the contrary - your video is very good and it's a pity you don't get as much views/likes as you could. I would recommend concentrating on what matters, which here, is not your playing or telling us about the mistakes you make.
Sevelos, take your bloody corsets off, he hasnt made this video for librarians or laboratory technicians, I really dont think he needs your cringe worthy pity
@@gilldanier4129 this is a video on a very specific topic, it is not positioned for entertainment or music. If you have a look at information videos online, you'll notice that the great majority of them, and definitely the more popular ones, concentrate on the subject of the video - this is why people watch them. I didn't pity him, he seems a very nice guy who knows what he's talking about. I felt pity about the video - it has 65 likes (one from me) and 7 dislikes, which is really not a good ratio. I gave him an advice. He can take it or leave it. I'm sure he doesn't need you to protect him from me :)
