Like him making 135 to fight non championship material is not even close to him having to fight someone as prolific as DJ. Aldo got GASSED in BOTH Holloway fights at 145, so no chance he would be able to compete well against DJ at 35

I think it would be badass 💪 I also appreciate you breaking these fights down and sharing your experience with us. It looks easy to apply a lot of the things you speak about but is much harder when you are moving in real time and have someone in front of you.

yeah would have loved to see it. Cruz even looked good in his last fight. Its just that cruz is breaking all of his bones when getting out of bed every morning. He isnt healthy enough to fight at that level anymore and aldos legkicks and TDD makes him a nightmare match up

Aldo is well past his prime but still competing with some of the UFC’s best with 35+ pro fights. I think it’s fairly obvious he came out of retirement to fulfill his final fight under his UFC contract and because 301 is in Rio 🇧🇷 + the card needed star power.

It's a total mystery to me why Aldo abandoned the leg kicks in the first Max fight and has only gone back to them very sporadically. Dede said he had an injury but only him and Aldo know the real reasons. Hope he goes back to them vs Martinez.

His ground game was always used as a defense because he always had a bad gas tank especially after iv were no longer allowed to. What u think

Aldo has turned into a defence first kind of fighter. And he's very good at that he slows down the fight to his pace like Mayweather did in boxing. I think he just needs to up his offensive output just a bit to make this style effective.

He beat Chito, Font and Munoz before losing to Merab who went 0-16 on takedowns and literally did nothing but hold him against the fence for 15 minutes. That was two years ago, he's also had a boxing match inbetween. If Aldo is on, he can definitely take a dub here. People saying he's washed clearly have not been paying attention.

Expect the counter bait him to throw parry or duck it and then put pressure on him and cut off the angles so he cant get his distance back. But if that works depends on the skill level of you and your oponent. If he is already way better than you that wont work and you just eat more shots then when you didnt get in his space.

No offense, but I believe other fighters often have the worst opinions on whether or not a fighter is at the end of their rope, or not... the mutual respect of working in same or similar environments and profession create a bias and inability to separate "fighting" from "entertainment".
