Dear Tim, I am in such anguish over the level of deception I see within churches today regarding Israel. I was steeped in dispensationalism growing up. Little did I know that it was so much more than a superficial debate about differences over end-times timelines. It goes to the very heart and soul of who Christ is and what He came to do! It just saddens me so much to see so many people failing to understand how Jesus fulfills God's promise to Abraham and that somehow we are, as you say, step-children. For years I got stuck in Revelation and debates, when the true heart of the matter is foundational to our faith. If God has unfinished business with the Jews then the Son and the Father aren't one, and how blasphemous a thought that is! If ethnic Israel is somehow entitled to a different inheritance or more of an inheritance than we Gentiles in Christ (which the parable of the workers in the vineyard clearly repudiates)...then Christ is less than God...less than worthy "to take the scroll." Do people not realize how this dispensationalism...or as I call it, Dispen-sen-sationalism...is actually against Christ...is actually ANTI-Christ? Isn't that what it is? Because to appeal to Abraham as justification for God's promises is to put him in place of Christ. It displaces Christ off of His rightful throne. Does it not?
I beg to differ. John and Paul are not at odds with one another, for they are both inspired by God. We know God does not contradict Himself, and God’s word does not contradict itself. The problem is not in their words but in man’s reading into the text things they want to see there.
Sure, some prophesies of the first coming were metaphors but plenty others were not. That he would be born to a virgin, that he would be pierced and bruised, ie. And yes, many dismissed the event because they didn’t know the scriptures... and then there were the wisemen. So, I think we all need to humbly realize we don’t know exactly how it will look. But also don’t ridicule theories that you don’t like. Be brotherly and give grace. The Left Behind movies? They brought thousands to salvation and that, by the way, hastens the Lord’s return! I don’t think the eschatology was flawless but I didn’t think yours was either - and I’m sure mine needs correcting too. The point is, Christ is returning and we need him. We will see some things manifest metaphorically and some literally... The ‘Rapture Watchers’ with their Apocalypse Maps? It may be a little presumptuous but at least these are those who love his appearing! We’re all brothers.

Also you named three viewpoints as replacement theology. Post-trib is definitely NOT Replacement theology. Post millennial: probably yes. A-millennial, idk I’d have to think about it. Maybe? And I’m not sure what your trouble is with “all denominations”. Be careful though. When people are all-doctrine, no-love, they end up having long pointing fingers. I hope this is not you. Do I know of a metaphorical prophecy that was not fulfilled? Yes, but only those that have to do with the very end of the ages, that have not come to pass yet. “Destruction will come on them suddenly as labor pains on a pregnant woman” might not be the literal pains of childbirth, for example. References to day and night, dark and light at the time of his coming: these are also metaphors.
It could be a call to simply be in a state of awareness or attention. Which from a ying yan pov sounds like the opposite of "just waiting, beholding, reflecting/observing". focus and "reflection" being opposites of one another but both activities of the human mind.
So thankful for you Tim that you have such a good grasp on Scripture and the Holy Spirit has lead you in perceiving and understanding of the WORD. The Dispensations are so dangerous...I have many friends Rapture Weary on High Watch to low to no watch a roller coaster of emotion and when a skirmish breaks out they are convinced the Rapture will be any moment and I know many who will not go into the Revelation past Chapter 3 because they are told they will not be here for the Tribulation.

If the man of lawlessness is more figurative, then how does the second half of Daniel 9 fit in, the ruler who makes a treaty and sets up a sacrilegious object that causes desecration? I mean, on one hand I agree with you. 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 describes the church as the new temple, so I do tend to think it’s the church and not an actual temple that’s being referred to in end times scripture. And certainly a mosque at the holy site of Jerusalem would be an object of desecration. There are SO many ways to look at this, and like you said, everyone has a differing opinion. I think truly we are not meant to know this mystery with definite understanding, because having a sure explanation would give us a timeline and take away faith and eager waiting for the Day of the Lord. Then there would be no need for the parable of the servants with the master away, or the ten virgins. Jesus tells us to keep watch, because we don’t know when he’s going to return. He wouldn’t say that if some of us would eventually figure it out. All we know (like you said) is that it’s imminent, and as we can interpret the budding leaves of a fig tree that summer is near, we can interpret the signs that his return is near.

I take that as a sign that we are living in the final moments before the rapture/event! I am watching and expecting for the rapture/event to happen tonight (June 19th) during Pentecost on the Hebrew/Torah calendars (June 18th-20th) (1 month added) and before summer starts on June 20th. Multiple scriptures in the bible support a springtime rapture including: Matthew 24:32 - "Now learn this parable from the Fig tree, when its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near". If we are still here past the summer solstice on June 20th then I will be watching and expecting for the rapture/event to happen during Pentecost on the Gregorian calendar (1 month added) on June 23rd/24th and the during the next and last full super moon of 2021 (Honeymoon) June 24th 2021. About 4000 rockets were fired at Israel from May 9th until May 21st 2021 when the enacted a unilateral truce between Israel and the Palestinians. They are now proclaiming "Peace and safety", in 1:Thessalonians 5:3 it says "For when they shall say, peace and safety, the sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child, and they shall not escape". I believe it may be a 10 - 40 day delay/grace period. I really can't see us being here past June 2021, firstly because the U.S.A home eviction notices will expire in the end of June and 25 - 40 million Americans will be homeless because they are unable to pay rent since the beginning of the pandemic last year, and secondly because the U.S.A pentagon will be releasing all of their alien/ufo documents to the public on June 25th 2021. This was an interesting presentation although I believe it's safe to say I differ with a few conclusions derived here. I was curious why nearly the entire Olivet discourse was ignored along with the related text in Daniel 9 (let the reader understand...) and the cotext in Revelation 6? One other text routinely ignored when quoting the thief in the night motif is 1 Thessalonians 5:4 "But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief." (ESV) May I ask why that text seems to never enter the conversation as well?
I have never seen "left behind", but when I read the Bible myself I cannot but see that there is such a thing as the coming of the Antichrist (one world leader) and rapture for the believers :)
The Holy Spirit knows full well when Jesus will return for His Church, and it’s already been two thousand years. How could the Holy Spirit have taught the writers of the New Testament that Jesus could come any moment, when He knows everything, including the exact date of the rapture? Nothing can possibly be imminent to God. Imminent means something could happen at any moment. With an all-knowing God there is no maybe, might, possibly, could, wishing, attempting, trying etc. God knows exactly when and how everything will play out, there is no guessing, only fulfilling.
Honestly Pastor Tim, you probably don't spend much time talking to Pre-tribulationists, they really do believe Jesus can come right now or tomorrow and Christ's return is immanent. Historical Premills, post and mid-tribulationists would say that the rapture cannot come until the antichrist is revealed. I fall into the the historical premill camp personally. Just because Christ cannot come yet in my opinion does not excuse of from our true purpose of knowing eternal life now which is to know the true God and Jesus Christ whom he has sent. Our goal shouldnt be that we are good because he his return is immanent, rather we should want to live in his presence every moment because he is our true treasure. May God help us banish sin from our lives and live in his will.

Angel F. I think that when Jesus says “he will come like a thief, at an hour when no one expects,” he is just saying that his return cannot be predicted. The normalcy of everyday life is pretty much subjective, if we lived in a paganism society then those who are pagans would think that everything is normal, and they will be the ones who are shocked when Jesus returns. The ‘true believers’ won’t be surprised, because they want and pray for Jesus’ return today.
In other words, Pastor Tim, would you say it is possible that we have since passed the 1000 years and the devil has already been loosed and has already gathered the nations (Gog and Magog) against the Church? Don't talk about timing. It is not a "perspective". Soon means soon. He came again in 70ad. Revelation was written in 65-68 ad. The apostles expectation was true. They believed what Jesus said. Matthew 16:27-28. The last days were in the first century. Not now.
It's interesting that China are experimenting with human and animal hybrids, and the antichrist is called a beast. The antichrist could be one of those experiments, a individual NOT made in the image of God. Also the antichrist will have a fatal wound and still live and Satan will enter into him. The antichrist is an individual. That would give us about 20 years or so before a hybrid would be adult age plus give the Jews time to build the third temple.
