People that think that a 36mm watch is too small or not "manly" enough are obviously the average Hublot customer that know absolutely nothing about fine watches
Why do you wear a solid gold watch if you don't want anyone to notice it? Why are guys so afraid of someone noticing their watch? If you don't want anyone to notice your watch...wear a $50 Timex.
That is true .. like gold watches should be as small as a lange 37 ... thin and tiny ... it’s just classy that way ... however I Bevelive in having a collection and I would say there is a place for he hulk and the date just 41 two tone and Cellini rose gold silver dial dual time ... one being completely dressy for a wedding or a big formal event ... date just 41 two tone with diamonds is when you wanna go out clubbing or have fun at some less formal event where you might bang the watch ... and of course the hulk for and everyday use.
I agree with you man, 36mm is classy. With the release of the Black Bay 36 and how well it did, it just shows that 36mm should be a contender for a dress watch for anyone's collection.
36 is perfect expecially with having a 7 inch wrist. I just purchased a 36 mm day date with the original diamond band and matching bracelet just like Pacs set on all eyes on me cover. I replaced the dial with a.blue meteorite dial with diamond markers. I can't wait.
Beautiful collection. The day-date looks great on your wrist. I personally prefer 36mm Day-date and Datejust. Every time I’m seeing someone wearing 41mm it’s hard not to look at them. I remember one gentleman worked at DMV wearing 41mm Datejust. The watch was visible across the room. The watch community might be small, but people who understands the real value of the watch is more than you can imagine.
I have a brand new DJ 41 that never gets worn because of my 36mm. I have a 7” wrist with big forearms. Just love my 36mm 16234 WG fluted bezel. Nice video! 😎👍
This is the perfect size for me and my wrist is 6.5 inches. I tried the 41mm on and it just screamed "Look at me!" and like the watch was wearing me vs vice versa. In another realm I felt the same way about the old Cartier Santos Galbee vs the Santos 100.
I have a 6.25 - 6.5 inch wrist and I have a Rolex Submariner Date which is 40 mm. I was thinking that the non-diver watch should be smaller than the diver. I was debating whether or not the 36 mm was too small. If 36 mm isn't for my small wrist than who is it for? You have an even bigger wrist than I do and you say 36 mm for you than it must be good for me. I was thinking about getting the blue dial.
Agreed 36mm is pure class and hope it makes a popular come back. I own a stainless steel Sub with super case but just recently got a 36mm Oyster Perpetual Blue dial 3 6 9 and love it as much as my Sub
Excellent video. My wrists are the same size and I'm worried the 36 is too small but it looks fantastic on you. I have a Speedy Pro which fits me well so looking at a DJ to be the dressier option. Well done.
I have an 8 inch wrist so the larger sizes don’t bother me and I’ve owned up to 42. However I find with the larger ones the crown digs into my hand and because I’m only 5.8” they look too big on me. This rather than wrist size it seems to me is the deciding factor and I’ve gone back to 36. Great vintage bargains at that size as well.
I agree. If you have a 7 inch or smaller wrist then 36mm will look much better than a larger one. Remember the watch has to compliment your wrist not the other way round.
Thanks for your support /input -thinking about buying a ROLEX DAY-DATE 18238 or 18038-of not then, I will buy a 2 TONE SUBMARINER 2017-18 I’m still undecided -
I have a muscular physique with 18 - 19 inch biceps but have small joints, especially for a guy of my size so not everyone with small wrists necessarily have skinny arms/body. However, with my wrist size being approx 6.5 inches, the 36mm fits me perfectly even though my forearm gets very thick almost 2 inches higher than the positioning of my timepiece.
Having 7 inch wrist I can wear 36 to 42 mm watches. But my favourite is 36 mm datejust which my father gave me a graduation gift. Under stated piece that looks elegant and super comfortable to wear. Over sized watches are for posers.
I own a 36mm steel rolex Datejust. I think people take wrist size too much into account and not overall proportion. I have tiny 7 inch wrists but I work out so my upper arms are disproportionately much larger. In this situation, a 36mm DJ just looks way too small and accentuates my tiny wrists whereas a 41mm DJ give my proportions some balance. The 41mm DJ also runs a bit smaller so you're not really sacrificing the subtlety of a 36mm and you can still fit it underneath your cuff.
Yes agree, I work out too I have 7 inch wrist and is 5’10 feet tall quite average fella but when comes to 41mm it fit since the size of my arms but my wrist not really I hope rolex makes a 39mm😂
i have same 6.75inch wrist like you too. but i prefer to wear it abit loose. so i size my watch around 7inch or 7.25inch . i just bought a 34mm half gold 2 tone rolex 15053 with black dial and gold bezel.... since 34 and 36mm rolexes are virtually indistinguishable when ON THE WRIST . the 34mm rolex looks fine on my wrist. just need to get used to it ... the lug to lug is about 42mm and my wrist is about 56mm wide (view from top) ... so lug to lug size is around 70% of the wrist width. which is how classic men size suppose to wear ... especially NOT consider those modern day watches which are all inspired by TOOL watches from seiko or rolex or omega etc... or those german Pilot watches ....meant to be worn by divers, deep sea explorers or astronauts and pilots and hence need BIGGEST possible DIAL and case sizes.
So true can relate as I'm in mid 40s. Slowly taste for classic size is growing on me. The 41-42 are now looking more like a clock on wrist. I have 6.7 inch/170mm
I have vintage and modern Rolex and Omega. Sizes from 35-41mm. My perfect size and watch is my 36mm Rolex Explorer. Love it. Classic watch in a classic size.
Less is more . Don’t wanna be looking like a nba rookie burning through his contract money , 36 ml 2 tone date just is fire 🔥 . And it’s not just cause that’s what I have lol
The DJ is my grail. I bought the 116234 with silver dial on jubilee. I had a hard time deciding between TT with champagne dial but I dont know if that would have worked as a daily wear.
that is exactly the watch I wanna get as my first Rolex. Congrats man... I am still thinking about getting a 16234 instead because I could get one from my birthyear which would be nice aswell. But I love the super jubilee :)
I have an 8” wrist, and my 36mm Datejust looks tiny on it. However I will never get rid of it. It is by far the best watch I have ever owned, even after 30+ years it is accurate, it gains only 2 or 3 seconds a day. Love it. A far better watch than my Breitling Colt 44, which is only 3 years old, and has never been close to the accuracy of the Rolex.
I have Breitling Colt 41 and and DateJust 36, too. Both are perfect sizes on my 6.25" wrist. Colt 41 gain 6 seconds per day while DateJust gets 0.5 sec per day.
Andy Myungjin Chae yes, mine is usually that close, and the Breitling is about 6-7 seconds fast a day. Glad you like your Datejust, I will never sell mine.
I agree when I bought my Datejust 41 I considered the 36 but couldn’t get it over my hand. I also have 8-8 1/4” wrist. The dealer gave me a extra link with the 41 just in case.
@@javery50 I had to add a couple of links over the years on my Datejust. Still the best watch I have. If the Breitling Colt was more accurate I would be happier with it, but still the Datejust is better.
Ezra S it just looks great on the DJ, my personnel opinion. I have tried several different bracelets and a leather strap, and the Jubilee kills them all.
36mm Datejust gold and stainless great for Women nowadays, bought one for my wife and she loves it. No offense to any man using a 36mm watch, it is just that watch size wearing is going up, man with 40 to 44mm and women going all the way up to 36mm. fashion I guess
Except if you’re a real guy - a man comfortable with his sexuality - you don’t need a 41mm watch to “prove” you’re a man. Unless, of course, you have a small dick. Then, I suppose, the larger watch could help compensate. It’s a lot like horsepower: the bigger the engine, the smaller the penis. Duh.
Whoever believes that 36mm is not manly must be quite fuc*ed in their minds and obviously compensate for something else that must be particularly small. 1. 36mm is the "classic" size. 2. It totally depends on the wrist size. That is why this year they introduced the 31mm Datejust. Bro, 36mm looks incredibly beautiful and classy on your wrist!
36mm for the win because it’s Rolex Vintage . That’s all there is too it and that is why people are starting to loop back to them. I have a 41mm as well and the 36mm is classic and more elegant. Everyone gets caught up wanting 41mm cause you see that stuff on TV with larger blinged out sport models on actors or maybe they drive oversized 4x4 trucks. We all know that story . 😂
Personality I think alot of rolex are way small and I prefer 38mm to 44mm. I don't want to wear something that looks like my wife could wear it to. I workout a bit so I don't have skinny lil arms or wrists. For the money,I need options.
36mm is a really good size, my 36mm datejust is more comfortable than my Submariner. And it is also fun to compare an old 36mm vs a new one that wears much bigger.
M serial half gold 36mm is the best especially the computer screen design with diamond.......did u observe, the gold and diamond watches are becoming very very expensive irrespective of the year of production
It really all depends on factors like how wide is your wrist .... how bling bling do you want it ... are you a businessman in some third world country or a politician that shouldn’t represent the tax payers wasted money ... a 36 mm date just is perfect if you don’t want the watch to be noticed ... if you need to ... be it getting attention From girls or whatever then I would say 41 two twine yellow gold black dial with diamonds ... the diamonds will just pop on the black dial and a lot of shine will come from the yellow gold and the fluted bezel ... so you can really go anyway with it even sporty - 36 oyster bracelet smooth bezel ...
The whole oversized watch fad got ridiculous. People with 6-6.25” wrist asking on the forums all the time, “does this 42mm look too big on me?” Many wearing the DJ2 or 41 that should be wearing a 36mm. Even 6.75 is borderline for the 41
